did nothing for alchohol cravings but that could be due to being on multiple psychotropic drugs and not attending aa. cravings did stop when i began attending aa without the campral. no side effects though. sometimes feel the drug was a placebo :(

After 20+ years of drinking, 10 years of passing out almost every night, I went through treatment and go to AA and supplement with Campral. The difference this time is Campral took away my cravings.

This drug is remarkable. It is as if that piece of my brain that motivated me to drink has been shut off. I remember the feelings of wanting to drink, but cannot "feel" them anymore--kind of like remembering what it is like to be hungry but not feeling hungry. Only hassle is having to take it 3x day--mid-day dose is easy to forget.

STILL DRINKING

This drug has given my wife the worse side effects. It makes her grumpy, dizzy, and sleepy. She seems to be just as drunk on this drug as when she was drinking. She did report that she had very few cravings, but I would only recommend this as a last resort because the patient will still seem to be drunk.

I've been using Campral 6 months for my binge drinking. Have fallen off wagon twice. Don't have strong cravings anymore unless I'm in a situation surrounded by alcohol and other drinkers. However, I am not seeing a councelor and may need to to get the full benefit of the drug. Haven't noticed any side effects.

I am now sober 4 months after drinking for 20 years, I think Campral is helping cravings, though its hard to tell with all the other stuff I'm taking. I got on here to see if side effects included joint pain, because my joints are killing me!

After hitting rock bottom I was willing to try anything. Campral is such a great help in early recovery. Cravings are eliminated which seems impossible. What a miracle. I was able to begin counseling and AA without the nagging cravings. I'm two years sober and highly recommend this drug!

Sometimes have upset stomach and blurry vision. Also aggravates my acid reflux. But it seems to help cravings.

I have had 10 monthes with no cravings or desire to drink. Campral has given me my life back.

This medication gave me all the worst side effects - agitation, increased anger, depression, suicidal thoughts - I would not recommend this medication to anyone without extremely close monitoring in an inpatient setting.

After 15 years of having alcohol every night....I have not had a problem with cravings with this medicine!!! I never thought I could do it! I am also in counseling but am so thankful for this medication!

This is a wonder drug this completely removed my cravings for alcohol, have had a little runny stool but nothing too severe this really does relieve the cravings.

non addictive , so far, would lkie to know more about long term side effects,. HOW HAS THIS DRUG BEEN TESTED, AND ON WHAT? HOW MANY YRS has it been on the market, in the us? myself personally is working quite well for drinking, however it seems verry costly,

This med gave me severe nose bleeds that occured every 4 hours (on the dot) and I ended up in the emergency room.

The only side effect I have noticed is an increase of ringing in my ears. Im not sure but I think this drug helps best with the physical side effects of alcoholism. My addiction is more the mental and emotional craving for mental numbness. I have used it to self medicate my depression for years.

at first i thought i could still drink some and stop while starting campral.........wrong idea. after getting into a volunatary intensive out-patient i developed a true understanding of my habit and the causes. once i really understood this and truly decided i wanted sobriety the medication worked and i have zero hard cravings. occassionally i do think about the old times but i "play the tape" and the outcome is not a good one so i do not drink. i really do not miss alcohol and neither do my wife or kids. this medicine is truly a blessing when used in conjunction with a complete program. I have been on Campral for about 3 weeks, and I can finally look at a liquor store without needing or wanting to drink. I used to drink almost every day, now I don't even think about drinking!
