I was prescribed Soma after years of bad experiences with other meds in this class. I have psoriatic arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis, so my muscles spasm around tender joints, affecting my life functions and my sleep quality. Now my doctor has the willies about prescribing this amazingly effective drug because of some over-protective ninny at the FDA. This drug works and I have never had a...

I am clear as a bell, take Soma as I have chronic, inoperable back pain and it will worsen with age; I also do yoga, eat well, and do not smoke or abuse drugs. I experience intense pain in low back due to herniation a few yrs. ago, and this helped and continues with the pain daily. 4-6 x a day has not affected me at all in a negative way, rather it allows me to perform daily activities, go back to school, learning yoga daily, practicing, walking, biking, but would have constant muscle spasms (still do!) without it. Some people are NOT able to tolerate it. It should always be monitored by an M. D. It also helps greatly with pain, and changed my quality of life tremendously.Read More Read Less

Have used Carisoprodol q 6 hrs w/ MS Cotin10 mg 3 x aday with fair to good results. For break thru pain which becomes severe at times, Norco 10mg. The later, rx is for 2 q4 hrs, which makes life bearable. I deal with extreme Fibro, Degen joint & disc diease, neck fusion that went bad, etc!

I have been on soma, 350 mg tablets, 4 times a day. My new drug prescription plan that goes into affect on July 1, 2013, does not provide soma at a reduced cost. Any idea why? What would be a good medication to use for muscle relaxation? I can run it by Express Scripts and see if they honor other drugs such as flexeril.

Prescribed in place of Flexaril (because Flexaril has that terrible "carry-over" into the next day). It was prescribed for muscle spasms AND as a sleep aid. Originally worked great, but, now (after 10 years), not as effective. In fact, I've noticed that, one month a bottle will work fantastic ... the next month, it won't hardly work at all! This has been going on for a couple of years now. I wonder if Soma/Carisoprodol has a much shorter "shelf-life", for effectiveness ... or, is it just "tolerance"?Read More Read Less

i've been taking this drug for years and it worked great but now sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. used to i could only take it at night cause it knocked me out but not anymore. guess i'm getting used to it. but it worked really well taken with hydrocodone for fibromyalgia and menstural pain. also for a good sleep aide.

I had taken vicodin alone (8 yr's) for lower back pain but it only slightly worked. My Dr. prescribed Soma to take with the vicodin and it worked wonders. I've tried taking Soma alone but it doesn't do anything for me, but taken together (Istill have slight pain) I can deal with the pain and function-doing my daily routine. I was afraid I would need stronger pain meds., but right now I don't.

I took this medication after experiencing an intolerance to Flexeril. I found it very effective at relieving muscle spasm. It does, however, give me headaches if I take it for more than a couple days.

I found the medicine to be the most effective msucle relaxant on the market, and after 13 years of severr back issues, I've trie them all. It helps ease the pressure and stress of my lower back muslces and it works pretty fast as well. I found it it better to keep it built up in your system, at times when things were not as bad, I would take 1/2 pill and it worked just as well. I have more troubles when I first wake up and try to get out of bed. I stretch as much as I can and then take this medicine right away. By the time I am making my morning coffee, this medicine has already started working. I would reccomend this over FLEXERIL any day. Some doctors do not like using this one but it is worth arguing about, this medicine works well. Read More Read Less

It was originally prescribed many years ago for muscle spasms in my neck & shoulders (due to whiplash). It worked very well with the only side effect being a mildly dry mouth. I like that it wears off for me in 4 to 6 hours so I can take it at night and not be weak and sleepy in the morning (like the effect I have with flexeril). Three years ago after suffering sleep depravation from post menopausal sleep disturbances (ie: frequently waking up & not sleeping soundly for a year). I discovered that the carisoprodol allowed me to sleep 5 to 6 hours straight. I take only 1/4 of a 350 mg pill on nights when I am wakeful. It has been a godsend.Read More Read Less
