I'm using the drops for bacterial conjunctivitis. I just started using it yesterday and my eye feels better after 4 drops. I have to use it for 5 days, so I'm hoping day by day it will continue to get better.

It seems like most reviews on here suffered the same thing I have. I'm just confirming that these eyedrops are very slow to work and not very effective.

After 7 days, no improvement taking every 4 hours as directed. Infection actually spread from 1 eye to the other which was not originally infected even though I applied to both eyes from the beginning

started on this for pink eye in both eyes--original dosage was 3 times a day--after 2 days minimal improvement--read drug sheet and saw dosage normal dosage was every 4 hrs--started that dosage and noticed significant improvement in 1 day--have been on this for 4 days and pink eye is gone--recommend this drug but dosage per doctor was too infrequent for my severity of infection

I had severe pink eye with drainage, redness, and extreme sensitivity to light. The drops helped with the light sensitivity after 2 applications, but after using it for 10 days, I still have eye irritation, redness, and drainage. My doctor has prescribed a different antibiotic for treatment.

my 87 yr old mother (SHE LIVES IN A NURSING HOME THE DOCTOR WAS THE MEDICAL DIRECTOR OF THE FACILITY) had matting of the eye lids rednesss of the eye also long history of very dry eyes md prescribed artificial tears ie visine, artificial tears over a period of 4-5 yrs, was to the extreme in length of time, which is a decongestant for the eye what she needed was more along the lines of restasis there fore the artificial tears narrowed the blood vessels in her eyes causing the matting causing permanent damage to inside of lids and infection. NOW we are seeing a eye surgeon tomorrow ! ASK QUESTIONS, DON'T ALways FEEL YOU HAVE TO ACCEPT WHAT THE DR. PRESCRIBES. YOU HAVE THE RIGHT AS THE PATIENT TO KNOW ALL THE DETAILS OF THE MEDICATION..SIDE EFFECTS THE PROPER DURATION OF MEDS DON,T EVER LEAVE THE DECISION SOLELY ON THE DOCTOR TO WEIGH THE SIDE EFFECTS AGAINST THE BENEFITS, YOU ALWAYS HAVE THE FINAL SAY. My Mom was also allergic to the gentamicin which caused even more issues.Gentamicin according to our present doctor it is a very old drug from early 1900's and a great many are allergic.Read More Read Less

I used one drop every 4 hours. After the second application my eyes felt so much better and most of the redness was gone. After 24 hours all the redness was gone. I'm very happy with this RX.

No relief from what is obviously not the infection Dr thought it was. Both eyes still red, photophobic, matted in mornings, pain worse at night. This medicine also caused severely blurred vision.

A doctor prescribed Gentamicin to me for a blocked tear duct. I had immediate adverse effects in my ears, including loud tinnitus that was very distressing. I was told by a subsequent doctor that this drug should be used as a last-resort drug, not as a first-line drug, specifically because of the high potential for ear damage, hearing loss and breakdown of the ear's balance mechanism. It was a very bad experience that, frankly, should have never happened as there are much safer alternatives to treat my eye condition. After using Gentamicin for just a few days, my tinnitus has not gone away a month later. I've been told I may have to live with it permanently. This has been a terrible experience.Read More Read Less

My condition also got worse after a few days on gentamicin drops. Before using this drug my eyes were still open, but after I used this drug, my eyes completely swelled shut. I had to switch to erythromycin ointment as well which worked immediately.

The absolute worse eye medication available. Although it was easy to use, just as eye drops are, the medication made my eye much more worse than it was before I used it.

My condition got worse after three days on gentamicin drops. I was now waking up with my eyelids stuck together. Not sure why, but it was ineffective, for me anyway. I am on erythromycin ointment now.
