I had told the hygienist that I was sensitive to tetracycline- she said it would not enter the blood stream - I have been physically ill since this treatment- 1 week ago- I have referred pain (on the opposite side of my mouth)- I feel sick to my stomach- She said I am not swollen or sore around the site, so it is not a reaction to this. I strongly disagree- it says "Aresti should not be used in any patient with a known sensitivity to tetracycline.

I too, had a syringe with the med inserted beneath the affected gum tissue and experienced some tenderness at the sign but felt and saw quick results within 24 hours. Waiting for a follow up to see if any further treatment is required.

At my scaling and root planing appointment, I had Arestin capsules put in. After a day of inflamation, I was OK. Within a week the sites cleared and firmed up nicely. Just had the other side done, with some more capsules put in. Doc says I don't need a 2nd treatment on the sites. I guess my gum disease was not that advanced. It seems that the other reviewers had some type of allergic reaction to the drug. Luckily, I did not.

Ihad this procedure done yesterday. My jaw is still swollen and I have a horrible taste in my mouth. I cannot eat anything without pain or the taste of the meds. Had I read about this procedure before having it, I would not have had it done. I was also not aware that I was also not told that I would have to have it done more than once. I cannot believe I will have to go through this again to get the full effect of the medicine. I recommend that you do your homework before having this procedure.

I had severe throat swelling starting the day after tx.Had to go to The ER for IV steroids & benadryl. Now only one side of my mouth is treated & this medication may take a month to get out of my system.

I had my first treatment 7/2008 and was satisfied. My 2nd and last treatment was 5/2009 and i have healthier gums and no pain,nor bleeding w/ brushin & flossin. If you follow the dental hygenists's orders before and after ARESTIN you'll be fine. Colgate Total has some goods about it.
