I'm Bipolar but also with an anxiety disorder. I go to the guidance center for treatment and they decided to stop prescribing Xanax ( and all medications like it, because of their addictive nature) even to those of us who truly need it and don't abuse it. As you can see I am not happy with their desicion. However, My dr. decided to put me on Vistaril 25 Mg X3 a day to combat my anxiety. The medica...
If your Dr. suggests this drug, walk out and go to a new Dr.;The Dr. here is a Veterinarian! Of all the choices, the person prescribing this should be ashamed and go back to school.

I was prescribed this drug for panic/anxiety treatment. For panic attacks, it sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. I'll take it when I feel a panic attack coming on, and it will not kick in for about 30 minutes, and by then the panic attack has already run it's course. I have insomnia from my anxiety, so it does help me sleep at night when I feel like I can't. If I take it during the day, it makes me a little tired, but not tired enough to fall asleep behind the wheel or when I'm busy doing something. I also suffer from allergies to dustmites/mold/things in the air, and it helps control them.Read More Read Less

I've been using this for a few days due to night terrors, sleep walking and severe anxiety. I feel"high" and sometimes numb when used, the next day I feel leveled and happier. I take buspar, paxil and minipress in conjunction with this. I have not had terrors or fine any mischief at night though and I feel rested.

I'm a 34 year old female. I was given this drug for marked anxiety attacks. I suffer from health anxiety issues. It doesn't seem to work unless it's built up in my system. I have to take it throughout the day, several times to feel any effect. It does definitely seem to take the edge off of my anxiety. I don't have racing, anxious thoughts as often. I am going to keep taking it, and see how things go. It does however make me very sleepy...

I have been taking this medication for over 2 years now to help with my anxiety, panic attacks, insomnia, and itching due to other medications. I have had no side effects and it has been very effective in assisting in all the areas it was prescribed for. I take 50mg daily and without I can tell a difference in my temperament when in crowds or anxious and trying to fall asleep along with staying asleep throughout the night if not taken. I feel no side effects the following morning or during the day.Read More Read Less

I've used Vistaril for over 10 years & I'm 69 yrs. old & the insurance co. stopped approval of it because of my age. I've tried xanax and & it doesn't work. I asked my dr. to try & get approval again. I could tell the difference in my anxiety when I went off & personally I don't care if they think I shouldn't take it anymore because of my age. It worked for me and I want to get back on it again.

I was prescribed Vistaril after having a panic attack while giving a speech. Simply put, Vistaril was able to take the edge off. Vistaril also helps me fall asleep faster.

As you can see I am not happy with their desicion. However, My dr. decided to put me on Vistaril 25 Mg X3 a day to combat my anxiety. The medication when taken consecutively and is built up in my system seems to work effectively. However it does not work on sudden shifts in my anxiety or when I have an anxiety attack. Therefore, I still need Xanax for those instances, I'm just lucky that they made me ween off of them so I would have a small supply for case such as those. so for me it is kind of helpful for the day to day, but on the whole not enough to combat all of my symptoms. hope this helps you.Read More Read Less
