This Drug works great & has been the only one that I have found that helps me. WARNING... I was tested for a drug screen in the ER & tested POSITIVE for THC (marijuana)! I was shocked & suprised~ I do not smoke! I made them retest!!! Tested Postive a 2nd time! I found out later that Protonix can make you test positive for THC on a drug test. The bad part was my Dr that I had did not know abo...

My stomach was producing excessive amounts of acid due to the diet I was on to gain muscle and weight. My stomach was literally attacking me and causing me severe pain and diarrhea. I went to my Dr and he prescribed me this medication and I'm doing much better. I still experience stomach aches from time to time, but overall they occur so much less than before. I still have a few weeks to go on it and I hope that I can get back to more normal diet for myself so I can really hit it hard in the gym again.Read More Read Less

Was still experiencing acid reflux especially during the night sleeping. With that and worried about side effects over time decided to stop taking it. Experienced even more severe heartburn after stopping. Seems it altered my stomach chemistry and made things worse.

I have been on this pill for a little over a year for stomach ulcers. They havent came back but if I miss more than two days I will get sick. Which could mean ulcers coming back, but I try not to miss a dose at all.

Protonix is not as effective for my heartburn caused by NSAIDS as Aciphex was. I am disappointed.

Other prescribed drugs did not give offer any relief, my level of pain was an 8 out of 10. This drug is like a miracle to me, it is the first time in 2 years that I can eat almost anything (except near bedtime) One RX of Dexilant was very expensive and did nothing for me.

I have been on protein for 10 years now. I started taking Lovaza (fish oil) and it made the Protonix somewhat ineffective. I developed Barrett's' Esophagus after a year. I stopped taking the Lovaza a few weeks ago and my heartburn is barely there now. If you find this medication ineffective and are on fish oil then try what i did.

Protonix has taken care of the Hpylori-Heliobactor sickness I camecame down with last April 2014 - severe nausea - severe stomach pain - headache and joint pain from this gut bacteria due to acid & gas that would travel up my esophagus as a gas bubble with belching and burping constantly - overall weakness and not beiong able to eat - do not know what brought this on - but ended up in the ER room and spent 3 days in the hospital for test to find out the problem - I have been taking this med since then and have not had any problems - I was the sickest that I have ever been for about 2 months (also could not sleep - very sleep deprived during all this! If you have any of these symptoms don't hesitate to see a doctor!Read More Read Less

I no longer choke with every bite of food. I no longer wake up with chocking on my own vomit. I am so happy with this drug my ENT said I may need a mesh wrap down the road due to damage of poor care.

Before this drug I could not eat anything but noodles, and that was a task. Constant "choking" feeling, burning, pain in my guts. This has been a miracle drug for me . Makes me a lil gassy at times, but that's nothing compared to what life was like before. I take it first thing in the morning on a empty stomach. However , if I don't eat all day it will make me a lil sicky.

I've taken proton is for seven years- since then have gained 40 pounds. Stopped protonix 2 months ago and have already lost 25 pounds. I no longer have the food cravings I did while on this medication. It worked great for heartburn, but I was constantly craving food. Didn't know it was the protonix until I stopped taking it.

Because I had to take high doses of prednisone they put me on this medication. Took for at least 5 years but was having problems so after doing some research I weaned myself off of it and am no using a natural approach. I take a probiotic, enzymes 3x a day and a pharmaceutical grade Omega 3. After only a month and a 1/2 I feel so much better and have actually started having a better appetite.

After one week on Protonix twice daily I developed a severe rash on my ankles and my feet started swelling up. I then stopped for 3 days and the rash and swelling went away. Tried Protonix another 3 days and the rash & swelling returned. Since nobody else seemed to have this problem, maybe it is just me. I had no other issues.
