It took a month for the hot flashes to go away but I have gained 15 lbs on this. I'm going to call the Dr because I'm getting depressed from the weight gain. Nothing fits. This med is making me hungry and very difficult to control my appetite. My hot flashes and insomnia were awful but I'll deal with that instead of this weight gain. The packaging is ridiculous. To difficult to get the capsule out...

After discussing my problem with my ob/gyn which is: Severe Chronic Sweating 24/hrs a day way past menopause, not thyroid, no hormonal problems. Just constant serious, chronic, severe sweating, from the moment I step foot out if my bed in the morning, and my I start to get the slitest bit physical, I feel my head like a volcano ready to erupt into full throttle, sweating all day long. I must be...

This medicine worked great for a few months but now hot flashes and night sweats are back. They truly should have done long term studies before marketing this product.

I have been taking Brisdelle for 6 weeks now....the first two weeks my hot flashes were almost completely gone...from having hot flashes every 30-45 minutes and 4-5 night sweats daily, you can imagine how relieved and happy I was. I did experience headaches, a stomache ache in the morning, loss of sex drive and gained 7 pounds...but flashes were gone and slowly headaches went away...that was the first 2-3 weeks.... week 4 to now, my hot flashes are back, night sweats are back almost the same as before I started taking Brisdelle.....now I'm concerned about stopping because I'm reading about the side affects that occur when you stop. I would not recommend this drug to anyone....temporary relief with several side affects....not to mention mood swings and feeling tired too. I'm calling my doctor to seek another alternative. I have hope and will not stop seeking a solution to get rid of these flashes..I can't imagine having these hot flashes long term!!!Read More Read Less

Opting for a non-hormonal treatment I tried Brisdelle. I was horrified at the cost, particularly since the medication is actually Paxil. It was our family's most expensive medication (husband on lots!). Generic Paxil costs about $10/month; Brisdelle $140. The relief from hot flashes was very minimal and I decided not to continue for another month. I am still struggling with SIGNIFICANT withdrawal symptons. Brisdelle can save the fancy packaging and advertising. I give it 2 thumbs down.

Brisdelle works great! But the packaging is HORRIBLE! Ridiculous cardboard contraption that requires you to pull a tab, then as you try to pop the pills out of the package, they bend and shoot out. I have fished pills out from under the sink after they escaped the packaging. I have also completely lost pills under the bed - or wherever the heck they landed when they shot out. They need to improve this.

This medicine worked immediately in reducing my hot flashes. However is a short few months the medicine stopped working. I don't think the did long term studies on this drug before putting it on the market.

I am age 66, had partial hysterectomy age 30. Night sweats have continued. Taken Brisdelle 4 maths, with some refief, but still have night sweats 2-3 nights/wk. Package is very hard to remove pills. Most people have daily pill containers, so really no need for this type packaging.

Tried every herbal remedy for hot flashes I could find. Finally, went to doctor and he gave me brisdelle. It has completely taken away my hot flashes. I have been taking it for about two weeks. Hope it continues to work.

Started with night sweats Jan '14. No period Feb '14. Cont getting 'warm' moments & night sweats. Started hormone patch Mar '14. No more warming or sweats however cycle started 2 wks later. Switched to hormone pill Apr '14, spotted daily for 1 month. Back on patch May '14. Raised dose of patch Jul '14 after cycle started again. Cont. to have cycle every other wk. Started Brisdelle Oct '14. Within 2 days no more 'warming' or night sweats. Cycle stopped Dec '14. Life was great! However, my nose and chin started flushing. I was diagnosed with rosacea many many years ago but have had no flushing, just occasional redness in recent years. My dermatologist prescribed a drug to remove the redness but I wanted to stop it. My self esteem has disappeared. No rhyme or reason for the redness - sometimes just chin or just nose or both. Sometimes intense red sometimes not. I haven't had weight gain because I am on Adipex. When my hormones started to change I couldn't lose weight. Went on Adipex to stop the gain and lost the weight I had put on. Was ready to go off it. However have struggled with weight since starting Brisdelle. The packaging is HORRIBLE. A 7" long cardboard dispenser that you pull a fold over tray out of. When unfolded it is 21" long. Awkward to travel with. Not discreet. Had received samples from my GYN and a prescription card. $25/month is great. I don't want sweats so I want to stay on it but weight gain and flushing of my face are bad. I'll keep trying and searching until I find something that works. Good luck all!Read More Read Less

Was using Black Cohosh for only for severe hot flashes & night sweats (up to 20 per day). Starting taking this med 3 weeks ago and within 5 days no more of either. The packaging is horrible. Thank goodness for the $25 per script coupon from the manufacturer on-line. Without it my cost would be $165 per month and, therefore, not an option for me.

My GYN put me on this to get me off HRT and zoloft. Seemed to work fine in helping with my depression issues. Have been on it for 4 months and am noticing I am waking up again in a sweat so guess it's not working for night sweats anymore. Also am having a hard time with my weight. My GYN told me it would help me with my weight but it has done the opposite. I have gained weight and even following Weight Watchers (at which I have always had success in the past) I am not able to loose and have even gained while following their program. Headed back to my GYN to see what other options are available!Read More Read Less

I researched this drug. The FDA barely approved its use last year, and they were most likely right--it's probably just about as good as taking a placebo, except a placebo doesn't have side effects. My flashes and sweats have not gone away, but I gained about ten pounds in the last few months, who needs that? I am now considering "bio-identical" options because several of my friends have been on them for years and quite happy. I had previously tried a hormone therapy patch without great results and in fact, that patch made my periods come back! And, even Black Cohosh and Evening Primrose Oil worked better than this drug! Started taking the medication and within 3 weeks hot flashes disappeared. After 6 weeks hot flashes are back full force. Didn't gain any weight. Packaging is awful, crushed too many of the little expensive pills trying to get them out.

I have been taking Brisdelle for about 4 months because my GP prescribed it based on my complaints during my annual physical. I was a wrecked before taking it and it provided immediate relief from the flashes and night sweats. However, now they are back and are nearly as severe. I had been thinking about stopping the med and after reading the comments from other users I will call the doctor for advice because stopping causes additional side effects. It had not really occurred to me until the med stopped alleviating the menopausal symptoms, but I have been experiencing heartburn, dizziness, less energy, maybe weight gain and overall feeling disconnected. Because I was initially happy with the med from the outset, despite no longer wanting to take it I would still recommend potential users try it for themselves. This is because menopause symptoms and severity vary and medicine tolerance differ from person to person. Good luck for those who decide to try it. (By the way, Brisdelle offers a $25 coupon online, good for 6 months; the capsules are easier to remove from the package if you break the cardboard first with a fingernail.)Read More Read Less

i had a hystorectomy 4 yrs ago, and 2 yrs after that the flashes started. i toughed it out for the first yr and a half, then my onc/gyn gave me brisdelle. the packing sucks! the pill works great, BUT (isn't there always a BUT?) i have gained about 10-12 lbs, and my sugar (i'm a diabetic) has gradually crept up to unacceptable levels. not sure what to do. since i still have 3 refills maybe i'll stick with it for now, then go back to sweating.
