I've had extreme fatigue for the last 15 years. It started after I was diagnosed with Mono and it never went away. I would take a nap any chance I got. After work, I would come home and fall asleep. If that was not possible, I would lay around with no energy to do the needed tasks. I negated my duties as a wife and mother and did the minimal amount. It was an extreme sacrifice to do anything ...

200 mg is plenty to keep me awake and going all day, but 7Keyto DHEA has helped me more and it does not cost $200 per month.

I have been diagnosed with both obstructive and central sleep apnea for over 7 years now. I started off with a c-pap, went to the highest settings with no improvement. I was switched to a bi-pap, my settings to achieve maximum efficiency made me swallow air and gave me gastrointestinal pain. I am currently on a v-pap with setting high enough to help somewhat and not cause distress. My neurologist started me on NUVIGIL bc of excessive day time sleepiness and napping during the day. I started off at 150 mg and had no effect. I was increased to 250 mg and I am still having no results!! I am still very tired expecially while driving. And just incase your wondering I am only 60lbs over weight. Read More Read Less

I've been taking Nuvigil for about five years for Bipolar Disorder - depressive type. It's my wonder drug, I can't imagine life without it. I also take other mainstream depression meds but Nuvigil is the one that helped me turn the corner.

I have ms and have a daycare, dr put me on it to help from being so tired and falling asleep during the day. I made me feel terrible like I was so tired and was getting flu. Not to mention chest squeezing and shortness of breath. Can't do that and keep babies. Not worth it to me and was seeing things.

I work a rotating shift (mid to evening to day rotation) and this medication does help with my alertness and ability to get up and stay up and alert after taking it. After several visits to the doctor and a heart cath with no determinable reason, other than this med for my chest pains, abnormal stress test, excessive urge to urinate, routine skin itching, weak feeling, HBP, twice a week migraines and routine diarrhea (all with my Crohn's disease in remission), I am now in discussion with my PCP about stopping this medication and trying something else to aid my SWD. The medication works but gets hard to sleep when you feel like your having a heart attack, and yes, I tried taking a smaller dose (halving pills) and even taking only on evening/midnight rotation, and still have had these symptoms. While effective, I would not recommend this medication in lieu of good health/fitness. I have tried energy drinks, B12 injection, testosterone, and those fast energy they used to sell in truck stops (Stingers?), and none have been as effective as this medication in helping me feel aware and alert, but at what cost to my health?? Will check into generic or use ammantidine which is better anyway for MS fatigue, not sure, but I think less costly. My insurance won't cover nuvigil for MS. Good for you MSers and anyone that have had it covered by insurance. The majority of MSers aren't having any luck with that. I have BCBS Caremark, some states cover and some do not. Don't know why the FDA won't approve this for MS. Called Cephelon Assistance they do not bother with insured persons. I know it's a business, that wants to profit. Funny thing, I thought MS accounted for a lot of the demand. Guess I'm wrong. Been surfing the net several days off and on and it looks like MSers are migrating to other avenues due to cost. Something I know about after spending thousands of dollars out of pocket on Provigil (same drug co). Oh well, don't skip looking up side effects with all the fine print and if you need to the definitions. Sorry, but it's necessary to be informed. Very creepy and I stumbled across plenty of stories with my surfing. Best of luck to all of you.Read More Read Less

I have just started this medication and have been taking it for 2 days. So far so good. I have severe sleep apnea and borderline narcolepsy, so it extreamly difficult for me to stay awake during the day despite the fact I have been using a CPAP machine for almost 6 years now and my pressure is up to 16. Took my first pill yesterday and for the first time in over 2 years I was able to keep up with my 2 year old son without having to tell him "Daddy is too tired to play". This drug has given me my life back so far and I hope to continue with that. The only 2 complaints I have so far are that although I am wide awake and alert, I still yawn a lot and I wasn't able to go to sleep until 4 am whn normally it takes about 30 to 45 seconds to close my eyes and be out. Hopefully I will get used to it and be able to fall asleep, but I like the ability to stay awake and be like my old self again than sleep. I haven't felt like this in over 15 years, since I was a teenager.Read More Read Less

My Doctor of the last 2o yrs retired leaving me to be refered to another doctor who did not feel comfortable prescribing 5 tabs a day at 20 mg of Gen Ritilan. So Ive been passed on to another doc.Who cant find anything in my previous records showing I have narcolepsy....The last dr thought it fit to thin out my records for his practice.Which included a voluntary sleep study I had done years ago....So this doc syss I should take Nuvigil Because it doesnt have the (KICK) that Mythlphenidate has...And since I cant afford the New drug I should be on full disability..SONOFA***..I work fine for 30 yrs on my reg meds and now this Nuvigil stuff has almost cost me my ability to earn a living.....Awake but not alert.Very moody.I liked playing Video games on my X box 360...But have not touched it since the day I started this crap.It robs me feeling satisfied or any eagerness to do something Like gaming or wanting to do anything that could enhance or even sustain my life....Right now I have allot of free samples wich will rot in thier package...Im gonna have to rely on Caffine pills to staY AWAKE AT THE jOB...P.S. My meds for the last 30 yrs, ( Walgreens verified) did not provide a so called Kick That Dr Kahn described to me (Current Dr in Limbo) I would take it..and 15 min later it would be like someone turned on the lights in a candle lit room..Would last 3hrs..to the min...For 30 yrs. This Dr Khan also wanted to put me on sleeping pills so I can sleep better..She was not happy at my refusal..Even if I get a good nights sleep.I still have sleep attacks..This is what Narcolepsy does...Im at a rock and a hard place right now and no one cares...All in all I would not advise this drug Nuvigil for Narcolepsy..Or any other disorder as it robs you of any satisfaction the so called (SOUL) needs to maintain a normal feeling of well being..Oh Yea..If you have suicidal thoughts. They may be increased with this medication. It was the only Question Khan or Kahn asked of me before the samples.Read More Read Less

I was excited that this drug might work. The first day I was buzzing around like a bee and felt great, but on day two I couldn't even tell I took anything. That night, I broke out in a rash and had severe pain in my chest and stomach. I haven't taken it since. I wish I could have taken it because it also seemed to help my aches and pains on the second day.

Not a big promoter of drug therapy, but I'll endorse Nuvigil.I feel like myself with no side affects. I also adopted a more healthy lifestyle overall. Changed eating habits, some form of exercise everyday, something creative, and meditation. I think all of these things contribute to my lack of side affects and effectiveness of the drug.

Drug works good to clear brain fog and provide a energy boost. My body has adjusted to dosage quickly and effects diminish but do not go away completely. Fatigue / sleep disorder - 2 1/2 years post HAI brain injury.

I used Cylert for 22years. It was far more effective that Nuvigil. I could adjust its strength when needed. It was a generic in the later years so its cost was dramatically less. Nothing else has been as effective for me. Nothing else

I take this drug for my extreme fatigue and sleepines caused from fibromyalgia/chronic fatigue syndrome. At first I felt quite hyper for 2 days, but then leveled off and I feel pretty good. I hardly need any naps during the day like I did before taking this medication. I have been on it about 2 months. Thank for something that really helps.

Be careful, I only take this medication once per week and I find it hard to sleep again thereafter. I have noticed side effects like headaches and a rash on my face.

I began taking Nuvigil over 6 months ago, due to excessive daytime sleepiness and sleep apnea. The medicine worked great at first, but after a couple of weeks, I still had/have headaches and nausea daily. My brain feels alert, but is foggy and my concentration is gone. It has really affected my vision. I can't see things like I did before I started the medicine and my anxiety is terrible. I have no problems falling asleep during the day. Like the one reviewer said. It feels like you are exhausted in an alert body. I too am bitchy. Despite the fact that I did loose 10 pounds, it isn't worth the other side effects to me. Plus the cost is ridiculous. I am glad that it works for some people and had hoped that it would be my miracle drug, but it is not. Not sure how I will stay awake during the day, other than several pots of coffee, but it has to be better than feeling sick, exhausted and my brain being somewhere else. Of note I am a vegetarian, I work out three to four times a week etc. I live a very healthful lifestyle. (other than the coffee.) Read More Read Less
