As a further to my previous review:(have been taking Apriso for about six months and have not had any flareups. I was taking Entocort but my doctor had me switch to Apriso and am very satisfied. Apriso while expensive is about one third the price of Entocort. I read it is for use for up to 6 months but now I see many people have been taking it for much longer. On May 27, 2011, after taking Apri...

I've recently had a flare up with my illness and the dr. that is taking care of my problem just recently raised my dose of Apriso from 4 caplets a day to 8 caplets a day which total 3000 mg. daily,,,is that too high of a dose to take?

I have been on Apriso for 8 months. The only issue I am having is joint pain. Usually in the morning after being in bed all night. Hips and shoulder blades are very sore. No hair loss. Other symptoms are gone. It's wonderful.

I was diagnosed 3 years ago with UC. Apriso put me in remission, but my hair began falling out in chunks. I had a lot of hair before being on Apriso. I reduced my dosage from 4 pills a day to 3 and then 2, but cannot maintain remission on 2. My hair is still falling out. Compared to three years ago, I am bald. I am working with my gastro to switch medication.

I tried 2 other drugs for my colitis, but this is the very best. Bowel movements are almost normal, no more running to the bathroom all the time.

I'm taking this for diverticulitis. I was on a antibiotics every 6 weeks for painful diverticulitis flare ups, which also triggered flare ups in my eczema. My MD put me on Apriso plus a potent probiotic. It's 6 months without a diverticulitis flare up -- and side benefit, no eczema flare ups. So far no hair loss and I'm a very happy patient.

I have experienced weight gain, stomach bloating, stomach pain, as well as continued flare ups with diarrhea, and immediate need to have a BM.

On it for 2 weeks as a sample and what a difference! no symptoms at all so far! I picked up my first prescription and although it is expensive, my doctor gave me a savings/discount card just for Apriso-first one is free and only 10$ a month after that, and that is with my insurance too! Ask your doctor about the discount card-I didn't even ask, they just gave it to me with the samples

I have been on Apriso for about two months now and am finally seeing good results. Still having cramping and occasional loose stools but they seem to be less than before I started the drug. I can actually go far a whole day now without having diarrhea several times. Big change.

At first I was skeptical of this med and didn't think it was going to work, but after about a month I began to notice a difference. My stools were much less frequent and also formed which was a huge difference. Eventually I was fairly regular until I screwed up on my mail order prescription and did not have the med for about two weeks, then my symptoms came back. I have been a lot more regular again now that I am back on it. I have noticed that certain foods trigger diarrhea but that is normal for crohns anyway. I also take a multivitamin, vit c, b, d, echinecea, and probiotics, the combination has worked really well for me and I have avoided being sick for the most part. The only side effect that I have from the med is that I seem to have an occasional headache, and also a faster heart rate than usual, but I'll take that instead of where I was before. Have been on several different medications over the last few years but this one has worked the best by far. Immediatly after I started taking it joint pain stopped. The only time I really have problems now is in the morning or if I eat wrong. The pills are hard to take due to size. (Wouldn't be sooo bad if I only took apriso) Have not gone into remission but I am much btter.

I had an allergic reaction to taking this medication and stopped use after 3 weeks. Bad joint pain, cough, swollen tongue and hair loss. 2 months later and my hair is still falling out.

Further to my last e-mail, I have now been on Apriso for two years (since July 4, 2010) and have not had a flareup. My doctor advises that I keep on taking it and said I could try reducing it to 3 tablets rather than 4 a day. I am sticking with 4 tablets. I also take the probiotic Align with the Apriso and the two have worked for me.

I took 2 tables the first day 6am, beginning 10am the diarrhea was acute, every 2 hours, which continued until the next morning by the way, by 2pm I was experiencing abdominal pain, 5pm nausea, 7pm influenza like illness. No I will not continue with this medication.

I was diagnosed with UC in my entire colon a couple of months ago at 7 months pregnant. Tried Lialda, but it gave me severe stomach pain. Switched to Apriso and it has worked wonders. It took about 3-4 weeks to get into remission. Not bad at all! The pills are a little hard to swallow because of size, but it's worth it to feel "normal" again!
