I had what I though was a serious sinus infection for 5 days before starting this drug. My doctor decided that I probably had very inflamed sinuses rather than an infection and opted to try this steroid instead of antibiotics. It took less than a day to start getting relief and by the second day my swelling had disappeared. I would absolutely take this again for any kind of inflammation symptoms....

The dosage and use of the dispensing packet are great. The first day taking 6 pills and the night sweats that followed was a bummer. After 3 days on the medicine the metalic taste left in my mouth all day long is almost unbearable. The only positive about the drug is its despensing packet is fool proof. Other than that it has to be some ones idea of a cruel joke.

I was waiting for microdiscectomy and also have bad arthritis in left knee. Pain from both combined made my life very bad for a long time. I started the dose pack and by the second day felt like a new person. Knee pain was gone, sciatica pain diminished. Finally able to move and get around. Thank goodness for this drug. No bad reaction that I am aware of.

I was in agonizing pain in the shoulder area from lifting something that was apparently too heavy for me. I could not extend my arm out or lift it without extreme pain. I was prescribed the Medrol dose pak and I was shocked at how quickly I recovered. No lie, the next day I could point my weak arm straight up to the ceiling with absolutely no pain and it did not return. (My husband thought I was teasing him and using my good arm, but it was definitely the bad one.) I don't advocate rampant steroid use, but taking it this time worked wonders for me. This is my 3rd dose pack in a year. The first was for severe bronchitis and coughing in December 2013. The second one was for severe poison ivy in April 2014 and the current (August 2014) is for poison ivy. In the first 2 treatments as well as the current, improvement was noticed after the first day's dosage. After having a sever coughing for over a week I was finally able to get some relief. The poison ivy also started shrinking and drying up after the first day's dose. With the current bout of Poison Ivy I asked for the dose pack on the first visit along with a celestone shot. The dose pack works much better that the shot alone.Read More Read Less

My doctor instructed me to take ALL the day's pills AT ONCE, NOT SPACE THEM OUT AS DIRECTED ON THE BOX. Do it first thing in the morning. Ihave had no side effects whatsoever. The ONLY adverse reaction that I had was taking ibuprofen by accident, forgetting I wasn't suppose to while on Medrol. For the four hours the ibuprofen was in my system, my blood thinned enough that I got very cold. Shivering- in socks, thermal long johns and three blankets (in summer). Once the ibuprofen was out of my system I was fine. I was prescribed Medrol for heavy congestion in my sinuses. It began clearing them immediately and I felt better day one. PLEASE ASK YOUR DOCTOR TO INSTRUCT YOU AS MINE DID. THE RESULTS ARE WONDERFUL AND ZERO REACTION WHEN TAKEN ALL AT ONCE IN THE MORNING.Read More Read Less

Medrol Pak .I have had plugged up ears from drainage of sinus for last 2 years. So all of sudden between my neck being sore in back from inflamation and so much drainage I ended up with vertigo and nashea. Woke up with room spinning for 2 days and still off balance and spinning the 3rd day. Doc put me on the steroids for the ears and sinus to drain and went to the chiropractor thurs and right away my upset stomach went away mostly and by sat the 2nd day i did chiro again. Between the 2 things I felt much better by 3rd day and a lot of drainage in my nose and throat. My nurse told me that the meds would take down swelling so that every thing would drain and it would also help my asthma . Which this year is the first yr since i found out 12 yrs ago that i even had it. It wiped me out this year, So hoping it helps, not noticed much yet. Also have a digestive problem and its suppose to help it,so hoping it helps. It seems to help a lot of stuff and I have had no side effect yet on 3rd day. Just feel better, still off balance yet, but no vertigo. Yah!Read More Read Less

Doctor prescribed this med for an inflammatory reaction to a venomous insect bite. Approximately 20 minutes after the initial dose I felt shaky, slightly dizzy, confused with palpitations. I discontinued the drug as per my doctors orders (I would have d/c'd it on my own anyway). I now apply good old fashioned Calamine lotion to the affected area and continue my antibiotic medication as prescribed only. Never again will I take this medication for any reason.

I had a laminectomy a few years ago for Disc and severe Sciatic nerve pain on my right side and leg. I have started having a return and additional Stenosis and Left Hip problems, possibly from favoring the right side. This pack was prescribed, while waiting for MRI and other exams and I'm in my fourth day. By the second morning, I had unbelievable improvement. I could barely walk even with a cane and today, I didn't need it. I'm not pain free, but this is like a 2 compared to 10 a few days ago. I only have had some heartburn which I take Antacid for relief. So far so good. Read More Read Less

I have herniated discs in my lower back and recently developed radiculopathy from impingement of the sciatic nerve. The pain was debilitating; I could neither stand nor lay down without literally screaming from the electric shock of pain. I would say this drug is a necessary evil under certain circumstances like this. The side effects are horrible. I'm on day 3 of the 6-day dose pack, and I didn't sleep for over 24 hours before being able to just catch a 3 hour nap. It also made me nauseous and has now given me diarrhea. The pain decreased significantly on the 2nd day, a great relief, but I don't ever want to take this med again. Seeing an ortho tomorrow for an MRI and full workup and hoping that physical therapy or something else will prevent a return of the sciatic pain. This is a nasty , albeit effective, drug.Read More Read Less

Post operative Rx to decrease swelling etc. I did not sleep the entire time I was on this medication....insomnia to the extreme. By the end of the treatment I felt like a zombie. I will never use this again.....the benefits did not justify being awake 24 hrs a day for days on end.

The treatment was effective, but I had several side effects. On day one I had slight dizziness & nausea. The remaining days I had an tremendous increase in thirst, hunger, bloating and the sweating was almost unbearable. I didnt want to workout because I would sweat so bad and the sweating kept me thirsty. The medication was helpful for my joint condition but the side effects made me miserable. I couldnt wait for day 6

My husband called in a Medrol Pak for me after I had Radiesse injections in my cheeks and had severe swelling and bruising after. I have to say this drug has been quite effective. I noticed a difference and significant reduction in swelling aprox five hours after the initial dose. My husband is a doctor so he recommended that I take all six pills at the same time with my breakfast. I never experienced any side effects associated with this medication and the results are wonderful

I have SLE, fibromyalgia and Sjogren's Syndrome. When I have an attack, the only thing that will help me is the Medrol Pak. After a couple of days on the medication, I start to be able to move a bit more comfortably, however, only being able to be on it for 7 days is not long enough. Once the medication is done, I am right back to severe pain, and not able to get out of bed. My biggest problem is to remember to take the medication as directed for each of the days and not skipping a dosage because that will set you back.Read More Read Less

Was prescribed for wheezing after unsuccessful trtmt for bronchitis. In addition to the huuuge elevation of my blood sugar levels, this med made me sooo nauseous that I could barely function and vommited a lot. Had crazy dreams & felt worse than before starting medication. Had I read the comments posted here before starting med, would have avoided this med altogether! Stopped after 3 days & day after am still vommiting and have a huge headache. Never again!!!

After coughing for two months, I was placed on Medrol, felt better after 24 hours. A miracle! No real awful side effects, just a little trouble sleeping the first night or two. Worth it!
