How the interaction occurs:

When these medicines are taken together, your liver may processes your antianxiety (or sleep) medicine more slowly.

What might happen:

The blood levels of your antianxiety (or sleep) medicine may increase and cause toxic effects such as excess drowsiness, confusion, loss of coordination, or loss of consciousness.

What you should do about this interaction:

Contact your healthcare professionals (e.g. doctor or pharmacist) as soon as possible about taking these medicines together. Your doctor may want to change your antianxiety medicine or the dose of your antianxiety medicine while you are taking delavirdine. If you experience any excess drowsiness, confusion, loss of coordination, or loss of consciousness while taking these medicines together, contact your healthcare professional.Your healthcare professionals may already be aware of this interaction and may be monitoring you for it. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with them first.
