This is a dangerous medication. The pharmacy warned me about serotonin syndrome but my psych doctor did not. I took it the 2nd day and had the worse panic attack of my life. I thought i was gonna die. I started to have Hallucinations from This medication. Severe high blood pressure, Confusion, Headache. Felt like my brain was going to explode. Dizziness. My speech was slurred. I couldn’t understand or make out my words. I had brain zaps. Felt like I was being electrocuted, Fast heart rate. Bloated stomach I looked about 6 months pregnant. I’m a really Happy person, I felt Intense darkness around me. Suicidal thoughts. I felt carless, sad, emotionless. Very scary medication. Does not help anxiety. I wouldn’t recommend anybody take this medication. Read More Read Less

After I experienced some very bad things happening around me and to Family members Anxiety set in , the Fear and always Overthinking now. I never had Anxiety before but Now I'm 53 had to bury Parents and almost lost my Wife to medical Condition but luckily had a great Surgeon and with all that my World came crashing down on me. Anxiety was bad , BP levels high and I don't have High BP all the tests showed I didn't but it was caused by Anxiety. Been on Buspar for a few weeks now and even the Wife has seen Huge improvement in me and less worrying and overthinking. Yes the Drug isn't for everyone but I believe it does Work on Patients who Suffer on set Anxiety and if you're like me you never have taken a lot of meds. My system is sensitive to Meds and this one Works. That could be why it works for me and not others. I only require a low Dose to take care of mine. But I never have taken Meds for Mental conditions before only physical Pain Meds from a back Surgery years ago. Read More Read Less

This medication either works for people very well or not at all. Unfortunately, would have loved for it to work for me. Its insane that anxiety medication can cause more anxiety. If you are taking this and you have all of the side effects than you should probably stop taking this. If you have no side effects well than you are lucky. This medication has caused me all types of side effects that are unbearable to wait it through even a couple of weeks to see if they go away. The first couple of days i took it, I got hot flashes and my body always seemed flushed. I ended up waking up in the middle of the night with my body in a full sweat. On the third night I had a fever and have had a sore throat all throughout taking it. I am having these zapping headaches that will hit me in the middle of the day that feel like migraine headaches where one side of my head hurts. Caused increase urination and weight gain/increase appetite. It felt like i was out of it, brain fog, very tired that i was nervous to take it during the day. It felt like my brain had to catch up with the movements, like im in a drugged up state. Very vivid, crazy dreams. On day 5 & 6 is when i really couldn’t take it anymore I started to have very scary intrusive thoughts and started to hear auditory hallucinations. That was my final straw. Hoping my doctor can put me on something else that works better for me. You’re better off taking an SSRI with less side effects and save yourself some time. Read More Read Less

I have had anxiety most of my life. I'm now older and slowing down. I feel more anxious and have been prescribed serotonin increasing drugs. Every time it makes it worse ( you would think I would learn). This time the doc says this will work, Buspar was the worst. Only tried for two days and now off for 26 hours. I feel like I'm going to explode. My blood pressure went from 138/75 at the doctors 5 days ago to 177/105. I'm now hoping for a massive heart attack. I'm done with doctors and drugs.

I took this medication when I was nine years old. When I was eight I threw a lot of temper tantrums and was anxious all the time. I suffer from Asperger's syndrome. After I started the medication I started behaving much much better.

I’ve tried a bunch of different meds and I either get so dependent that I can’t function or they just don’t do anything after awhile. This is a good option if you get addicted easily and don’t want to deal with benzo withdrawal.

I was on this medication for just under a month when I had to stop taking it myself. It made me extra anxious, irritable, short tempered, raised my BP, chest pains, and my anxiety level has been through the roof since I took it. Its been over a month off of it and I have still not gotten over it. I didn't have these issues before. I would definitely not recommend this medication to anyone. It took me from occasionally being anxious to sever anxiety on a daily basis with blood pressure issues and headaches. Read More Read Less

It made me feel like i was going crazy. I have never had that many panic attacks in a three month period than I did with this medicine. It made my mind race with irrational thoughts and anxiety, anxiety was the highest it ever has been, more aggressive, not like myself, depressed, the list goes on.

Started taking Buspar for General Anxiety Disorder a few months ago. I'm up to 10mg 2-3 times a day. Buspar, paired with Propranolol, has made a huge difference. I've tried SSRI's and benzo's in the past, and this working much better. No more night sweats, no sexual side effects, no wieght gain/loss. It takes a few weeks to get the full benefit of the medicine so hang in there! It's not perfect, but I'm miles ahead of where I was a few months back. Talk to your doctor! Don't be afraid to explore other options! Read More Read Less

I have anxiety daily and at times it's worse mainly in public with my children and grandchildren. I was prescribed it 3 times a day. I took it faithfully until I realized I was having lots of memory loss and was more like blaw all day. Family were starting to notice as well. I have weaned myself down to 1 in the morning. I have noticed I sleep better at night when taking it in the morning. I do however take an extra one the days I take the kids to an amusement park or somewhere there is a ton of people. It works like a charm and everyone is safe and happy. Read More Read Less

I have been taking this medicine now for about 8-9 months. when I started it took 4 weeks before it started working. it helped a lot with the anxiety and panic attacks for about 4 months, then it just stopped working.. was on 25 mg a day in the end. Tried increasing the dose, but it doesn't help. I have now tapered off the medicine for almost two months, and I promise that for me it has been worse to stop taking this medicine than with X*nax. I took benzo for 4-5 months, and maybe had withdrawal for 2-3 weeks. I have had withdrawal from this buspirone medicine since the day I started tapering it. withdrawal symptoms like tremors, dizziness, passing out, cold sweat, dissociation, panic attacks, nightmares, flu symptoms, and much more.. I am now down to one a day 5mg. hope it gets better soon. Everyone reacts differently to medication and withdrawal. some get side effects and others don't, this is just my experience.Read More Read Less

I was prescribed this medication by my primary care provider, who was legitimately trying to help me prior to a psychiatrist appointment. I have had GAD and SAD ever since childhood and was excited for the possibility of living and anxiety-free life. Unfortunately, the side effects have made it impossible to continue treatment with this particular drug. The insomnia was the worst and even though the drug made me feel exhausted, sleep was rare. I felt heavy and out of it most of the day. I also did not feel any relief from my anxiety. Read More Read Less

My panic attacks are worse than ever. I started on 7.5 mg 2x day and was increased to 10 mg 2xday after a month. It's been 3 months and nothing is better it's actually worse. Shaking, crying, racing thoughts, racing heart, crazy amounts of anger and suicidal feelings. I would not recommend this medication.

Like many of us, I was cute off of Lorazapan for no dam reason. I was never addicted and respected the drug. I went to about 4 doctors to get help. They prescribed Visceral and a blood pressure drug. They worked for a bit, but I could now wake up. Finally, I went to an online doc who prescribed BusSar. At first, I was sleepy. I have now been on 7.5mg 2xs a day for over 7 weeks. I am a new person. A bit sleepy but calm. No more crying, and extreme racing thoughts and I appear to be healing from my 5 years of extreme emotional trauma.Read More Read Less

I was on this med for two months and gained 20 lbs. so quickly it made my head spin. Bloated, tired and miserable. 20 years on meds for Bi-polar without gaining weight and this one did it in 2 months. They tried to tell me I was eating more. I wasn't. They tried to say perhaps it made me relaxed and I wasn't exercising enough. Not true. The weight just kept coming. I've been off of it for 4 months and my weight returned to normal.

I had tried everything before this medication and I can honestly say this medication took away most of my anxiety after a month. I do not get obsessed with anxious thoughts anymore. The 3rd day of taking this I was so anxious that I was going to stop but I fought through it and I am SO glad that I did. I also get dizzy from time to time after a dose but I would have that any day over anxiety!!

White gold. Repeated episodes in the past; worse than most. I had night terrors, catatonia, agoraphobia- the list was long and I wasn’t doing well at all- for months. I’ve only been taking Buspar for 3 & 1/2 weeks now and I’m out walking my dogs, cleaning/cooking/socializing- literally nothing short of a miracle. I take 5 mg (only) twice per day (8 am & 4 pm) + 1 mg of Rexulti once daily; this seems to me the working combo for me. I hope this review helps someone else out there just as these reviews helped me. All the best!Read More Read Less
