I have been using Flexeril on and off for the last 15 years following a serious head on auto accident some 35 years ago. It is designed to provide relief from muscle cramping. In my system it has a 12 hour half life, meaning it decreases its effectiveness by 1/2 in 12 hours. Other people get an 8 hour half life from it. It lists its first side effect as drowsiness and I would have to agree. I...
Do not take this med. OMG. I just researched this after taking for a diagnosis of sciatica (which I never do, I usually do extensive research). READ the side effects people. I have had horrible constipation for weeks (just figured it out after reading side effects). I am 124 lbs, size 4-6, the distension (sp?) is like I'm 4 months pregnant, the excruciating lower back pain due to the constitpati...

I have been taking this med for about 5 years I did a review on Hydrocodone the other day and with the combination of the two meds my knee pain is manageable, I would recommend this. I take 10mg three times a day and the spasms in my thigh are reduced.

Below I re-posted someone's comment on Cyclobenzaprine. If you have joint pain and inflammation (swelling) you need to be taking an NSAID Non Steroidal Anti- Inflammatory Drug like Etodolac, Ibuprofen, Naproxen, etc. Those drugs are made specifically to relieve joint pain by reducing Inflammation (swelling)in the joints. Cyclobenzaprine is a muscle relaxing drug, and this is why it is not helping you. I hope this information is helpful to you and everyone else. If your seeing your Primary Care Doctor for your condition you may benefit greatly from making an appointment with a Rheumatologist, as they specialize in such medical issues. Good Luck to you all :) I'm starting on my Cyclobenzaprine today for Fibromyalgia and hope it helps. (So please disregard my ratings above, as I do not know yet, how this drug will work for me) Drug Reviewer: susan , 45-54 Female on Treatment for less than 1 month (Patient) Effectiveness Current Rating: 1 Ease of Use Current Rating: 3 Satisfaction Current Rating: 1 Comment: i was given for joint pain and swelling , but it shows no sign of inprovement Read More Read Less

I TAKE 10 MG FOR FIBROMYALGIA, CERVICAL RADICULOPATHY, ARTHRITIS OF BACK, SPONDYLOSIS ETC. IT WORKS BUT I THINK YOU HAVE TO TAKE IT REGULARLY FOR BETTER EFFECTIVENESS.. BUT DON'T WANT TO RELY ON IT OR BE ADDICTED

No muscle relaxer really works that well for me, but this has worked the best so far. I have a bulging disc between L5-S1, and sponyloarthropathy (arthritis). The bulge sits on my sciatic root nerves. I get sharp shooting pain down my left leg and numbness in both feet, along with tight, tense, knotty pain in my lower back. This helps a little, but not much.

Interestingly, I was prescribed this after a head/neck injury and it treated my insomnia. So they kept me on it for my insomnia. I love it.
