A little stomach ache for a few minutes after taking the drug on an empty stomach. Eating food first eliminates that.

Indomethacin is a very effective medicine, and after two pills cut down the pain for me. I did not experience any side-effects while using it. I was happy with it.

I am 25 years old and have been getting severe gout attacks for the past 10 years. At first doctors couldnt figure out what was wrong with me, and I had to suffer. But after about 5 years of suffering with attacks (about 1 every month) they figured it out, and I have been taking this medicine. It takes a while for it to work, but once it kicks in, it is like I am a new person. I have to keep crutches in my cars just in case, but if i feel an attack coming on, i take one pill and if i catch it soon enough, the attack goes away completely. This medicine is saving my life. If not for this medicine I would be bed bound. Ive tried everything, and this is the only thing that works on severe gout!!!Read More Read Less

BEST gout medication ever made. Dr has tried me on many others but I always have to go back to Indocin for a major flare up. Nothing comes close to relieving the pain and swelling. I always have some around just in case. I get the gout 2 or 3 times ayear for the last 30 years. I eat wrong, red meat, spicy stuff and drink alot of beer. Indocin keeps me going. LOL

Had terrible pain in the toe joint area from wearing too tight shoes. After 2 days of pain went to Dr. Checking on possible gout also. Started drug in the evening and after 24 hrs pain was almost gone. The surprising part is that it also eased the pain in my hip (possible hip replacement in the future) and other joints.I feel almost "normal". Minimal side affects this far after 2 days. Not sure if this is a good drug for long term use. Any comments?

Took a day and a half to begin effectiveness. Swelling has been reduced but not eliminated. Some bowl issues even though I take it with food & at least 16 oz. of water. Diet pop, red meat & heavy beer was consumed 1 day prior to attack. Waited 2 days before calling doctor. Should have called him 1st day. Pain and tenderness was 11 on a scale of 1-10. Completely imobile. Was considering amputation. Advil was no help 1st 2 days. Slight headache 3rd day of use 3 on scale 1-10. Done with soda & beer.Read More Read Less

This is my second bout with gout in the last 16 months. Both times it was taken in the 7-9 range of pain on a scale of 1 to 10 approximately 24-36 hours after the symptoms began. 24 hours later pain subsided, swelling reduced by half. 72+ hours later the swelling is minimal with no pain. My gout was presumed to be caused by: 500mg daily doses of aspirin for a superficial blood clot for 3 weeks prior, dehydration from long-term use of HCTZ [diuretic] and insufficient intake of water with consumption of 60-80 ounces of diet soda each day for 2 days prior to start of gout symptoms. Aspirin use was discontinued 24 hours before doses of indomethacin started [advance research] and consumption of water daily has been increased to the 48-72 ounce range. After effects: I have noticed a slight bright red tinge in my stool the 3rd day of use, slight upset stomach during first and second doses taken with food and headache in first 24 hours with a pain level of 1 on scale of 1 to 10. Now that I know what the symptoms are for my condition, soreness and some pain in the big toe join, I start my medication as soon as I can. This worked for the last outbreak, about the same time last year and I am hoping it gets under control again this time.

Taken to relieve brusing and swelling after a total hip replacement. Also was given warfarin (blood thinner) to prevent clotting. Resulted in bleeding ulcer.
