I have had insomnia for years and have been prescribed an array of medications to treat this problem. Most of the medication I was prescribed was either ineffective or had side effects, most commonly was lethargy and mental fogginess the following day. Several years ago I received a prescription for Ambien (Zolpidem 10 mg), this medication changed my life! For the first time in years I was able to sleep for 7-8 hours per night and wake up refreshed and clear headed. I found the generic brands varied in effectiveness. The Mylan brand worked best. Though they say you should take medication for sleep for a short duration, I doubt the people making the recommendation have ever experienced true insomnia. The inability to sleep is a hellish condition, especially if you work in a position that requires intense concentration and has deadly consequences for lapses in your full attention. I had troubles sleeping since childhood. But after I got my Permanent Head Damage (aka PhD) in Comp. Sci., insomnia became bad. After I was diagnosed with a thyroid condition, it became really bad. Ambien is a lifesaver for me. Even when I'm having spells of hyperthyroidism, I'm hot as hell and have palpitations, and nothing else helps me sleep - ambien just works. With this drug, I can sleep, work, go fishing, study, hike, do research, be productive, enjoy life.... I am not building tolerance to it even after years of use; I'm still taking less than 5 mg. Side effects are pretty manageable. Cognitive impairment is incomparably less than on any other sleeping pill like Ramelteon, or Mirtazapine, or Gabapentin. Which is incredibly important for me - with Ambien, I can work according to my occupation and even do research. I know that it is not good to have a dependence on medication, and I'm doing my best to limit its usage. But still, this is a med that allows me to live a normal life and be a productive member of society.Read More Read Less

When I was young, I never needed anyone... (song lyrics) and I could fall asleep anywhere, anytime. NOW it's much more difficult to shut my brain down. I've had insomnia that has been a combination of things, both mental and environmental. My doctor prescribed 5mg and I've been using it for almost a year, but very sparingly. Since last November, I've only refilled 30 pills 4 times (do the math). I don't take it all the time, but when I know I NEED to sleep and have the luxury of 7-8 hours, I take this and for ME, it works like a charm. I fall asleep usually within 5-15 minutes and stay asleep (except for the occasional bathroom trip) and I usually awake feeling REFRESHED and not groggy at all! I've also noticed I don't remember any dreams and my sleep seems so sound that I honestly wish I could take it every night. I don't because, as you all know, it can be addictive. I think this is a terrific medication, but reviews seem a little silly since it's so different for everyone. That said, I hope this review helps someone out there.Read More Read Less

My sleep apnea doctor prescribed this for me when I sleep at night using my CPAP machine. The side effects of this medicine made me feel like I was seeing things and talking out of my head. I began to hallucinate too. Also, I became very weak and couldn’t walk when I took it. I will never take this medicine again.

The medication changed my life for the better and has helped me sleep. I have experienced in lower dosages that it would only relieve my anxiety and make me be productive without the intent of sleep

I'm from USA and i usually take Zolpidem Tartrate 10mg before go to sleep. It still helps me a lot even i've been already on it for about 1 year from now so I don't know if I'm addicted or not but for sure i sleep like a baby ! I order it online like most of those that don't have a medical prescription and i get it from offertunnel.com in about 5/6 days anonymously and without Customs issues.

Great sleep medication. I was on diazepam and it did not work for me. However, the only prescribed sleep medication that gives me 7-8 hours of sleep is Zolpidem Tartrate 5 mg.

I have been taking generic ambian for awhile with no issues but our Walgreens just switched to AUROBINDO generic and it’s terrible . Not only do I have problems falling asleep but I started to get depression , nausea , headaches. Never felt this before until this past month of taking this brand of zolpidem . It’s very concerning what is in this medication.

It helps me fall asleep but it is not 100 percent sleep for 8 full hours. Has some side effects like making a sandwich in the middle of the night but not eating it etc. Definitely not the Halcion that we used to get for sleep.

This is a good sleep aid. I have struggled with sleep for as long as I can remember. I have always had an issue with "shutting down" and when I do fall asleep, staying asleep. This medication definitely helps me get more restful sleep. I also do not experience any tiredness the next day. For the most part I feel rested and are able to function normally.

I have been suffering with Insomnia on and off for around 12 years. After 3 appointments with my GP over 3 years I am banging my head against a brick wall because he will not give me any sleep medication including Zolpidem. I took matters into my own hands as a result 3 years ago after extensive research and decided to grow some Cannabis plants to produce the oil for sleep only. It made one hell of a difference to me and has been a life saver. I don't particularly like the drunk feeling though before sleep but I usually sleep through it and when I awake the effect has almost gone. Until very recently I didn't know you could buy Zolpidem online but I had my 1st lot of pills 4 months ago, 30 10mg pills which cost me £40. I only use them occasionally as I don't want to build up a tolerance to them and so use the Cannabis oil on most nights. Sominex, an over the counter medication also works quite well but I break them in half because of the grogginess the next morning but they suit me much better than the Nytol One a Night as they rarely worked. I havent had any medication at all for the last 3 days of writing this and last night I only got 3 hours sleep. If I take my Cannabis oil (I put 0.3mg in a gelatin capsule) and also have a Zolpidem I usually get around 9 hours sleep but I rarely do that. If I have a full Zolpidem on it's own I can get around 6 hours sleep with no side effects. The only side effect with the Cannabis oil other than the dizziness is a very dry mouth if you wake up in the middle of the night. Despite what you hear on the news, Cannabis is NOT addictive and you cannot overdose on it. If anyone has any questions I'm happy to help if you want to email me. johncon2 at hotmail.com.Read More Read Less

This has put me to sleep for years. I would like to get off them but,I don't sleep a wink if I don't take it. ED is a big problem over long term use for me and have started to notice other symptoms such as anxiety, mood swings, unfocused thoughts. I've just started antidepressants to relieve some of f that but there are side effects that add to the ED problem. How do you just give on sex????? sleep!???

10mg for almost 20 years now. If I was reviewing brand name Ambien, then it gets ten stars across the board. I used to be able to take that. When I did, I would have about 15 minutes to get to where I was sleeping for the night. Since being switched to generic it has been considerably less effective. I'm a firm believer that generics are not always equivalent, and my experience here bears that out. I can sometimes take one orally and have zero effect. Different generic manufacturers produce different effects, too. At one point my insurance allowed me to get Edluar (sub-lingual), and it was wonderful. 10 minutes and I was asleep. Since they disallowed it, I decided to try dissolving the ordinary immediate release under my tongue to varying success. For the most part it works great. It isn't really all that bad in terms of taste, so long as I keep it trapped tightly with my tongue. If you try it, place it under your tongue just as you are turning out your light to go to sleep. It takes a bit to dissolve completely, but probably 70% of the time I'm asleep before it has finished. I rarely get an amnesiac effect using this method. That said, there are still times where I feel no effect, and may have to take a second. Bear in mind that this is designed to put you to sleep, not keep you asleep. Half-life is ~3 hours. However, I've found that if I am able to fall asleep initially, I am almost always able to get back to sleep if I do wake in the night. I would estimate an average of 7-8 hours of decent sleep. My insomnia is related to deeper mental health issues, so your experience may be better.Read More Read Less

I have to cut pill in half, sometimes thirds, because full pill turns me into a useless zombie following day. I take 15 minutes before laying down, gets me to sleep and only wake 2-3 times during sleep, mainly to readjust position. Dream well. However, even with just half a pill, I can't get myself out of bed for about 10-12 hours, I experience severe vertigo for 1-3 hours accompanied by 4-5 hours of dopiness, and experience a near total loss of meaningful cognitive function and any motivation to get anything done. Zolpidem (generic) is NOT to be compared to Ambien, as Ambien has none of these awful side effects. Sadly, the existence of Zolpidem and price-gouging in the US has prevented insurance coverage for Ambien and purchase of Ambien for the millions of us without insurance. Zolpidem is not safe, for hours after waking up I am still unable to drive without being under the influence. FDA should take this drug off the US market. In the meantime, it would be much safer and productive, sadly, to live with chronic insomnia.Read More Read Less
