Took it twice a day intravenously every 12 hours . I had a pump that got the meds into my vein. My night time dose was at 9:30 pm so I was often already asleep. I did not experience any side-effects, but it did get itchy by the last day just by being covered for that long. Having the pump meant I could leave the hospital sooner and recuperate in my own home.

My 77 y/o diabetic mom had total left knee replacement surgery 6/25/13. 2 wks after surgery, she developed severe incision redness & went to ER for 6 hrs. They took xrays, did blood work, sent her home w/oral Keflex prescription. 3 days later had return appt w/Ortho surgeon who immediately placed her on at-home IV antibiotic for 10 days. At 7/25 return appt w/Ortho surgeon, said infection wasn't responding to the antibiotic & immediately admitted her to hospital for surgery to clean, etc the wound. She was in for 6 nites. Culture showed Morganella Morganii bacteria. She's got a PICC line IV, is homebound for 6 wks at-home administration of 1 x daily Ceftriaxone (which per her labs is working well), after completion of this therapy she'll transition to oral CIPRO for min 6-12 wks. There's 30% chance of bacteria returning. Scary, but thank goodness for the meds. Other than developing 2 groin boils/welts due to antibiotic(s) she's doing well and this med is working.Read More Read Less

Drug worked very well administered by the nurse in the hospital Beware that some insurances won't pay for it. Check your policy. I am getting the runaround a year later. Wonderful drug if your insurance pays for it.

14 days after I had been on this medicine, I got the worst allergic reaction of my life. My entire bod has broken out in a bright red rash, and after 3 days it is still spreading after I have discontinued the drug.

I'm only two weeks into a six week regime and the drug seems to be working. I guess the proof in the pudding will be at the end of the six weeks and the bacteria stays away. I will update when the doses are completed.

My husband was hospitalized for Lyme Meningitis and after only two doses, there was incredible improvement. He is now home with a PICC line for the remaining course of treatment at home and jokes that this medicine should be renamed "Life". I am so grateful that this medication is available, well worth the chllenges of having to administer at home.

I had a PIC line and was on Ceftriaxone for 6 weeks. I noticed an immediate improvement. I did have to be hospitalized due to high fever which is a possible side effect of the medication. I also noticed that once I was off of Ceftriaxone I got worse again. All in all, I was happy that I went through this treatment.
