I have been taking this drug for about 5 weeks now, and have already noticed a decline in how many cigarettes I smoke per day. You won't "quit overnight" but this drug sure does make the process a lot easier. None of the OTC stuff worked for me, and I have NO willpower. This is the only thing I've found that works in my situation. Good luck if you're quitting! :)

I noticed a difference almost immediately and didn't care whether that was pyiological or psychological. However, two years on this drug, I'm experiencing a rapid heart beat (for me that is 84-98 resting). I'm not overweight and in ok shape. Occasionally, I use Zolipem and Lorazepam for sleeping and anxiety issues, respectively. I admit to being under a lot of stress and could be convinced that the heart beat is anxiety related. However, after reading more about the side effects of Budeprion, Zolpiem, and Lorazepam, I now wonder if this isn't exacerbating the problem. I feel like I'm in a viscious cycle because I hate the rapid heart beat, in interferes with sleep, and then I get anxious because I think it's the drugs. Anyone out there having these same issues?Read More Read Less

I have used both the generic and name brand of this medication and the name brand worked so much better for me. I have been reading on this subject lately, and it turns out there is a huge difference between the two and rate they are released into your system. The generic form is released almost entirely within the first four hours. After that, almost nothing....that explains why I felt great in the morning, but by afternoon, I felt really crappy...

I am only on day four of using Budeprion sr, so I can only comment on the initial effects I have been experiencing. I am taking one 150mg a day and at day 8 I will be starting to take two. So far I have been feeling a little jittery with mild dizziness on occasion and faster heartrate. Food is not as interesting which is good since I overeat when bored. I definetly have felt less tired during the day, but I have been very snappy and impatient especially with my children which is the complete opposite of what I was hoping for (although I control my temper with them even though I sometimes want to lose it). I know it takes a while to feel the full effects of the medication and I will stick with it for a while. I hope it works and this temper is temporary. Its hard to imagine a light at the end of the tunnel but I'm trying to stay positive that there is one.Read More Read Less

I initially started taking this drug to quit smoking. It worked beautifully for that with minor side effects of sleeplessness on occasion and I lost my appetite completely for two weeks. Now I am taking it for my recurring severe Seasonal Depression. It has done very little in helping me. I feel lathargic, groggy and still severly depressed. My anxiety has gotten worse and I have gained more weight since being on the drug for my depression. I feel exausted all the time but I can't sleep, and caffeine doesn't help get me up anymore. I feel very impulsive and I have been doing things I would never normally do. It has effected my college work (can't concentrate)very much, and just in time for finals. I'm giving it one more week in hopes that me taking over a month off from the drug (mid-oct. to late-nov.) has resulted in me needing to get used to it all over again. Read More Read Less

I just started these pills about a week ago. Ever since then, I have been extremly moody and very lethargic. I was on Citralopram and then switched to these because Citralopam made me gain weight. Any light at the end of the tunnel that anyone has experienced? Is my body just getting used to the pills?

Easy to use. No bad taste. Few 'noticeable' negative side affects. Ony only really is feeling 'foogy' sometimes and nausea. Otherwise very worth it.

I have been on the meds now for 3 weeks and I tell you that I can really see a change. I now have energy without the jitters or shakes and I really feel good and can get up in the mornings with a wonderful attitude. I am not easily agitated nor screaming at the top of my lungs. The only negative is the eating. I thought this was suppose to suppress the appetite but overall I am well pleased with the results so far and I only wish I could have started this many moons ago.

I left the review below this one a little while ago. I just wanted to come back and say that my pharmacy recently gave me a generic called bupropion made by global. Beware this stuff does not work. I was back to my depressed and compulsive self within a week. I realized what was going on and went back to budeprion and was better within 2 days. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up.

This med works good for me. I switched from lexapro to this because lex made me too tired. Budeprion sr immediatly helped my lethargy and compulsive behaviors, in about 1 week my insomnia was gone and my mood is just now starting to improve at 4 1/12 weeks. My Dr. says full mood effect can take 1-2 months to begin. The 1st week was rough due to the stimulant effect of this medication, I was shaking pretty bad and just felt like I was high as a kite. This passed though and I have no problems with it at all.I do have to take a stool softener because of the constipation that seems to come along with this med.Read More Read Less

In addition to working well with my depression,it energized me somewhat as compared to SSRI's.To my surprise and the surprise of my treating professional,it completely eliminated a compulsive disorder I had in conjunction with my depression.I plan to research this further. This may be related to Wellbutrins effect on Dopamine levels. I know it is marketed as Zyban to treat smoking addiction, and the effect on my compulsive behaviors could be similiar to the effect on an addiction.

This medication gave me severe insomnia. I didn't want to combat it with a sleep aid so I decided to stop taking it. It made me shaky and nervous.

I have only been on this medication for about 2 weeks but I already feel a little better. The only thing I do not like is my sleeping pattern is worse. I go to sleep easily but cannot stay asleep or wake up at 2-3 am and cannot get back to sleep. It might take time though and will talk to my dr on my next visit.

When I started this the doc told me to start with 1 time a pay for the first 3 days and then go to 2 times a day. The first time that I went up to the 2 times a day it made my anxiety/panic attacks worse. I was only having 1 or 2 a day. That day I had 5 or 6. The next day I took the same dosage thinking that side effects get better with time but I couldn't handle having so many attacks. Called doc and said to cut back to one for a few days and then they want me to start Effexor...We'll see how that goes.Read More Read Less

I was having suicidal thoughts and had no enjoyment out of life. I noticed that, after taking 300 mg a day, I actually started having days where I could feel happy, even if the moments were fleeting. Depression is such a monumental disease, ridding you of joy, therefore anything to look forward to, relationships.... I am on the road to dealing with it, thanks to this medication.
