I have been taking this drug for about 5 weeks now, and have already noticed a decline in how many cigarettes I smoke per day. You won't "quit overnight" but this drug sure does make the process a lot easier. None of the OTC stuff worked for me, and I have NO willpower. This is the only thing I've found that works in my situation. Good luck if you're quitting! :)

I started taking Buderprion SR one month ago for depression. I did not experience any of the common side effects. I did experience the uncommon side effects after a couple of weeks of taking the drug. I experienced joint and muscle pain, that got worse and spread to more parts of my body as I continued to take the drug. My hair started breaking off and I developed a rash on my neck. It somewhat worked for my moods, but the side effects that happened to me were ridiculous. I stopped taking the drug after one month. I had a lot of the symptoms that are the same symptoms experienced with Lupus. I did research on Lupus and it can be triggered by taking medications, very scary!!!! You begin to wonder how many people are sick with Fibromyalgia, Lupus, etc.... that is caused from a drug(s) they are taking. I am going at my depression/mood swings holistically, no more drugs for me. Read More Read Less

I'm a 53 yr old female suggested to take bupropion 100mg once a day for mood swings. I was switched to budeprion and pharmacies have told me they're the same. Reading here, you are all saying they're not. That might explain why a simple wine tasting trip gave me a HUGE feeling of hangover worse than ever in my life. I know I had very little wine but it didn't matter...and this never happened on bupropion. I'm going to ask to go back to the first drug I took. P.S. Effexor was awful; irrationally adopted many pets on that drug, gained a bunch of weight (first time in my life) and got alot of fevers during a 2 yr stint of it. Awful. Read More Read Less

I was given Budeprion instead of my usual Bupropion. This form of the drug is terrible. I have headaches, feel loopy and am slightly nauseated. NEVER has a side effect from Bupropion or Wellbutrin. I never dreamed that there was a such a difference in generic forms of a drug. Stick to your guns and insist on Bupropion, do NOT accept Budeprion.

If a person is prescribed 150mg. 2 x daily, How would you suggest I take it? Right now, I am taking 1 at 8 am. and 1 at 4 pm. How do the rest of you guys take it if you are prescribed to take two pills daily?

Doc put me on 1-150mg-SR for a week, then on the 7th day started taking 2-150mg SR tablets together right away in the morning, which is usually my strongest craving time for a cigarette..so far, so good. I've been smoke free for 4 day's!! Only side effect is the headache, which is a common nicotine withdrawal...sex drive good, and loss of appetite, not too worried though.

Buproprion worked very well as my sole depression medication for a long time at 600mg/day. It had zero sexual sideaffects, unlike Zoloft. However, I had to cut back to 300mg when my Dr. and I realized it would occasionally cause very aggressive (scary) behavior. At 600mg it also caused me to frequently feel an extreme urgency to urinate. I now take 100mg of Zoloft to supplement the 300mg of Buproprion. My chronic and intense seasonal depression have been well controlled for the past 11 years. I now take Budeprion 300mg, which I believe is Buproprion. I'm investigating why the generic name changed.Read More Read Less

I was recently diagnosed with Epstein Barr, and have been on Lexapro for years and alprazolam for anxiety. My MD who diagnosed the Epstein Barr gave me a script for Budeprion SR 150mg to take with my other medications. I afraid to take it now after reading all the reviews. I guess he thought I needed it due to the fact that because of the Epstein Barr I was on a leave of absence from work to recover and got weepy and sad with no energy and slept alot. I think I will hold off on this, it sounds awful.Read More Read Less

Took it for 1 week. After the 5th day, I felt like I wanted to to throw up all the time, but couldn't. Also noticed that I began gritting my teeth and literally chewing my tongue. I've had generic bupropion before with no side effects at all. This Budeprion, however, in my opinion, is garbage and should be taken off the market. Don't let them tell you that the generics are all the same...they are not!

This didn't turn me into a zombie like Zoloft had. It works well. I still have ups and downs, but when I start the day, it's at a much higher/happier level than before, so the downs aren't as deep. Simple, stupid things, like missing my bus or forgetting to pick something up at the store are no longer 'end of the world' situations. In addition, it seems to have negated some of the hormonal side effects from my birth control pills, Ocella (like Yasmin). My appetite, especially the hormonal cravings around that time of the month are down, and my sex drive is up. I have, however, noticed that when I miss a dose (usually in the evening) the next day or so I'm more down. It's usually manageable and relatively subtle, however. Also, the effects of alcohol are more pronounced. It takes less to give me a buzz. And if I do drink enough for a buzz, the next one or two days are pretty low ones. I actually missed two days of classes due to one alcohol/budeprion hangover depression. All in all, I'm pretty satisfied with this drug.Read More Read Less

I have been taking Budeprion sr for 9 days to quit smoking and for mild depression and anxiety. I had a few side effects here and there, mild headache, stomach upset (in the first two days) and a feeling of extreeme alertness...but when i am driving (not all day, just a few hours after taking it) i feel a bit "weird" like "how did I get here" sort of thing. My craving to smoke has decreased but not entirely gone, although I must say they taste funnier to me now. I wish I could have got the name brand Wellbutrin, but even though I have great insurance they do not want to cover it and I can not see spending over 200 dollars for it. From what I read about Budeprion and how it differs from Wellbutrin I find to be true...it does get into your blood stream faster hence a period of almost feeling like i'm coming down from a high in the evenings. I'm supposed to increase to 300 but haven't yet...I guess i'm scared of more side effects. Overall the good outweigh the bad so far.Read More Read Less

This is my 5th day of taking 100 mg in the morning daily. It made me feel better from day one by increasing my energy and focus levels and making me just feel a little better. I hope that it will continue to help me deal with my symptoms of depression. I wish I could up the dose already but I am gradually working my way to the right dose for me. I am a 23 yr old female student.

I have only been taking this med for 3 days and am experiencing spasms in both legs...I am not sure if this is from the medication or from the Multiple Sclerosis...I will attempt to stay on the medication to see if there are any results.
