Vigamox cleared the redness/swelling and discharge in my 7 year old son's eyes quickly. HOWEVER- within 24 hours of his first dose he developed 2 very bad nose bleeds. Blood literally poured out of his nose at some points and took about 2 hours of stuffing repeated cotton balls into his nostril(s)to get the bleeding to finally stop each time. A total of 4 of these nosebleeds and only 3 days into treatment later, I believe the drops are to blame and have discontinued use. I'm in contact with the Dr. to prescribe just basic Ciloxin GENERIC ointment. Why not start with tried and true methods and then proceed to the stronger (and very expensive) treatments if the infection persists? That's what is done with oral antibiotics to lessen the chance of the body's resistance to various bacteria. The same precaution should be taken with antibiotic eye drops as well! I'm disappointed with my Dr.'s recommendation and can't help but wonder if she was swayed into prescribing Vigamox because the drug rep had just recently dropped off free samples to their office. Hmmm. Funny that they just happened to "run out" of these prior to my son's visit, yet refused to write a script for the ointment saying Vigamox was the only way to cure his pink eye! We can expect health insurance rates to keep sky rocketing if Dr.'s insist on prescribing such expensive medicines immediately without trying the older and less expensive remedies first. Vigamox retails at $120.00 at Walgreens for a small 3ml bottle!Read More Read Less

1st 3 drops not a problem. 4th drop at night, took my Lipitor RX and for 3 hours had a headache like I have never experienced before in my life. It hurt to blink and I had to try to sleep sitting up because of the pressure. Will not take any prescribed medication with these drops. But this morning less redness on my lid and no itching.

I was prescribed this medication for a corneal abrasion. It has worked wonderfully. Pain decreased to almost nothing within a few hours. I'm on my second day of taking it, and my vision has improved, the pain is gone, and my eye is no longer swollen shut. My only complaint is the price. $85! Well worth it though.

Started using this drop after cataract surgery along with another required drop. After putting drop in eye, experienced a burning sensation in both arms, which lasted about a minute. Used drop for 2 days, 4 times a day, before reporting this problem to the doctor. His office replied, continue use and if problem gets worse, contact family physician. Not satisfied with this response as family physician had not prescribed the drop. After calling back, was told to stop both drops, and given another prescription drop that is working fine now.Read More Read Less

I'm on my third day of medication for a bacterial infection in both eyes. Within 24 hours of starting the medication, my eyes stopped running. Today they are still red, but I have no discomfort. So far I've had no side effects except some very minor eye irritation (itching) yesterday. This is a very effective drug.

i just finished my 3rd day of taking vigamox and am pretty happy with the results. the drug seems to be working well. nearly all the redness in my eyes has gone away but idk if im slightly allergic to the drug or not. i had a cold before i got pink eye so my dry-at-night then constantly-running-during-the-day sinus problems are probably due to my cold but the 2nd day i took the drug i couldnt stop sneezing (and i almost NEVER sneeze even when i have colds and i dont have seasonal allergies either). a few minutes after the last application of the 2nd day somehow the drug seeped thru my sinuses and into my throat. the taste nearly made me puke. near the same time i couldnt stop coughing. it was like my lower throat had been dried. my left eye especially (the eye most affected by the pink eye) has also been pretty dry-so warning to users: it may cause driness to applied areas! but as for the effectiveness of vigamox, i recommend it. i had a serious case of pink eye in my left eye and after three days theres barely any pink leftRead More Read Less

My three year old daughter and one year old son had pink eye and were prescribed Vigamox. I had no idea it would hurt, so my poor daughter was actually excited about it! I tried it myself, and although it wasn't super painful, it kind of feels like something is scratching your eye. Both of the kids' pink eye cleared up within days.

My eye infection started clearing up the 2nd day I used these drops. They stung a little the first few times I used them, but it was very minor. I've been very pleased with the results.

My 5yr old has a mild case of pink eye. I took her in as it started to develop. while the drop cleared the bit of ead and little discharge she had in a day, she had extremely bad headache, her throat hurt, her face and dispostion changed as well. I took her off of it. Mentioned to a friend and she said this is too strong for children.

My 3 year old is crying right now and has been for the last half our because his "tounge hurts" before that it was his nose "burning" (day 1)and his "cheek hurting"(day 1 and 2). Day 1 his eyes were also puffy after the first few applications. This is our 3rd day. It has been traumatic trying to put it in his eye since I assumed I had to try and put it directly in it. Thank God for this site and the post that recommended the closed eye method. I will try that after calling my Pediatritians office. Unfortunately I didn't gain ANY of the information that I have gained from this site from my Pediatritian. If I had it would have been worth it because it has worked and quickly. Without some guidance and caution though it has been quite the worry and hassle. Read More Read Less

My 3-year old son had pink-eye, and this medication seemed to clear up the redness pretty quickly. BUT he started breaking out in hives after the 4th dose. Another trip to the doctor, continued doses of Benadryl to counteract the allergic reaction, and treatment with a different (and much less expensive) eye drop cleared his hives and his eyes.

I was presribed this drug for my three year old Daughter. First day started clearing up. After the third dose she screamed and threw a fit trying to get drops in. She developed hives, welts all over her body and coughing. Now by reading these reviews know that she is having the same reaction as others. But her eyes look better.
