I'm at the end of my 3rd pack. I am 29 and this is my first time being on birth control. I am very slender and haven't gained any weight at all. No breakouts. I take the pill at night so I don't have any naseau either. This pill is VERY low dose so you MUST take it at the SAME time every day. You have a window of about 15-30 minutes. If you take it late by more than 30 minutes, you will hav...

I was on another version of Loestrin that they discontinued, so they put me on 1/20 Fe instead. It was okay at first; still had little to no period, almost no PMS symptoms, and I obviously wasn't pregnant. But as time went on (2 years in) I noticed that my sex drive plummeted. I had no desire to even think about sex, let alone want to have it. I'm always bloated and losing more than five pounds ju...

I just finished my first pack. I started this med for perimenopause symptoms. I also have multiple sclerosis. I am supposed to avoid excessive heat and need proper sleep. Besides hot flashes I wake from deep r.e.m. sleep. Week one was o.k. , but I still slept light , week two I experienced lower abdominal pain , week three I had severe hot flashes. By the end of that week I felt normal and slept well for about three nights. Week four my period was due and I started having issues with waking from deep r.e.m. sleep again , along with extreme breast tenderness & swelling. I haven't had my period , so I don't know if perimenopause is coming to an end or if the pill is keeping my period from arriving. Overall I feel that this is a good option for me and will continue to see what happens if I don't give up. Read More Read Less

If you take it late by more than 30 minutes, you will have bleeding enough that you'll have to wear a pad/tampon! I missed a pill by an hour and spotted for 7 days. If you are going through ANY type of emotional change or distress, I do not recommend taking this pill during that time. I had read up on the effects of this before starting so I was educated on it. After I started it, I wound up having a death in the family, a break-up and stress at work. I noticed that I was crying a lot more and had this overwhelming depressed feeling. At first, I thought it was because of everything going on in my life until I realized a major part of it was because of the pill. Someone might say something to me and I'd run to the bathroom and burst out crying all the while in my head thinking "why am I crying about this? this normally wouldn't bother me"...and then I realized it was the hormones from the pill. Thank goodness I am strong willed and have good family and friends who helped me through this time but please know it was VERY hard. So again, if you are going through any emotional distress DO NOT take this pill until you are emotionally sound again! It can drive some people to thoughts of suicide because you can feel so down. All in all, I am satisfied with the pill. Although I cannot attest to it's effectiveness yet as I had a break-up and am not sexually active right now. I do want to note also that my sex drive has not decreased in the slightest. If anything, it has increased. I had about 1 week of sore breasts but it was bearable. If you are stable, can take this pill at the same time daily, you'll be satisfied.Read More Read Less

I've been on this medication for about 3 months now. ( my first time using the pill) I spot for about 2 days decreasing my period time. Only thing i dont care for and noticed when i first started taking it was my decreased sex drive. i had rare breakouts before now i have none, no noticeable weight gain. Overall pretty satisfied

I tried this pill for 6 months on the recommendation that it would lighten my period and cramps. While it has done that extremely well (my period is very light, almost to the point were a tampon isn't needed and my cramps are pretty much gone completely), I had some other troubling problems. Before I started Loestin, my face was pretty clear, aside from the occasional zit here and there. After starting this pill, I am having more problems than ever with breakouts. The most troubling problem I had with the pill is that it made my hair fall out! I have very fine hair to begin so when I started losing handfuls of hair I started freaking out! I did not experience any bald spots but there was a noticable difference in the thickness and texture of my hair... my stylist noticed it immediately! I switched pills last week and I can already notice a huge difference in the shower, I am no longer losing giant handfuls of hair. What a terrible side effect! Read More Read Less

My doctor prescribed this medication to regulate my periods. It DID do that but it also made me gain weight rapidly, have super oily skin and tons of acne, become extremely fatigued, very very hungry and horribly moody. After fighting with everyone and crying all the time for no apparent reason, I decided to quit taking it. Best decision of my life! I'm currently taking Ocella, and have not experienced a fraction of that nightmare.

Was switched to this for my abnormally long period after the first medication made me too sick. This not only brought my period back it came back heavier than it's ever been. It's now been 14 days and I'm frantically trying to contact my doctors office to get a new prescription of something else.

I had been on Ortho Tri-Cyclen for 15 years and my OB suggested a new pill, Loestrin FE. She said it was not much different but my period wuld be shorter. I began taking the Loestrin and within the 2nd day I noticed a huge difference in my mood. Anything has been setting me off and I seem to be mad all of the time. I could see if I had never been on any bc pill before but since I have been I figured the side effects should not be so bad. I feel miserable and gloomy all the time so I have decided to go back to my Ortho when I finish this pack. Plus my sex drive is normally very high and now I have none plus an extra bonus of severe breast tenderness. Not fun............ Read More Read Less

I changed my BC pill, had my period and then started taking this one. I got over my period for 3 days and then got it again after taking 5 pills of Loestrin. I am going back to my original pill. I am extremely dissatisfied with this pill.

I have only been on this pill for a little over a week due to extreme pain while menstrating. I am extremely moody and slightly suicidal I feel like I am loosing my mind. My period has started again (I started the pill right about the time my period ended) and seems to be mimicking my normal periods with same flow pattern just slightly lighter. The doctors office says to stay on it longer as I have never taken BC before (had a copper IUD for almost 5 yrs and loved it but removed it to concieve my 2nd child). I am going to stay on it considering it costs $40 for ANOTHER dr. visit on top of $80 a week for our premium. I am hoping these problems go away and it solves the problem with painful menstration. I have been on this pill for about a year and am very glad I started it. I was on the Nuva Ring before and although that was much easier to use because you on'y change it every three weeks- my periods were much heavier. So heavy that I could only use super and super plus tampons. With this pill I get my period for 5 days or so and can use regular tampons. I didn't experience too much nausea in the beginning like I did when I took ortho tri cyclin in high school. I also have boobs thank you to this pill and that is fabulous! I have also not had any noticeable weight gain. I am about to start the generic 28 day loestrin and am hoping it is exactly the same. I acn't afford this pill any longer without insurance :(Read More Read Less

The pill has been easy to take and has not caused me any emotional problems that other birth control pills have caused me. I have had some bleeding between periods and also a drop in sex drive and I am only 25.

This pill advertises little cramping and three day periods. I have had heavy cramps and period for over a week with no signs of stopping. Birth control has never affected me in this way. Also my acne has actually increased instead of decreased and I have had great increases in my mood swings. I am changing pills next month.

I returned to birth control pills because my periods were extremely painful and heavy. I found myself taking a lot more ibuprophen than I would like. I've been on this pill for 3 months and have experienced PMS symtoms I never experienced before(headache, nausea, anxiety). The first month I had my period for 17 days (10 days longer than normal but normal to light flow).Months 2&3,my period came 10 days early and had it for 10 days and it stopped when i was to have my normal period.I think I will return to a traditional pill. I seemed to have less side effects. Read More Read Less
