The pills are too large. They dissolve too fast. They need to put a coating on them like some asprin have. They get stuck in the throat. Right now I'm suffering with stomach pain because I didn't take them with food. I'll never do that again.

Very hard to swallow for last 11/2 years I've been taking it. Started having swollen tongue, chest tightness, coughing, shortness of breathe 3-4 months after starting it. I have seen several specialists for all the side effects and my tests have been negative. I have stopped taking it for last 4 days and have seen some improvement. Wish I had looked closer at side effects sooner. I am stopping it until I see my doctor in a couple of weeks.

I still have low potassium in my blood despite taking this drug [20meq] like clockwork. People having trouble swallowing the enormous pills should do this: swallow with a viscous fluid- a fruit smoothie or similar. The pill goes right down, unlike when swallowing with water where it will get stuck every time!! Works for me! I take ALL my meds at once this way [13 pills!!] and I have zero problems. Hope it helps!

I am trying to take K-DUR to counteract potassium loss due to taking Lasix. It is difficult to swallow and falls apart in my mouth, throat, and esophagus. It turns into scratching, scraping shards or particles. These do not dissolve in water. I tried. They remain particles that must be swallowed and for me are not completely washed down with water. My esophagus has become so irritated it is uncomfortable and at times becomes spastic when I swallow food. After a talk with my druggist, she is changing me to extended release capsules which I have taken in the past with no problems. No more gravel swallowing sounds good to me. Good luck with your K-Dur. The stinkin thing is Huge and can get caught in the throat! Very Scary! Then I bit it and then bit it again. Now, I chew up the 4 pills 3 times a day and then flood my mouth with water to the the pill sawdust down the ole hatch. Bitting into smaller chunks is the only way to get it down the throat. They really need to redesign this thing! Taste isn't so bad, a slight taste of salt. the granules get themselves under the plates (for those of you with partials or full dentures) and that hurts! Yeah, I take 18 thousand milligrams per day of K-Dur to combat what the 160mg of Lasix strips away so that my heart doesn't go into A-Fib.Read More Read Less

Just started yesterday so can't tell the results of increasing potassium yet. The pill is soooo big. It really does hurt to swallow whole, nasty taste, drink plenty of water with pill, just keep drinking water.

taking because of extreme pitting edema in my legs. My son has Crohns and has had a very bad past week. We were at the hosptial and yesterday I realized how badly my legs were swollen. I took 120 mg of lasix and 3 K-dur, but THE CRAMPS IN MY LEGS ARE SO PAINFUL, WHAT CAN I DO AND WHAT WOULD BE A TOO MUCH 'DOSE' OF POTASSION.
