This is the only medication that helps my allergies without putting me to sleep. It does raise my heartbeat a bit, but when my doctor switched me to a generic of regular Allegra, it made me so sleepy that I couldn't work. It works very well and I've tried other medications such as Claritin, which gave me absolutely no relief.

I was tested by an Allergist at very early age and discovered to be allergic to almost everything under the sun--I took Zyrtec for a while, but it really didn't work--I took Claritin and also didn't work. Allegra-D is the only drug that cures all my symptoms with the mildest side effects (mild fatigue), It has truly saved months out of my life :)

I used xyzal for 2 months, and experienced no relief from my allergy symptoms, and nasal congestion. After one dose of allegra-D, my sneezing stopped, and I am no longer suffering from nasal congestion. I am able to go to sleep after taking the medication; however, I did wake up a couple of times during the night. I hope that my doctor can suggest a solution to the sleep problem, so that I can continue to take this medication.

This is a great product if you can get over the nausea. I will be hesitant to taking it again knowing how it will affect my stomach. I am on antibiotics as well which very well may have enhanced my nausea. Overall it did help clear my congestion like it said it would.

I like the allegra but my son just started to take it and it bothers him with his chest hurting, sleepiness, cough, fever and trouble breathing. I am taking him off of it until I talk to his doctor. he is only 14 years old, not taking a chance be careful with this with teenagers.

This has really made a noticeable difference in my allergy symptoms and resulting sinus infections. It makes me feel sort of loopy and dizzy sometimes but that's a heck of a lot better than severe sinus headaches and infections. The pills are large and hard to swallow with a sore throat, but overall I'm very pleased.

I wish I had checked these reviews before taking the night time dose. After two straight days in bed with phlem, sneezing, congestion, and sinus headaches -- went to the doctor -- she prescribed this and it worked awesome first dose -- got a lot done -- easy breathing, no sneezing, no runny nose -- WOW -- then took it at night (full 12 hours later) thinking I needed it -- now it's 4am and I've had about 2 hours of solid sleep!!! Calling tomorrow -- no more night time dose! AUGH and the stomach upset -- seriously!!! Water is helping. Read More Read Less

I have been taking Allegra for 3 weeks and I find that it is really affecting my acid refluex. I have throat discomfort, chest and stomach pains. I think it is due to using this medication.

Don't take medicine close to bed time. It will keep you up all night.

I started taking Allegra D due to regular Allegra wasn't working as well. I started using it every other day with the regular Allegra for about a month, then I was just using 1/2 the dosage everyday of Allegra D. There were a lot of colds going around and it kept me from getting sick. However, I started having a gagging sensation in my throat, Review #21 said it best-it felt like there was a ball inside stuck in my throat. When I would swallow it felt like something large was actually going down the esphogus. I was having so much discomfort I was taking aspirin to lessen that feeling of pressure, gagging. This was with drinking a lot of water and only half the dosage. I decided to stop using it to see if the syptoms decreased. Maybe a little by the 3rd day. Went to the doctor, I couldn't take it any more. She suggested I stop the medication-which I had-and use a vaporizer, and gargle with salt water, she saw my throat was very red. It helped a little. After a couple of days I tried the regular Allegra due to the sneezing, etc. This feeling came right back again. I never experienced this with just regular Allegra. It dried up my whole body, so be careful in using this drug. I took it with apple juice, and it didn't dimenish the effects at all. No nausea.Read More Read Less

This medicine makes me groggy and if I take it every 12 hours dries my nose and throat out too much. On the other hand, if I try to go without, I am sneezing and blowing my nose all day. I only take one a day and seem to do OK with that dosage.

Allegra-D does work very well for the treatment of my allergies, however, it is recommended you take this medication on an empty stomach. I have trouble taking anything on an empty stomach. If I eat something little like toast before I take it in the morning the side effects are not as bad. I was having headache, dry mouth, dizziness, and nausea. The product does work well you just have to get past the side effects. I take allergy medication year round, so I knew I would have to try and figure out how to control the side affects. Unable to take over the counter allergy meds, they cause very rapid heart rate and dizziness. Claritin also causes side effetcs. Allegra D is the best allergy medication around. No side effects thus far. If I miss a dose, I can definitely feel it.

I have used Allegra-D for about 7 years and it is a lifesaver. This is the ONLY medicine that has stopped my sinuses from profuse congestion. My itchy, runny nose, scratchy throat, itchy eyes, are all gone. if i miss a day, believe me, i notice it. it does indeed give you dry mouth, like most decongestants, but drinking lots of water is good for you anyway. i've also learned to take it in the morning instead of at night as it would keep me awake.

I was given this medicine for a sinus infection. I was without sleep for 4 days, nauseous at night and just plain miserable. Not worth the side effects, I couldn't work properly and effectively feeling that way.
