This is the only medication that helps my allergies without putting me to sleep. It does raise my heartbeat a bit, but when my doctor switched me to a generic of regular Allegra, it made me so sleepy that I couldn't work. It works very well and I've tried other medications such as Claritin, which gave me absolutely no relief.

I was on Allegra for two years before I lost my health insurance. I have severe allergies and was at times unable to function because of stuffy nose, fuzzy head, sneezing, itchy eyes, etc. My only issue with Allegra D 12 hour is that I could only take 1 a day instead of the recommended 2 (12 hours apart of course). Since it is non-drowsy, if I took a dose after about 3pm, I was unable to sleep at night. I did just fine on one dose and my doctor said it was fine as long as I kept taking it and it was working. I recently started a new job and hen my health insurance becomes effective, I hope to get back on Allegra. It is the only allergy medicine that works for me!Read More Read Less

Allegra D 12hr has been somewhat effective in preventing allergy related headaches. However, it has been somewhat ineffective with allergies which effect the swelling and itchy eye problems.

First of all, it drives me nuts that you have to take it an hr before meals or 2 hrs after and that you have to take it twice a day. I could do it in the morning but the later one is harder.....and if I take it close to bedtime, I am awake and restless like crazy. I never have insomnia...I can fall asleep w/in 5 mins any given night but w/ this med, I am all "nervous" feeling....my legs don't want to be still, I feel a slight increase in heart rate and anxiety....and everytime it happens, I swear I will never take the medicine again! (until my allergies get really bad, then I cave.) I was fine on the 24 hr pill (once daily) but this one drives me nuts because I am taking it before bed (well, 2 hrs after dinner). I am going to ask my Dr for a different Rx. Read More Read Less

Works wonderful and I wish I could take it twice a day like I was prescribed because I breath great all day! If I try to take it at night, I can breathe great but can not sleep due to leg cramps and insomnia!

I started feeling relief from my sinus pressure within an hour of taking my first dose. It worked great for several days and then I had a sinus headache on the 7th day. On the 8th day my heart rate really started racing. On the 9th and last day, heart rate up again and extreme dry mouth and throat. I can deal with the dry mouth but the racing heart rate just disturbs me too much.

I was on zyrtec before this but it wasn't very effective. Finally went to my dr. and she prescribed this. The tablets are really large but once you get the hang of swallowing them its not too bad. Sometimes I still have to take benadryl on top of it but its been better than anything else I have tried so far.

I was on vacation in Arkansas, and have severe sinuses. I had to see a doctor there and he prescribed me to Allegra-D due to my current medication was not helping. I have been taking it daily since then, and it helps a lot. I do get nausus, dizzy, and have trouble sleeping, but I have become accustomed to it and it no longer bothers me. I also use a neti pot to help with my symptoms. I would reccomend both products and have.

The only side effect of this drug is my inability to sleep. I am supposed to take twice a day, but am going to quit taking the night time dose. Other than that, it works quite well for me.

The side affects were too much on me. It caused Irregular heartbeat by raising my Pulse rate 25 Points above normal. Made me Dizzy and Experience all the side affects Listed under side affects, I've quit taking the drug. I feel better, I just wouldn't recommend this drug to anyone with asthma. or if you are prone to side affects especially with Psuedo-ephedrine.

I have tried almost all allergy meds and find that Allegra-D works best for my seasonal allergy symptoms. I have had no side effects and I highly recommend it.

I live in Hawaii and my allergies have always been pretty bad, but ever since the active volcano began spewing sulfer-dioxide or vog, it has been way worse. Clariton doesn't help, so my local girlfriend suggested I try her medication. Incredible!! I haven't had any of the dizziness or nausea that other people get. I just pop one in the morning and I'm golden! Love it!!
