nitrofurantoin: made me instantly nauseous and dizzy. also stomachache, headache and severe diarreah. will not take again.

I developed a rash over my upper body

I started meds on Friday the 13th twice daily. Since been I have been feeling cold, sleepy, achy and out of it and I am still not feeling better. I find myself wondering how much longer do I wait before calling the doc again.

This medication seems to work. I am taking it for 1 month and I am in my third week. It has made me very tired and I am developing muscle cramps in my legs. I also find I MUST eat when I take it or the stomach ache is awful. But it works, no symptoms of UTI since I started taking it.

I have been taking this drug for the past two months, and now taking it when I begin to feel a UTI coming on. It has made my life alot better!

I was given this medicine to take twice a day for seven days. After the 7th day I went back to have a urine test to make sure the infection was gone. However, it was not. So they told me to take it again twice a day for seven more days. But the infection is still not gone. I will say that while I was on the medication it did make me feel better, it just didn't get rid of the infection.

At first I was given Bactrum and that was horrible. Doctor called this in for me and by the following morning I was feeling better.

I love this medication! I could feel it working within a few hours. Luckily, I didn't experience any of the symptoms.

After first two 100mg pills, "knocked me out." Slept most of day and night for 36 hrs, getting up every 2 hrs. for toilet. Suffered nausea, frequent loose bowels, overall felt very, very ill. Stopped taking on 5th day out of 7 prescribed on advice of doctor by phone. Doctor not familiar to me, emergency status. Not urologist.

wish there were some alternative to this effective drug as i feel zonked out, dizzy, weak in the legs w/ tingling skin and cold estremities. anybody with suggestions to avoid post coital cystitis?

i am on day 5 of taking this drug. i hate it! i have extreme nausea and a horrible headache. i just feel horrible all day. eating a lot helps a little. i recommend taking a different drug for utis

I was diagnosed with a UTI and I started taking this medicine 2 days ago. The first day after taking it, I felt like I lost 10lbs...It took away my bloated feeling completely. I will say that it has made me EXTREMELY dizzy and unable to concentrate...I have caught myself making really bad spelling errors while on this medication. Other than those problems, I am ok so far..I will update if anything changes. Oh yeah...I have a little bit of acid reflux also.

This was an absolute help for my issue - constant UTIs. After using this as a prevention drug (taken after intercourse, due to it causing UTIs), I have seen an extreme decrease in UTI occurrence. Im sooo happy Ive begun using this drug as a treatment, as having a UTI about every three to four weeks was painful - not to mention not good for my health. The only issue is having to eat when you use it, and if you dont it will give you a rough stomach ache

This medicine was not good for me.... it didn't treat my UTI. the only thing it did for me is gave me diarrhea really bad.

This medicine caused severe nausea constantly while using during the 7 days prescribed. I was also unusually dizzy during my awakened hours.

After second day of use started to vomit and continued doing so for 14 hours. 6 months with E Coli and my doctor wants me to try this stuff again.

I did not like the four times a day dosage as it was hard to take with food that many times a day. I got intestinal gas and my skin was sore after the fifth day over my belly. Felt tired the first couple of days and really do not think it completely cured the infection.
