Dr cycles me on for 5 days and off for 2 days. It keeps your body from building up a tolerance to the medication. Take a month break every few months along with cycling on/off each week. Lost 77 lbs, kept it off during the month long breaks. I have 30 more lbs to loose, eating low carb and calorie, healthy fats and lean protein. Exercise 4 times a week.

I started this medicine 02.25.16, and weighed 235 lbs. As of 04.04.16, I weigh 211.4 lbs. I have lost 23.6 lbs. The only side effect that I have had has been dry mouth. I drink a ton of water every day now, and I cannot stand the taste of sodas. I do still drink sweet tea with my dinner. I also work out 60 minutes a day at least 5 days a week on the elliptical or treadmill. After having a neck and back injury at work, my doctor was not happy with the weight that I put on while I sit here at the house trying to heal. So far the medicine is working for me and I am happy with it. I am glad that I am losing this weight and getting back to my normal weight. My doctors goal is 165 and my goal is 150. I am 5'9" and 28. I have mixed feelings about this drug. I had energy but a bit to much energy, I wanted to go go go and not stop, I would start one household project, in the middle of it get side tracked with another, then again with another, I wanted to do EVERYTHING at once, not quite a bad thing but my mind would not slow down for HOURS and I would sweat profusely!!! I mean pour sweat within just 30 mins after taking it, after about an hour I would be soaked like I just got out of the shower. I loved that it gave me energy and the will to get stuff done, I didn't want to eat...at all, I would have to force myself to eat, once again, somewhat not a bad thing, but I would take it in the morning, it would kick in and I would get so sidetracked trying to get stuff done and I wasn't hungry that I wouldn't eat, I would take the pill around 10 am and by 7 pm I would realize I hadn't eaten at all, still wouldn't be hungry but would force myself to eat (all the while my mind racing thinking of what else I needed to do) I have heard that Adipex is "legal speed" and I now see why haha I literally felt like I was on speed for at least 10 hours, then at night when I would try to go to sleep I would be restless, tossing and turning and my mind still on overdrive. Once again, loved it but it was a little to much...Read More Read Less

Late Oct '15, my NP started me on 37.5 mg Adipex, 37.5 mg Metformin, and a 12.5 mg water pill. Late Nov '15, I lost 16 lbs and gained 2 lbs of muscle. Now, I have lost another 10 lbs through the "binge on food" holidays. I do not work out and barely count calories. I watch my sodium intake, reduced my portion sizes, and drink more than 1/2 gallon of water a day. Adipex effects my appetite by suppressing my thoughts for food due to mood and binge eating. It makes me see certain foods as disgusting or make them taste too sweet, greasy, and/or salty. Interestingly, when I eat fruit, veggies, lean meats, yogurt, and the good for you foods, I can "feel" the goodness going down. Yeah I know, sounds weird. The issues I have with Adipex is the dry mouth, extremely dry skin, mental haziness, and rare occurrences of insomnia. I hope that this helps! Be blessed... Read More Read Less

Has anyone seen the movie "Limitless" with Bradley Cooper? My first few weeks on the pill I began to believe "I understood everything now, my life came into focus." Lost 12lbs in 3 weeks. Energy out the roof and everything just seemed possible. Slight draw back through, didn't quite read the side effects well enough. The reason I bring this up is because I started to have several side affects myself. I do believe at one time I really didn't fall asleep for about 5 days. Rested with eyes closed yes, but asleep....NO. Then came the severe head aches towards the end of the day by week 4. Then there was another problem. ED!!! I am only 40 years old and for about 2 weeks straight it was like my penis was dead. Seriously..... No matter what my wife or I did during intimate time, my soldier never marched! That side effect on its own caused me to discontinue use of drug. And finally after 5 days of being off Adipex, my wife and I finally enjoyed relations again. So in the end, I have a truly "mixed" opinion of this drug. If it works for you great, but BEWARE this medicine does have a trade off.......Quick Weight Loss VS Physical Oddities affecting ones overall health......... And just like in "Limitless"........ there was a price to pay for taking the pill....Read More Read Less

Prescribed 1/2 tablet (37.5) for obesity - have actually gained weight consistently while taking it - I do notice that my appetite is somewhat diminished using it though. Advised to increase physical activity although chronic pain makes that very difficult and at time impossible & advised to decrease intake of hot fudge sundaes which has happened. overall I would say that it is a useful medication if you can combine diet & exercise into your weight management plan.

Aside from pretty severe dry mouth all the time, I've had no side effects: it just makes me "not hungry." In the 2 & 1/2 months I've been taking it, I have lost fifteen pounds with consistent outdoor exercise. I have only fifteen more pounds to go. Hopefully, I'll have taken care of that by the end of the summer!

5"5 black female in the late 20's age group with no underlying health conditions. Starting weight of 220lbs and lost 37lbs in 5 months of use. I will continue the use of this medication because it works for me and keeps me from being obese like I was. I am working to get to a normal range BMI. Slightly(not a lot) faster heart beat and dry mouth are my side effects I experience.

I spent most of my life between 175-180 lbs. Over the course of 4 years I gained 30 lbs, and I exercised regularly. I only took adipex for 2 months and along with regular exercise I was quickly down to 180-185 lbs. Four years later I gained the weight back and along with diet, exercise, and adipex I was able to get back down to 180-185 lbs. I know a lot about weight loss, and outside of a medical condition (thyroid etc.) it all comes down to caloric intake. If you reduce your caloric intake by 500 calories a day (3500/week), you will lose 1 lb a week without exercising. Adipex helped curb my appetite and allowed me to get into an acceptable caloric intake and form program and stick to it. Once you stop taking adipex it's important to not deviate too much from your caloric intake. Read More Read Less

I am 17 years old and weigh 351.6 pounds. This is my third day taking this pill, and I take one a day at 9:00 AM. In the last three days, I have eaten a total of about two and a half cups of rice. Everything else triggers a very strong gag reaction, and I am constantly nauseous. I will let y'all know when I meet with my doctor again how much weight I have lost. So far, terrible experience, but I am enduring in hopes for weight loss.

I started taking Adipex on 10/3/2014. My starting weight was 186 lbs. Today is December 1, 2014 and I weigh 172 lbs. I haven't exercised except for 2 times due to my busy work week. I have 50 lbs to lose. Prior to taking Adipex I exercised 6 days a week doing Zumba, UJam, BodyPump and BodyCombat and I only lost 3 pounds. I was so discouraged. I went off of the meds for 1 week because my weight loss slowed down and just started back today. Hopefully weight loss will resume and tomorrow I will resume my exercising. I'm on a 90% veggie diet and 10% protein (mainly nuts and sometimes boiled eggs) only because my body has a hard time digesting meet. I'm 43 yrs old until next month and I think this product works great. Most people might say that I probably wasn't eating enough calories which is why I wasn't losing weight before but I've been on a 1200 calorie diet and still couldn't lose the weight oh and I'm 5'3. I highly recommend this product to anyone that struggles with weight loss. If your weight loss slow down I read someone to stop taking them for about a week or two and they should start to work again. I'll be checking in again on Friday to let you all know. Good luck to you all on your journey.Read More Read Less

I have taken this pill on and off for 2 years. I take it for 30 days and then go off for 30 days. It is an amazing pill and if it wasn't recommended that you do not continue regular use I would take it everyday. I have a very large appetite and problems with eating. I can eat and eat and eat...but when I am on this pill I have no appetite at all! I have lost a total of 30lbs over the 2 years. The problem is when I go off of the pill it only takes about 3 days for my appetite to come back full force. I am convinced I have an eating disorder of some kind, so this may not be the case for everyone. All I know is that this pill is a miracle for me. I do have a rather bad side affect while I am on the pill though...I get completely constipated to the point of having absolutely no urge to go and cannot go without use of enema/suppository. For most I am thinking this would be a deal breaker but for me the loss of weight outweighs the needed regular use of alternative bowel stimulation.Read More Read Less
