I was prescribed Nasonex for chronic nasal congestion and it worked, really well. I had been on it for about 10 years (2x daily) when I started having digestive problems, severe heartburn and stomach pains. For over a year I went to many specialists and no one could figure out the cause, especially since I had never experienced these symptoms before. Finally, I went to a naturopath who suggeste...

My prescription plan refused to give me flonase and subsituted nasonex. I looked at box and it was manufactured in Singapore China and I am sorry but I am afraid to inhale anything that is made in China.

For severe, year-round allergies, this is the only thing that really works for me.

I was on this week for 3 week 2x daily and began to suffer from anxiety and panic attacks along with depression. I am off it for 4 days and still suffering depression but less severe. This drug can be very dangerous. Beware!

I started taking this due to allergies. I was having constant sinus drainage, stuffy nose and both ears were filled with fluid. I told the doctor I no longer took phlonase (excuse spelling) because it caused my nose to bleed so she prescribed Nasonex. I stopped it after about 2 weeks due to nose bleeds and scabs in my right nostril (but not my left). At first I decreased to 1 spray per nostril, but that did not help, so I stopped altogether. Took a week or so for my nostril to pretty much return to normal. I would not use this again. I am currently using a natural nose spray from the health food store. This seems to be working. The ironic part is that my insurance pays 100% for the nasonex, but not the natural stuff that works from the health food store. Read More Read Less

I've used nasal sprays on and off for fifteen years. Most of them do have some type of side effect, but for me, it's been worth it. Much better than being terribly congested, which for me = NAUSEA, MIGRAINES, and with all of the phlegm production, CONSTIPATION. I have got to keep my sinuses clear in order to be happy. SO - Here's my opinion on Nasonex: Works great for me - I have not lost my sense of smell or taste. I do not get jittery or cold or nauseous or a headache after use. No nosebleeds or whistling. I have other issues, such as GERD, and this spray doesn't effect it (although I do take Prilosec daily). The only side effects that I experience are a redness at the nostril opening, and a slight burning sensation right after spraying. It is not a mist and therefore I tilt my head slightly forward when using it, and also "clear my throat" spit out any extra medicine (and phlegm) which drips down the back of my throat. I do not swallow it! I'm sure it COULD cause gastric problems if swallowed (just being logical). It works great, for me, and I used two sprays daily in each nostril at first, for about two weeks, and now only need one spray in each nostril daily. If you haven't tried it, it's worth a try.Read More Read Less

I've been on Nasonex for over 15 years. Two years ago I was found to have a severely suppressed immune system! Immuno suppression turns out to be a KNOWN side effect of Nasonex. My Immunologist is recommending a LIFE TIME of weekly immune factor infusions that take TWO HOURS to infuse and cost $150,000 a year. CLEARLY I need to withdraw from Nasonex before embarking on any treatment. I have also lost my sense of smell, AND every place smells like some one is smoking! I only read about these side effects here today. Of course it may be that Nasonex isn't the cause of my immune deficiency. And if I stop I will certainly experience terrible congestion, especially at night. It's always something!Read More Read Less

Last resort treatment to shrink an inoperable polyp. Used for 3 months, v.bad breathing problems, wheezing, croup-like cough. Stopped using once I read the leaflet, now have intense headaches every day (1 week so far) wheezing has almost gone but unable to walk up hill/stairs without breathing heavily. About a month in I went to the doctor because of breathing & wheezing & was given 3 day course of steroids, I asked if OK to take alongside the spray & he said OK. Clearly unaware of the manufacturers warning! Can't say about the taste/smell thing as I can't anyway!Read More Read Less

I have been on this drug for about 2 weeks and I found myself becoming very tired after doing small simple tasks. I also have had a sore throat with a white coating. I believe it also has affected my GERD (made it worse).... bottom line is NO MORE NANSONEX for me! Dizziness has increased as well and that's why my Doc perscribed in the first place.... I'm done!

DO NOT USE THIS STUFF! I have been using it for 4 weeks and have been to an ENT twice thinking i had a sinus infection. Headaches, earaches, teeth hurt (classic sinus infec symptoms) ... also had swollen throat, nose bleeding, right before i stopped using i had dizziness and nausea! I have thrown it in the trash, and just after two days i feel better. Oh, i even had xrays of my head and face to check for sinus infection. I'm sure the doc thought i was nuts. It was my family doc office that gave me the Nasonex to begin with for "post nasal drip" ! WILL NEVER USE THIS STUFF AGAIN !Read More Read Less

Clears my sinuses. Allows free breathing. Burns nose. Wonder How many medical problems are related to this drug after reading reviews. I get a head or chest cold that lasts 10 days, every other month.

I was prescribed Nasonex to treat nasal drip, rhinitis, which was causing acute coughing and voice loss. Although the medication did eventually work (it seemed to take forever), It caused nose bleeds , crusting and continuous stuffy nose, I have now been diagnosed with perforation of the septum and will be seeking further medical advise.

Was just prescribed this spray last week for a possible sinus infection. Was told to use it once a day and squirt it twice in each nostril. I would squirt it once per day since I do not like to put anything in my nose. After 3 days I went to use it first thing in the morning for my daily dose and as soon as I used it I immediately felt a burning sensation and then immediately lost all feeling in the right side of my face. My eye waters on this side, blinking is off in opposite eye and when talking I have lost the ability to move my face properly. The right side of my face also now appears to be droopy. Dr. has recommended I go to E.R. for a cat scan but since I am self employed I cannot afford insurance. Therefore, I am waiting a few days until I pursue this further. In the meantime, has anyone else experienced similar symptoms with this spray? Have discontinued use. Read More Read Less

I am sorry I had to put the stars in to get to the comments: I just wanted to thank you all for your comments! I was given Nasonex by my ENT today and I wanted to do a little research on it before I took it. Am I glad I did! After reading all of your commetns, this stuff is going right in the trash. I will take some nose blowing and sneezing over loss of taste, cataracs, nose-bleeds, headaches... -- WTH?? No thanks! Thank you all again so much!! I love the internet sometimes! :-)

This medication has helped to relieve my nasal congestion due to allergies and I'm hoping it will help to shrink my Nasal Polyps. I'm not able to smell due to the Nasal Polyps. This condition existed before I started using the Nasonex. I plan to go to my ENT to determine if Nasonex has helped to shrink the nasal polys. Has anyone found Nasonex to actually shrink nasal polyps?

I have been taking Nasonex for about 4 years with good results up until about a year ago. I've been averaging two to three upper respiratory infections per year. and for someone with asthma it is very difficult to endure an added breathing issue. I'm now going to try and get my Dr to prescribe something else. which won't be easy but i just can't take these infections anymore.

Nasonex works amazingly well for me. It has no smell, no aftertaste, and no side effects. I have zero nasal allergy symptoms while I'm taking it (which is year-round unless I accidentally run out). No other allergy medicine has ever done that for me. I would highly recommend it to any allergy sufferer.

I used this medication for several months many years ago. I stopped using it when I realized that it was causing nosebleeds and nasal irritation. Shortly after I stopped using it, I noticed a whistling in my nose. The whistling eventually stopped only to discover that I have a perforation in my nasal septem--a large hole in the cartilage between the nostrils. I have never used any other nasal spray or cocaine (or any other illicit drug for that matter), which I understand are other causes of this condition. I now live with nearly daily mild nosebleeds and constant congestion with dry, hard incrustations having to be removed every few hours to allow proper breathing. It took a while to realize what caused the problem, but the process of elimination makes it obvious that it was Nasonex.Read More Read Less

Everyone on this site is so dramatic. This medicine does exactly what it is supposed to do. It's worked perfectly for me with NO side effects. I think anyone who has a side effect from this actually something else wrong with them and they blame a simple nose spray!

No bad taste, easy to use, not too much spray volume, and keeps my nasal inflammation in check.
