taste terrible and gritty makes me sick to my stomach.

If you are having trouble taking this medication, I have found that using Vitamin Zero water - Lemonade 4 oz and put in a small shaker cup add powder then shake well and goes down a lot smoother. You need to add a little water to get the small amount that is left. This is a miracle drug - I went from going 7-8 times a day down to going twice a day and regular.

Struggled for over 10 years to control diarrhoea spasms,this drug was effective after 2 doses only side effect for me is the weight gain, 9lbs in a year and dieting is very difficult

Had two gall stones opted for removal of gall bladder after a year n a half of not being able to eat anything basically starving myself..doc gave this med to me n I love it. Only take one packet a day I have not gained weight or lost..my weight has stayed the same but I do not eat any fatty or fried foods I stick to my diet.

After 30 years of constant and intense abdominal pain and diarrhea, Cholestyramine solved the problem instantly. I had been misdiagnosed with IBD and IBS/D. After putting my life on hold for 30 years I can live again!

Taken this med for over 25 years. Has gradually come down on the amount of medication. Can't live without it. Life changing medication.

It gave me a stomach ache gas and have to urinate more than use too.

I have IBS and had almost constant diarrhea, nothing was working. The diets didn't work, other medication made me loopy or didn't work at all. Finally, I was put on this med and the change has been so dramatic, I can eat again! I just have to eat fiber and drink lots of water to keep from getting backed up but that's fine, I was doing that before I had IBS. I love this stuff!

Does this medication cause weight gain?

I am free to get out of the house without the thought of where are the bathrooms and should I wear a depends for protection. I am FREE!

This product is somewhat successful in controlling chronic diarrhea. But it has a grave side effect. It reduces cholesterol by primarily reducing HDL (the good cholesterol), so that the ratio of total cholesterol to HDL is increased thereby increasing the risk of heart disease. Based on my experience, I believe this product should be taken off the market.

Last year i had my gallbladder taken out. The surgen told me of the side effects that will occur but would go away which included constant trips to the restroom. After about 4 months of choosing when and what to eat because of the hours spent in and out of the restroom i went back to my family doctor. He chose different medicines to try before putting me on this one. I have been taking this medication for almost 2 weeks. It has definitely helped but i have had a lot of side effects. one was burping which was soo gross because it always tasted like eggs. I stopped this by cutting all soda n caffine out of my diet. The worst side effect that is suppose to be rare is a swollen abdomin. I litterally look like i'm 5 months pregnant. I called my doctor and his response was your body is now absorbing nutrients and you are just gaining weight. This is not okay no matter what he says. The only way i have figured out to make the swelling go down is to stop the medication but if i do this im back to square one. I need more help if anyone out there has had this happen or can help please reach out to me. Oh yeah this medication seems to wear off as i sleep because i spend 1 to 2 hours in and out of the bathroom every morning. It sucks. 4 hours after taking my first dose I became very groggy and tired. I went to sleep and slept all evening and all night. 3 days later I still have not moved my bowels.

Diagnosed with major ulcers and severe GERD and been on meds for it approximately 4 years. Had an episode of vomiting for days in July ER doc gave antibiotics which made it worse. Saw gas/ent doc who scoped me in August. Diagnosed inflammation in the whole stomach and lesions that were biopsied as non hodgkins lymphoma gastric MALT. Had 3 weeks radiation 5 days a week(last treatment in 3 days) and still have to take this 4 times a day to stave off the nausea and vomiting. It's a miracle. I can tell if I miss a dose. I've had chronic diarrhea for over a year and 2 GI doctors couldn't fix it. Went to try one more and he said try this. Worked wonders. As a matter of fact it worked to well. Had to back off and only take it every third day. But it's been a great feeling not to be afraid to go somewhere unfamiliar (not knowing where the bathroom is).

I have suffered from Chronic Diarrhea for much of much of my adult life. It has gotten much worse over the past several months. I talked to my doctor and he prescribed Cholestra Light 4G Pac. I am amazed that my diarrhea stopped after only using the product for 7 days. I am almost 79 years old and for the first time in many years feel ok about going out and not looking for the closest bathroom. My doctor said he knows it works because he take it for the same condition.
