I had vertigo and some associated motion sickness. Med knocked it out within two hours after suffering with the vertigo for 2 weeks. I do have some sleepy moments (I take a short 30 b minute nap during my lunch hour.) But feel quite good after with no drowsiness after and ready for another four to six hours. I am sleeping a lot but I'm also no longer feeling like I am on the verge of fainting ...
I am a little confused about using Meclizine as I don't get dizzy while standing or moving around, just when I'm sitting or lying down. It says for motion sickness, nausea, etc. which I don't have a problem with. Meclizine seems to work fairly well, but I'm still confused.

I would say the drug works wells as I am no longer SPINNING. I am however SLEEPY as heck. It is a worthwhile trade off because nothing is like spinning and whirling (then nausea and vomitting). I'm more afraid of the spinning than the medicine. My dr. says there is no inner ear infection but it is still scary to know you are spinning for ???? reason. Overall this medication helps alot with the spinning and whirling.

I've been having on and off vertigo all of my life. It is not until the last couple of years that my dr. recommended Meclizine. It seems to work somewhat depends on the severity of vertigo. However, if your nausea/vommitting has kicked in, it's hard to keep this drug down obviously. It does make me sleepy and cause dry mouth. But dizzines does improve in a few hours. This med is also great in preventing motion sickness (ie; Cruising on rough sea). However, it's more effective when I took this drug couple of hours prior the trip. Check w your dr/pharmacist on how often you should take this for motion sickness prevention.Read More Read Less

i had an extreme case of vertigo (BPPV) in March 2007. i started taking this drug but stopped due to the drowsiness it created. i've since started the drug again for another bout with nausea and dizziness from the vertigo, but taking a much lesser dose in hopes of curbing the drowsiness it causes. so far, so good.

The medicine makes you drowsy. It was prescribed to me because of dizziness. I get dizzy during the day mostly. If I'm at work, I cannot take this medicine!
