I had a lot of problems with ortho tri-cyclin lo. The most troublesome being severe dizziness and constant nausea. These symptoms were so intense the first week of taking the pill, I thought I obtained a virus or disease. After three months of no birth control and not getting my period, my gynocoligest gave me a trial pack of brand name Loestrin. Loestrin was not only better than ortho tri-cyc...

I love this birth control! I've been taking it for about a year now and have had absolutely no issues, I gained about 3-5 pounds but besides that its great!

I've had no problems with this birth control. The only side effect I get is headaches, but I only get one like...once a month. Not bad.

I'm currently midway through my second cycle on Microgestin Fe. First cycle was fine - I got my period pretty early, but no other symptoms. Second cycle, I got my period early again and I've been pretty moody. Could just be PMS though. But it's done its biggest job - kept me from getting pregnant.

Ive been using this for almost a year. Havent gotten pregnant. I take it everyday on time. Only missed a pill one time. When you miss the pill you will bleed early and cramp for about 4 days. I can no longer stay lubricated but there are ways to fix that. I really like the pill.

I had the worst expirence with this birth control! I became extremely depressed to the point where I was living in my room for 2-3 months. I never wanted to leave my bed I was so sad, and emotionally unstable. Crying almost everyday for no reason at all. I didn't know what was wrong with me since I am not normally this type of person. I stopped taking the pills to see if that was the cause and within a week I was starting to feel like myself again. I am scared to try new pills because I do not want to go through that again. I have been on this pill over 2 years, it is the generic for Loestrin Fe. I have has a wonderful experience with this drug, my mood is stable, I never gained any weight, and my periods are light if they come at all. Sometimes I do experience abnormal bleeding/ cramping if I do not take my pill on time, but that's my fault. The only drawback is that it does not help my acne, although I have tried other pills that make my moods crazy and cramping severe, I have always come back to this pill. It works well for me, but everyone is different!Read More Read Less

I switched to this pill from Generess Fe solely due to the price. It is supposed to be the generic brand. With Generess Fe I had NO ISSUES after the first two months. Since I have been on Microgestin, I have bled every two weeks (been on it over 6 months), cried all the time, my acne is ridiculous and I have gained 10+ pounds. I am not sure what they put in the generic brand that's not in the name-brand but something isn't right. Seriously, talk to your doctor before trying any birth control. This is the worst one I have ever been on.Read More Read Less

I was prescribed this by my derm to help with severe acne. I can say that this drug has done 3 positive things for me, decreased my acne and kept me from getting pregnant. It has regulated my period(after about 3 months) to be on the same day of the week even down to the same hour and has severely decreased my PMS symptoms. Here are all the negative things it's done for me: completely removed my sex drive, at 24, I should not have 0 interest in sex. Has caused severe anxiety and depression that has only gotten worse over the years. I most definitely got the weight gain too. After being off of this for a couple of days, I felt happier. After a couple weeks, weight I had struggled to get rid of for years melted off of me. I only wish I had known this was the culprit years ago before wasting precious time and money on weight loss, anxiety medication, and therapists.Read More Read Less

There are a lot of negative reviews, so i thought i would share my experience, because i was freaked out before going on it after reading reviews. Just remember, everyone is different . Ive been on this birth control now for a little over 2 months. My experience has been overall pretty good-- mild nausea first 2 weeks, a few hours after taking it, (i would say at worst a 4/10) I would suggest taking it before bed thats definitely helped. and literally zero libido, so that really has sucked. other than that, no other side effects . I am 21 and have been on this pill for 3 years now. This past year I have noticed that my moods the week before I get my period are out of control. I'll cry for no reason, and get mad very easily, and that is not how I am at all. My boyfriend can't handle the mood swings and it has become a problem for us the week before my period. I don't feel like myself and I even get slightly depressed the week before my period also. I can't take the mood swings anymore so I am looking into switching. Other than that, no other side effects. I used to take Darvocet to alleviate the debilitating cramps, but it was taken off the market so I switched to this BCP. I'm 31 and gay so I had only been on bcp pills for a month at a time (various brands) when I was an egg donor for IVF. I usually take the active pills back-to-back and my periods have stopped completely, with no bleeding ever. Even when I take inactive pills = no bleed. This has been for 9mo-1 year, but for my purposes I'm quite happy with that. My sex-drive is non exsistant, but I have had no other symptoms. Weight = same, breast size maybe slightly larger, appetite unchanged, acne situation = slightly better (I've always been acne-prone), no more moodiness then before, no hair loss, no change in tiredness.Read More Read Less

I been on this pill for about 2 years . The one thing I noticed was my lack of getting a period. I would spot alittle but I contacted my GYM and he said it was alright that some people adjust differently. I haven't had a real period in quite a while lets say. But at first I felt hungry but now my body has been way adjusted that I don't feel any side affects too it. I would recommend this pill

Well, where to start, where to start. Ok, so I was on Sprintec birth control for about 3 years after having an ovarian cyst rupture. Sprintec controlled that problem, and it regulated my period, and, of course, it worked as a birth control (I assume, though I use condoms as well). Now, I didn't like the idea of being on my period for 6-7 days while most other females around me were having 4-5 day periods, so I asked around to see which birth controls were best for shortening/lightening periods. I came across Microgestin through a friend of mine. The first month I had started, it was like heaven for me. I had a day of light bleeding and that was it! The second month is when it started to get worse for me. On the 3rd week of active pills, I started spotting. I spotted until the week in which I was to have my actual period. I bled straight through for two weeks.I have always read that one needs to give a birth control at least 3 months to adjust to your body. I gave it 5. It just got worse and worse. Random bleeding throughout the month, unusually moody, and I always felt fatigued? I have finally decided that 6-7 days of a period is better than spotting and then a period. Only good thing I found about this pill was that my boobs seem to have grown a bit. I don't recommend this pill to anyone. I read a lot of bad reviews on it before I decided to take it, and I should've listened.Read More Read Less

I was told that I have cysts on my ovaries, and I had severe cramps during my period. I was 19 when I began taking this medication and it helped a bit with the cramps; they became less severe. My period would be light one week, then heavy the next, and sometimes I would get my period twice a month. I would finish my cycle, then two weeks later, I would get it again. I gained weight, even though I had no appetite. I also began having severe panic attacks. They came on so fast. They got so bad that I was seeing things and passing out. I had a panic attack so severe, I wound up in the emergency room for several hours, later resulting in a trip to the psychiatric center for 3 days. I stopped the birth control, and my panic attacks went away. All the problems with anxiety became less severe. I was completely healthy until I took birth control. I would not recommend this medication to anyone.Read More Read Less

Works great! I take constantly with no breaks to avoid horribly painful periods. I am 39. It cleared up my complexion too. Two little negatives: I have gas all day every day, and gained a sweet tooth.
