Since starting Nortrel, my periods are VERY light and last maybe 36 hours at most; usually I go through only 2-3 tampons. Not sure if that is a normal behavior while taking Nortrel, but is HAS worked as birth control (along with condoms) and I rarely have any painful cramps and never any spotting/moodiness, etc.

Yall... So I got on this pill at 19, stopped at 22. When I got off it, within 6 months my acne came flying in. I had a new pimple every morning, It was horrendous. I went on medications for acne and everything. I was just finally like whatever I will get back on the pill. Within three months back on the pill, skin is completely clear. I fully have the clearest skin ever. That being said, you have to be good at taking this every day (and around the same time of day). If I miss one pill, no matter what week im on, I will get my period. That is the only downside to this pill. I have not noticed any weight gain either. So, just be smart about it and the pill will work. No pregnancy scares here Read More Read Less

I would say, as a drug used to regulate period cycles, this is overly effective. The first few days of using this I began spotting, and by day 12 I was bleeding regularly. This shouldn't be happening. By the time I reached the first 'period' pill, I was still bleeding, and today is day 3 of the period pill. Worst. Day. Ever. My period is so heavy I need to change my heavy-flow tampon every 2 hours. I won't be taking this brand from now on; I've thrown out the rest of the pack. I do not reccommend this to anyone. Please ask for a different brand to your GYN. Read More Read Less

I am very happy with this pill. I was a little emotional the first few months, but I have been using it for about 7 months and I'm doing great. I have had no spotting, my periods are regular and light, however, they are not any shorter. My skin is clearer, I cramp less, as birth control it has worked perfectly. I like that if you miss a pill you are still covered and because it is a generic brand it was covered by my insurance. Overall, very happy.

I just started nortrel about two weeks ago the first 5 days I was on my period and I've been spotting since. 12 days of bleeding is not fun. I've had no mood swings, no bloating, no cramping. My period was much lighter. I have had a decrease in appetite and no weight gain. Great pill for BC
