This is the best pill ever taken; no side effects with the BRAND NAME. Pharmacy tends to auto-fill and/or push the generic version of this pill...huge mistake (Way too many terrible side effects when taking the generic version--cramps, bloating, rash, break-thru bleeding, heavier periods!) Insist on the BRAND NAME of ORTHO-NOVUM 7/7/7, well worth the few $ more than generic!!! PS: Worked...

This was probably the worst contraceptive I've ever tried. The reviews didn't prepare me or my boyfriend for my crazy mood swings and anxiety. My temper was through the roof and I only took it for 1 month. I like to think that these effects wouldn't last, but I didn't stick around long enough to find out. After this I insisted that they put me on Trinessa, since that one works great with me. The o...

Do not take this pill. It is DANGEROUS. I have cancer. Yes; Dr. said it's related to this.

I started taking this drug to reduce my 8 day periods. For whatever reason, my period lasted 25 days while taking this drug, until my doctor had to switch me to something else. I wonder how long my period would have lasted if my GYN did not switch me to another medication.

I was put on the medicine after being diagnosed with PCOS. It's been 24 years & I've had no problems. Went off 2x for fertility treatments & went back on it after the babies were born. My Dr said I'll be on it until menopause.

It worked to keep me from getting pregnant. It did cause me to feel a bit depressed. On the plus side, it caused me to lose a lot of weight.

I have absolutely LOVED this pill!!! Have been on it for almost two years now and it is the third birth control pill I have been in. By far my favorite. I am on the generic brand and have had absolutely no trouble whatsoever. My period only last three days, is not heavy, I don't have cramps and have had no weight gain since beginning use with this pill. Love it.

30yo. I used to take Yaz, but figured out it was making me a totally psychotic, irrational, crazy woman (aren't we all), and then I switch to this. No weight gain, appetite controlled, great skin, no mood swings,no crazy cramping after the first day, no migraines AND my periods are super short. They tried to give me the Nortrel Generic stuff, but I don't think so. I heard things...Hahaha! I am sticking with this form of OCP. I have been taking this OCP for about 2.5 years, and LOVE IT!!!!

Short, light periods, no crazy mood swings, no weight gain and barely any cramps—nothing that advil can't take care of for the first day. Only thing is a seemingly lower sex drive, but that seems to be a trend with most hormone containing birth control (google—there are a ton of studies!). Note: Make sure you get brand name though because enough though generics have the same active ingredients, they cause a lot of issues for most women I've talked to due to the production differences and/or sensitivity to the different inactive ingredients.Read More Read Less

I took this from the age 15 thru about age 22 for painful periods. Having tried other brands, I am going back to Ortho Novum. I never had any issues... my periods were short and painless, no side effects, no weight gain, no phantom pregnancy feeling.

I have rated this drug 4 stars because I have been using it for the past going on 6 years or so. (Since I was in 8th grade?-I am now a freshman college student) The pills seem to always work for me unless, of course I missed days in which normally would result in the start of my period. The normal for me came to be that I would have my period for two days (normally Wed/Thurs or Thurs/Fr) and I'd be done, and it wouldn't be too overly excessive and heavy. It seemed to me that I was more normal then because it regulated my periods from what it used to be...(lets say the worst was 3 months straight and VERY heavy...basically I had to miss school because I practically lived in the bathroom...) The only, I guess, side effects they would be called, would be really bad cramps and bloating and serious mood swings...(ha ha)(But I dont mind that compared to what I had been...) Anyway, I haven't had any problems, as in it has always seem to work for me...up until two weeks ago...For some reason they stopped working for me and I don't understand why... I haven't missed a SINGLE pill since I switched back to ortho novum (i was taking this drug then the generic brand of the basic same drug and now im back to ortho novum). Basically I have been bleeding through the active days! At first it was light so I didn't see a serious problem in the fact figuring it was just because I was switching pills and getting back on a regular track when all of a sudden today (11-10-10) my period has progressed and become VERY heavy...What is going on????????Read More Read Less

I try not to take medication of any kind but after my period just plain stopped over the past 5 months I decided to seek medical assistance and this drug was prescribed to me to help "jump start" them again. Now I have been using it for whopping three days and am hating every last minute of it. My once positive outlook is out the window, I don't want to do anything, and am horribly tired and irritable for the greater part of the day. Gas and stomach pain of which the likes I have never experienced have kept me sedentary for the last 72 hours. Its like a never ending PMS on steroids. I would rather be barren than have to continue this drug, but on the bright side I am told these side effects will end in 3 to 4 weeks (sarcasm)Read More Read Less

I have had the need to use contraception as a post treatment therapy for a cancer that was caused by a drug interaction. A drug administered to my mother during pregnancy, resulting in a cancer for me at puberty. Ortho-Novum 7-7-7 (28) was prescribed to me as soon as it reached the markets. I have never had any side effects I am very healthy. The generic equivalent does not maintain the same proprietary "active" ingredients and did cause side effects, most notably increased melanin production in the first 30 days of use.
