This medicine worked very well in preventing pregnancy, clearing up my skin, and easing horrible cramps. The only thing I didn't like was remembering to take it at the same time each day.

Ortho Tri-Cyclen is the second BC pill I tried and, after 5 months and feeling as though my body has adjusted to the hormonal change, I can say I'm truly happy with it. No spotting, light cramping (with my prior BC, the cramping lasted for days and was debilitating), and my period starts on the same day of the pack every month. No pregnancy scares. I will re-review this if things change, but so far I'm very happy.

I've been taking this birth control for almost 3 years now and have experienced nonnegative side effects. In the beginning I started taking a very low dose birth control and was bleeding continuously that is when my doctor switched me to tri-cyclen low but even that was not working for me so then she decided to give me the tri-cyclen 28 and I have been taking then ever since. I have not experienced any of the nausea, headaches or weight gain and it has really helped with cramps and even given me much lighter and shorter periods. My mood also has not been affected at all. 3rd pill I tried the ONLY issue I had with this was chronic insomnia. I've always had light random periods, mild acne, healthy weigh & lifestyle. I had NO weight gain or bloating, my skin was best it's ever been, no changes to my hair like I did on Lo Loestrin Fe, no night sweats & for 1st time in my life I had a period every month like clockwork. I also have epilepsy & lack of sleep is a trigger for my seizures so the insomnia was a deal breaker for me, other than that I LOVED this pill.

I am a 23 year old that recently started taking this pill. I wanted to wait about 6 months before I came on and wrote a review so I could really see how it worked with my body. I have tried other pills in the past and completely hated them. Most just made me very nauseous, cranky, and totally affected my overall mood. I have been on this pill for over 6 months now and I absolutely love it. I have seen very little/almost none side affects. At the beginning it affected my mood a but nothing too crazy. I have no gained weight, if anything, I've lost weight since I started taking the pill but I do not believe that the weight-loss is linked to the pill. It has cleared out my skin dramatically and most importantly, it's done the job of keeping from getting pregnant. I totally recommend this pill for anyone looking to get on birth control. I have been on this pill for about 3 years now. In the beginning I experienced extreme nausea, but then faded after a couple weeks. I experienced several negative side effects from this pill such as increased yeast problems and abdominal pains. I also had experienced depression from this pill. I was sent to see a psychologist as i had been assessed to have anxiety and depression. Knowing that this was out of character for me, I looked up the reviews of this pill and realized that this was another negative side effect. Although the pill does have some positive side effects such as lighter periods, bigger breasts, and it prevents pregnancy.Read More Read Less

I've been on this pill for a long time now, and I am so relieved to read these comments; I'm not alone. The week before my period is intense; I cry constantly, I become distant, a shut-in, extremely depressed. That is not my personality...my boyfriend can always tell when it's the week before my period. I'm definately talking to my doctor to switch.

I have been on this pill for 6 months now and it has been great until 2 months ago that im getting very strong headaches. the headaches are worst the day before my period until the last day of my period. I am also very emotional a week before my period. On the other hand, it has cleared up my face from pimples and it has Increased my sexual drive not decreased. I Really don't want to have to change it but this headaches are becoming a serious issue

I've only been on generic OTC for about a week, but I'm so bloated and honestly, this stuff is terrible. I took OTC-lo for 2 years a while back and had absolutely no bad side effects. I'm considering cutting my pills in half to see if this helps. Sore breasts, the awful excessive bloating are awful. It definitely helped my skin though, and it's only been a few days.

I've been taking this BC for 5+ years. When I first started taking it, it would make me feel very nauseated. I would take it before bed and when I was at the beginning of my pack, I would sometime throw up in the middle of the night. This was my only negative symptoms and my Dr. Suggested I eat a little snack with the pill, which helped. Now, I very rarely feel sick after taking my BC. That being said, I avoid taking it on an empty stomach and take it with juice or milk. It gives me very light periods which only last 3-4 days. I get emotional/feelings of neglect a week before my period, but I've learnt how to deal with it and recognize it as PMS symptoms - I avoid being around friends or family those couple days. Over the past year though, I've noticed a decrease in sex drive. Maybe it's because I'm not in a stable relationship anymore, or maybe it's the BC? I'm not sure, but after reading other comments, I'll defiantly go see my GP about it. I'm scared to try a different birth control, I feel my body responds well to this on and I don't want to start changing things. Read More Read Less

I started taking a generic brand of Ortho Tri Cyclen because I was experiencing acne, increased facial hair, and very irregular periods. My skin cleared up within a few months and looks just as good now as it did in high school. After seven years of irregular periods, it was so much more convenient to get it at the same time every month. The side effects that I did not enjoy were an increased appetite and complete lack of self control the week of and before my period. I also constantly felt bloated and my breasts (already a 36D) became even larger. I am switching to Microgestin after talking to my OB in the hopes that I will experience less bloating and water retention.Read More Read Less

After 11 days of taking this, I am crying for no reason and feel complete hopelessness. This has also made me vomited and has given multiple panic attacks in only these 11 days. I'm shocked that this is still approved when so many women report similar experiences. Let me guess, this was created by a man???

I have been on Tri-cyclen for close to a year now. I switched from Yasmin to tri-cyclen sine I was experiencing extreme outbursts of anger for no reason as well as acne. My experience has been generally good - it has not helped with my acne, but I no longer experience the outbursts. However, I am completely unable to skip my period and within the last three months I have experienced random periods with a heavy flow even with religiously taking the pill every day. I am considering switching to a different brand.Read More Read Less

I loved this bc! I used it for 7 almost 8 years and never had any problems. I did gained weight but I think is more of a combination of life style choices and the pill than the pill itself. I dont even consider I gained that much, it has never been my issue. I used to have horrible acne before taking it and it cleared my skin, which made me really happy. I stopped taking it for a few months to give it a break and started breaking out a lot and it was painful acne, that left horrible scars. I also noticed shorter and lighter periods. I never suffered from cramps, and the pill didn't cause me to have any. On the other hand, I would get extremely emotional a week before my period, and I get very needy, but I attributed that to my period coming (isn't that the norm?) All in all, extremely satisfied.Read More Read Less

So far I have to say that this medicine has not only helped my acne but I haven't even been using it a full month and I can see a difference in my weight. I wondered if it could be something else but I haven't changed my diet nor started working out. The reason I started taking it in the first place was for my painful periods and acne. I haven't had my period yet but I'm loving everything else about this birth control.

This was my first time with birthcontrol, so my doctor figured this was my best option. For the second month, i had spotting all month, and knew somebody with the same experience. But after that month, everything has been perfect. Me and my boyfriend have been only using the pill, no condoms and we have had no pregnancy scared. period always comes on the fourth day after the last pill. Also pills are easy to take, and best way to remember to take them, SET AN ALARM ON YOUR PHONE! it isn`t the pills fault if you get pregnant from a late or missed pill... Breast size went up 1, and i have gained about 20 pounds since i started taking it, but i had hardly been eating before starting this pill, and i has helped my appetite. I do get moody, usually wanting to cry or feeling neglected, but only when i am close to my last pill so i just consider it pms... Highly recommend it for preventing pregnancy, me and my boyfriend were a little like Rabbits during the first couple months of living together, and never used other protection. never had issues!Read More Read Less

I was put on this pill for 3 reasons: abnormally heavy and painful periods, acne, and birth control. I originally started with a monocycle pill, and had my period for the first three months straight before I switched. I LOVE my ortho tri-cyclen and won't change methods until I'm done having children. My acne has cleared up, my periods are 3 days long and very light, my mood swings have lessened, I have not gained weight, and I have NO cramps. This is a miracle birth control pill for me! I have been on it for almost 6 years now and I suggest that everyone gives it a shot!Read More Read Less

I was on this for six months and loved it, but had to switch to Desogen, which I hated. I tried to switch back to it a few days ago, but my blood pressure was a little high and they gave me Ortho Micronor that is only 92-99% effective and I will not be taking it. It cleared up my skin and I didn't get pregnant.

My doctor prescribed this for birth control, and while that part worked, I had other issues with the pill. I only took it for 6 months, but during that time my periods were coming every two weeks, and lasting for two weeks, and were also very painful. Also, it really reduced my sex drive and made me very moody. Since coming off it, everything has been back to normal.
