Simply put: Latuda is the most positive game changer of 20-25 med combinations my doctor and I have tried. He stopped my mirtazipine(Remeron)and replaced it with Latuda. Wow. What a difference for all the right reasons. Latuda is the very best drug I have been on during the five years I have been treated for "basic" depression, horrid nightmares, lack of focus (ADHD), chronic pain from two failed ...

I take 40mg and my mood has been so much better; I feel like my head has been cleared of clouds. I do have trembling and this has increased some. I do find it hard to sit still at times so I find ways to engage my brain. It's only been a month but I am very satisfied with this drug. It's a blessing for me after all the other mood stabilizers I have tried and no weight gain.

I've been on Latuda almost 11 years. It is a wonderful mood stabilizer. Latuda gave me my life back. I also take Lamictal and Seroquel. They are my mix of drugs that have worked for me.

I was put on latuda after the birth of my son for postpartum moods, it was amazing until i started noticing that w lots of visual stimulation ( only when driving) my eyes would drift from the road up to the top of the trees or power lines... it was so subtle at first this lasted for months. I had no idea it was from the drug until one day i was driving w my 4 month old and my eyes drifted up and stayed rolled all the way back and i couldnt bring them down. I was terrified. I luckily was really close to my home so i had to bring my chin all the way down to my chest. Barely able to see, parked my car very badly. Got my son and stumbled inside. I was basicaly blind trying to fumble for a bottle a spoon and formula, my baby was cryingg hysterically, i never in my life wanted nothing but to look into my sons eyes and comfort him. My eyes stayed stuck until luckily my dad found me at home, i couldnt answer my phone, he came to check on us, then he took me to the er. I was crying and so embarressed i still didnt know it was from the drug. The dr asked me what was wrong and i told him, he wanted me to uncover my face w my hands , i wouldn't because i thought he was going to think i was insane lol. I finally did , he put me on a very high dose of allergy meds and cogentin. Man i could of died my son could have died from a car reck... i was really lucky. Beware of your eyes drifting up. Dont think its your weird little adhd things u do. That is a legit rare side effect.Read More Read Less

This drug(I take 40mg)... just doesn’t do anything. Luckily no bad side effects but otherwise there’s just nothing to review, as it has no purpose.

When I was properly diagnosed my doctor put me on Latuda and Lamictal as well as Wellbutron. I was in distress and we gradually worked up to 120mg of Latuda, also increasing the Lamictal. It got me out of my distress and I havent had an episode in 1.5 yrs with minimal side effects, which is great, but it also robbed me of things I was interested in, my sense of humor and my sense of wonderment and excitement. My kids said I seemed distant and uninterested. I won't ever use this again because of that. We reduced dosage but I finally had to get off of it because of insurance, and now I am getting all of those things about myself back. No one wants to be just flat with no real personality. I am glad it works for others, but it's not for me.Read More Read Less

It just WORKS for me. I haven't gone into 'the willing pit of despair' since taking the drug and that accomplishment alone makes this drug more valuable than any other I have taken.

Ended up waking up in the middle of the night with heart palpitation/irregular heartbeat. They said everything was ok and sent me home... meanwhile i feel like a heart attack could come at any minute. Don’t take this trash.. been three days and im sttuck in bed because I feel like a heart attack could come at any minute. Simce the manufacterer says heart palpitations arent a side effect he suggested I continue to take these death pills. Needless to say hes not my dr anymore...

It has pulled me out of my depression but I am having so many other side effects I'm not sure if it's worth being on it. Here's but a few side effects I am experiencing. Runny nose but not like I have a cold my nose will run and I don't even know it's going to happen it just runs right out my nose. It's embarrassing when I'm talking to someone and this happens. Teeth clenching this goes on 24/7 and is causing me to have a tight jaw and giving me headaches. Constantly picking at my head out of nervousness, I now have open sores on my head. Exhaustion, Acne,(I'm a 65 year old women with acne) YES! Nausea, Dizziness, Loss of Appetite, Anger, Spending Tons of money maybe I'm Hypo-Manic, I'm not sure. Diarrhea, Stomach Pains, Coughing for no reason, Loss of Balance, Restlessness, Trouble urinating, Memory loss, Blurred vision, Confusion, Headache, that's all I can think of right now I'm sure there's more. Anyway after I wrote all of this down I've come to the conclusion that this drug has to go. And I'm only at 20mg. I'd hate to see what would happen on a higher dose.Read More Read Less

I have schizoaffective disorder, bipolar type, and have been on Latuda 120 mg for five years. I finally decided to write a review for it after cutting down the dosage, or trying to, and seeing the difference. I went back up to my normal dose after trying to cut down. The pros of Latuda are very solid -- I lost 40, 45 pounds that I put on taking antipsychotics such as Abilify. I lost that over a long period of time, it was not instantaneous. I lost about 2 pounds a month consistently. My thoughts have been organized to such an extent that during this period, I even purchased my first home with my husband. I was able to get used to home ownership with all its challenges, so that's impressive. Over time, I learned the cons. It does cause anxiety for me anyway, and it took a long time to learn that was coming from the Latuda. Luckily I finally was prescribed Vistaril for the occasional panic attack and that works fine is not habit-forming like Ativan. I do feel at that dose I am less creative, which I miss, but the cost of decompensation is too high if I lower the dose. It has been a very helpful drug for me. The price is outrageous though, and I understand it is coming out as a generic in 2023.Read More Read Less

I take latuda for schizoaffective disorder. I started on 40 felt great. But then had an episode. Was put up to 80. Had severe anxiety, sleeplessness and nightmares for a month. The nightmares ended at one month but the anxiety remained and i have to take medication to control that and help me sleep. I now take seroquel, melatonin and mianserin for the side effects. They are all in low doses but I have to take them. Now I feel good and itâ??s working for me. I have lost 23 kgs since being on zyprexa in 12 months. So that has been really good. Latuda has really good qualities but I have found managing the side effects difficult. If you donâ??t take good with the tablet you may also get very nauseous. Overall it has cleared my head.Read More Read Less

I began Latuda after my Dad died, and I was suicidal. It helped get rid of my suicidal thoughts and helped me feel motivated to finish my last semester of college. I noticed it made me gain about 20 pounds over the course of 4 months, and sweat profusely at the gym. I was tired all the time, and would take 1-2 naps a day, for about 3 hours at a time. I would still be tired. My appetite increased and I had to be put on Topiramate.

I have been on countless medications and none have given me the feeling like I could really live. Yes side effects but they are controlled. I take half of an imodium with it and eat with it. So no longer have issues. I actually have real feelings and don't feel like I have had a lobotomy. The cost to me with my insurance was 15.00 after i used the company coupon. No tardive dyskinesia side effects. I weaned off zoloft and am left with wellbutrin and latuda. No weight changes noted this far. No sexual issues noted either but I would give all that up to feel this good. No feelings of dread and heaviness left. I have energy again. I have chronic insomnia for almost 30 years and no changes in sleep noted either. The only drag is having to it with it so I just take it after evening meal before bed as it makes me slightly drowsy but that's a good thing for me. Read More Read Less

Pdoc and I agreed to add Latuda to my regime of Wellbutrin and Topamx after a few months of increasing paranoia and depression that I couldnâ??t lift despite changes to my diet and increased exercise. At 20mg, side effects have been minimal. Initially, the nausea was bad but taking it at night with the requisite 350 calories works and it seemed to pass after week 3. Six weeks in, I am up 8 *very unwanted* pounds but the weight, if it stabilizes, is a small price to pay for mental clarity and marked improvements to my bi-polar depression.Read More Read Less

Caused a pleathera of atrocious side affects the worst of them being profuse cold sweats, inability to hold Bowles and urination frequency increased dramatically but volume of urine was scarce... vertigo at times inability to tolerate heat or cold, EXTREME PARANOID FEELINGS bad enough to report an aquatinted person to homeland security as conducting terroristic activities... then There were awful tremors confused and disoriented feeling accompanied by memory loss and the severity of that promted me to report to local detectives that I was being drugged by one of my in laws... and short term memory I kept only lasted approximately 2 weeks then erased forever. But BY FAR the WORST symptom was an overwhelming inability to communicate with others even intimate partner. Thought I was brain damaged after this went ok for months which nearly drove me to suicide and I have never in my life had those thoughts even remotely cross my mind. It was like being a prisoner inside my own body, or some kind of muted person. I was hurting emotionally I would cry in the car sometimes so badly it would induce hyperventilation so bad I had to pull over on I-95 and I every day thinking about driving as fast as I could into the cement barrier. Thankfully upon stopping my voice returned and I expressed all of my awful sensations to everyone who would listen just in cas I went mute again. So it could be considered as to have induced PTSD. Stay away if possible, I was put on latuda for anxiety and this medication is life altering so in my opinion unless severe dangerous schizophrenia or psychosis are present the. No dr should EVER prescribe it. I’m pleading with you to please avoid latuda use, the instability is DANGEROUS!Read More Read Less

Latuda has been the only medication that has made a difference in my depression with psychotic episodes. I genuinely feel like I have my life back. Before this medicine I thought my life wasn’t worth living because I’d never function in the real world. I feel so lucky to have been prescribed this medication. I dislike that I have to take it with food because sometimes I’m not that hungry, but it’s 100% worth that part.
