Have taken everything from Wellbutrin to Depakote to Tegretol and many others, nothing worked. Kind of leary when Dr. prescribed this sublingual, but the difference is amazing! I HATE the taste and when it dissolves it fills my mouth with saliva as well as numbs my tongue. I also hate having to wait ten minutes after to eat or drink. It's the worst part of my day. However, prior to starting this...

This medication was supposed to help with my bipolar mania and the hallucinations I was having and all it did was cause homicidal ideations to the point I wanted to hurt or kill my children. I don't recommend this medication to anyone.

Just want to warn all Saphris users that the medication should be taken at bed time, and not in the morning , because it will make you tired. I am happy with Saphris and I don`t have any side effects , like weight gain etc. Recommend it for your mood swings.

Almost killed me. 3 days of muscle soreness and then I had a seizure and ended up in ICU. Thanks Saphris.

My psychiatrist gave this to me for my depression. I did not stay on it very long because it gave me an incredibly uncomfortable, disconcerting feeling. I took it shortly before bed, and it would give me this odd jolt of energy, fidgetiness, and anxiety. I felt like I had to rush to bed. I would end up sleeping okay, but that was a very bad feeling. More importantly, it did not make me feel less depressed or anxious, and I felt tired even after sleeping okay, so I stopped taking it in just a few weeks. Keep in mind, though, that fifteen antidepressants have failed me, so I have a very stubborn case of it.Read More Read Less

I take Saphris for sleep. Even Ambien doesn't work for me. I have been on Saphris for 6 weeks. I have gained 10 pounds. Am hungry all the time. I sleep every day now, but for 15 hours a day. It takes effect with in minutes of taking it. I'm usually asleep 5 minutes after taking it.

I take the sublingual tablet and it is hard to let it absorb into my mouth tissue so I never know how much I am really getting. However, when I don't get enough I start having suicidal thoughts again and when I get too much I get horrible headaches/racing thoughts in the evening from 10:30 to 12:30 making me very tired the next morning. When I am having an episode I cannot find a comfortable position and have to keep moving from one position to another hoping to find a way to stop the racing thoughts. I am caught between a rock and a hard spot because if I don't take enough saphris I start having suicidal thoughts but if I take more I have these episodes almost every other night. What can I do? This drug has given me some bad side effects, I'm gassy, bloated and I have Type 1 Diabetes and Saphris seems to be raising my blood sugars, I've been on in for almost a month and my blood sugars can't get below 300, and I have to take very large doses of insulin as well, not to mention it's making me eat and eat. I was on Risperdal before and that made me gain 25 lbs but I have to say this medication has increased my appetite even more. It also numbs my mouth and tongue and messes with my taste buds. I've been kind of Hypo-manic since I've been taking it so my mood hasn't crashed yet, but I am going to stop taking it, a lot of the reviews on here say Saphris is great at stabilizing mood. I really wish I could stay on it to see that but I have to take care of my diabetes and blood sugars so need to find another anti-psychotic, have tried quite a few so far and haven't found a good match yet. Risperdal did work but it made me fat.Read More Read Less

EXTREMELY bad side effect of not being able to sleep for almost a month after I stopped taking! At most I got one hours sleep a night and not even ambien could get me to sleep longer for more than 3 weeks after i stopped it. i'll stick with my bi polar, these meds have worse side effects (for me) than the disease they are supposed to treat!.

This is my second night taking this. I like it so far. It helps me go to sleep faster. I just don't like the taste that stays in my mouth. I am starting to feel a lot better

I did really well on Saphris. I felt good. I was sleeping and had a lot of energy that wasn't mania. I took it in the morning because I couldn't sleep after taking it; it made me feel nervous at first. My symptoms gradually got worse until about 3 weeks after beginning Saphris I noticed that I would get restless and have trouble sitting still about 2 hours after taking the drug. Then after 5 weeks I noticed a "fluttering" feeling in my chest and sometimes my heart would pound and race so hard that it felt like it would jump right out of my chest. This is a side effect that I've experienced with some other mood stabilizers (anti-pyschotics). Read More Read Less

Worst experience of my entire life, and I have attempted suicide. Within the first few days I reached a scary level of happiness. I began to have racing thoughts, talking fast and being completely irrational. Soon after I began hallucinating that I knew every stranger in a different from school or work all day. I had the cops called on me for having a breakdown over thinking my dead grandmother was still alive to a woman and the ambulance took me to the ER. There I exclaimed to the entire ER to listen to me because I was Obama (I'm a white girl), had a seizure, risked falling into a coma, and stayed in the psych ward for 2 days when recovered. All because I took Saphris that was prescribed to me. It was terrifying and life altering.Read More Read Less
