Have taken everything from Wellbutrin to Depakote to Tegretol and many others, nothing worked. Kind of leary when Dr. prescribed this sublingual, but the difference is amazing! I HATE the taste and when it dissolves it fills my mouth with saliva as well as numbs my tongue. I also hate having to wait ten minutes after to eat or drink. It's the worst part of my day. However, prior to starting this...

This medication was supposed to help with my bipolar mania and the hallucinations I was having and all it did was cause homicidal ideations to the point I wanted to hurt or kill my children. I don't recommend this medication to anyone.

I shouldnt really be reviewing this drug yet, since I just got put on it today-switching from risperidone taken for BPD. The reviews that I have read sound very scary!! Anyone out there that can help? Give me a few more ideas about how well this med really works or doesn't work at all?? Please help!

I take 10 mgs morning and night for obsessive compulsive disorder. Horrible taste, slight weight gain, but overall a miracle drug for me.

be very, very careful when taking this drug! During routine bloodwork my liver enzymes were three times the normal level while on Saphris. The taste is awful and I lost all taste sensation while on this drug. Do not take this unless it is a last resort!!!

I’m going on three weeks now 10mg morning and night. I switched over from Seroquel XR once a day. To beat the bad taste use Listerine breath strip or mouth spray when you take it. This is a Doctor approved method. Brushing the tongue 10 min. after taking the tablet helps with the numbness of the tongue. It gets the residual medication out of your mouth as well. I still get tired about 1 hour after I take it in the morning or night. This is the same side effect I had taking Seroquel. However Seroquel knocked me out for 10 hours at night and did not affect me during work hours. Saphris only seems to make me really tired for about one hour. However I seem to have difficulty keeping my mind awake from about 9:00AM to noon. I take my pills at regular intervals: 8-9:00PM at night and 6-7:00AM in the morning.Read More Read Less

I have been on this for about 3 weeks now and feel better than I have in 8 months. It took me a little while to get used to taste and the numbness it left in my mouth but after that it is not so bad. With the goodness I get from it dealing with the bad taste is a small thing to deal with.

I have only taken it for two nights, and, am sick with acute bronchitis and pleurisy. I was on seroquel 25 mg's twice daily and 300 mg's of Seroquel XR befre bedtime but now am taking this 1st night 5 mg's, 2nd night took 2 5mg's of it and feel really bad. I am anxious/depressed. I do not like this med. and do not have schizophrenia. I am not psychotic or bi-polar. Beware of this medicine unless you are aware of these possible problems. I am 49 and seeing a psychiatrist for anxiety/depression only.I am hurting so bad now. Read More Read Less

I was having severe depression & feeling pretty hopeless. I took first dose at night and next day felt better than I had in 6 months, it does taste pretty bad,let dissolve and try to produce little saliva(if it is possible) and try not to swallow the medicine. maybe a patch would be a good idea?

First, as others have stated...THE TASTE IS AWFUL. Are we being punished? Second, my entire mouth is numb for well over an hour - what's up with that? Third, for it's use as a mood stabilizer (in my case) it makes me agitated/anxious, so I need Klonazipam to level me. Also, right after I take it, I feel very spaced-out and my verbal skills are in the toilet. Dr. had me switch from p.m. to a.m. dose as it was affecting my sleep. I am also taking it every other day; EVERY DAY is way too much. Very strange drug. While my energy is up and my thoughts are clearer, we will see where the build-up goes with the 40 days' samples.Read More Read Less

Very sedating for about 5 hours (5 mg dose) or 10 hours (10 mg dose). Helps me sleep, but can't function until the dose wears off. Have taken it for two weeks and am not noticing much improvement in mania/mixed state. Side effects: (1.) after taking, tounge and throat are numb for up to an hour so I don't eat or drink because of possibility of choking, (2.) tastes terrible but the bad taste only lasts for a minute or two, (3.) Feet and ankles are swelling. My guess is this drug is probably more effective for schizophrenia than it is for bipolar. Read More Read Less

The taste is very nasty. I am not convinced that it is working for me because I feel worse but I will give it another day or so. It does taste very bad and then makes your tongue numb. Not good

I just started this drug as well and when I read the review that it tasted like ass, I laughed but that was a true understatement. It burns your mouth and made me want to vomit. It better turn out to be a miracle drug for all that.
