Gavilyte-C Oral comes with a separate envelope of lemon flavoring. This improved the taste 100%. Drinking 8 0z every 10 mintues between 7 pm to 10 pm until 3 liters, of 4 liters, was gone went very smooth and got the clean-out going in about 40 minutes. I was pleasantly surprised how easily it went down and realized I had had anxiety all the month before for nothing. The 4th liter was directed t...

Unlike other patients, I didn't mind the taste of Gavilyte-C (with the lemon packet) at all. It reminded me of nonfat milk which was my preference for 40 years before I switched to light vanilla soymilk. The problem I had with the product was that five hours after starting administration I had a large but constipated bowel movement and then nothing else for another three hours. It wasn't until eig...

used as directed. this was my fourth time. dr. advised I could use coconut water and it improved the citrus flavor considerably. never a particularly pleasant experience, but certainly not that bad.

This was an extremely difficult drug to take. It smelled like plastic and when I read the label ingredients, it 60% polyethlene. I am worried about the long-term efficacy of this drug as I know polyethelene causes cancer, but I could not find anything regarding cancer and taking this medication on the internet...I could not take this drug in the time frame recommended. I was to drink 1/2 of the gallon in 2 hours, however, due to having difficulty keeping the product down, it took 7 hours to complete the entire gallon, which of course I was up the rest of the night with elimination. I will not take this again if I have to have another cololoscopy.Read More Read Less

Awful experience to put it lightly. I have a grinding headache after consuming a little over half of the required gallon. The taste and consistency of GaviLyte are horrible and my mouth quivered every time I tried to swallow a mouthful as i tried not to vomit. Good luck to you and I hope you have a better and easier experience than I.

My colonoscopy was in the afternoon. One week before I started a low-fiber diet...highly recommended! The day before the exam, I was on a clear liquid diet. At noon, I took 4 Dulcolax tablets. At 4:00 pm, I began drinking approx. one 8 oz glass of the Gavilyte-C (w/ lemon flavoring added) every 15 minutes, finishing half of the 4 liters. The remaining 2 liters were consumed the morning of the exam. At no time did I feel nauseated. Ordinarily I only drink water, tea or coffee, so I was a little anxious as to how this stuff would go down. To me it tasted a bit like a thin, syrupy lemon sports drink. Also, I never felt like I had to rush to the toilet or that I had the 'runs'. I only woke up once in the middle of the night. Strangest of all, I was never hungry. My advice is to follow the hospital instructions to a 'T'. If you think you are going to have a problem drinking 4 liters in one shot, then seriously consider an afternoon colonoscopy so that you can break up the preparation. Read More Read Less

This solution is fine for 1 or 2 glasses, then gets very hard to drink due to the horrible taste. I had to quit after 4 8oz glasses, wasn't going to finish, then began again after 3 hr break. Dr instructions do not allow this but I'm doing the best I can to cleanse the bowel, he will have to do the best he can with the scope. Will add enema on my own.

I wasn't scared prior to taking it and I followed the instructions to a T. Of course, I was up all night, and started devolping a migrane approx 4 hrs before my procedure. The Migrane got worse, and before I knew it, I started vomiting uncontrolably. Then I really thought I was going to have to call 911. Luckily my husband woke up and rushed me to the ER. I was severly dehydrated. It was one of the worst experiences of my life. It is now the day after, and I still have a migrane after drinking lots of water and having the Ringer (I.V.) solution in the ER. My procedure was still completed, and that was the easiest part of it all. Not only do I still have a migrane, my ribs are very sore from vomiting, and my body feels like I was the quarterback in an NFL game played yesterday. I don't see anything on the lable about possible dehydration, nor does your pharmacist or Dr. state that. I did drink plenty of water while doing the prep, but of course anything that went in, came right out. Be careful!!!Read More Read Less

2 hours after drinking the solution I experienced a swollen gland below the right jawline. Went ahead the following morning with colonoscopy. By 2 am the following morning, I was in severe pain and the right side of my face was very swollen. I wound up in the hospital for 3 days with a salivary gland infection. Needless to say, I will never drink GaviLyte C again.

I was pleasantly surprised how easily it went down and realized I had had anxiety all the month before for nothing. The 4th liter was directed to be taken the next day starting 4 hours before the colonoscopy and to be completed drinking in an hour or less. This was followed by complete fast (due to sedation) including no water until after post-exam eval. Prep instructions started with little or no fiber diet (no fruit/veggies/high fiber foods) two days before exam; this was followed by 2 Dulcolax tablets at 7 pm with 8 oz of water. The day before exam only clear liquids are allowed - NOTHING SOLID nor dairy nor having pulp, AND nothing red or purple. I had dreaded drinking that solution for weeks but my mom and dad both had rectal cancer so I knew I had to have a colonoscopy. Thank you GAVIS Pharma for the Lemon flavor pack! 10/25/11 Test result AOK.Read More Read Less

I've used other liquid treatments to clear my bowel and none were as awful as this. The salty taste made me nauseous and I had to drink so much I began to throw up because my body could not handle all the liquid. I don't believe it every fully cleared my bowel. It took all day to drink and my stool was still yellow.
