Gavilyte-C Oral comes with a separate envelope of lemon flavoring. This improved the taste 100%. Drinking 8 0z every 10 mintues between 7 pm to 10 pm until 3 liters, of 4 liters, was gone went very smooth and got the clean-out going in about 40 minutes. I was pleasantly surprised how easily it went down and realized I had had anxiety all the month before for nothing. The 4th liter was directed t...

Unlike other patients, I didn't mind the taste of Gavilyte-C (with the lemon packet) at all. It reminded me of nonfat milk which was my preference for 40 years before I switched to light vanilla soymilk. The problem I had with the product was that five hours after starting administration I had a large but constipated bowel movement and then nothing else for another three hours. It wasn't until eig...

Easy to use; mixed with the lemon flavor provided by pharmacy - taste was like extremely flat and thick lemon lime soda; only side effect was extreme chills and shivering - lowered body temp

3rd colonoscopy, treatment to complete by far. I have Crohn's Disease so I didn't have any problem going to the bathroom. I used a straw to drink and would run a sucker along my tongue between each sip. It made me very nauseous and I threw up twice and ended up getting only 3/4 of the treatment down. It works, but so does a lot of other options. The only upside to this was the price.

The problem I had with the product was that five hours after starting administration I had a large but constipated bowel movement and then nothing else for another three hours. It wasn't until eight hours after taking the Gavilyte-C that I finally had a watery stool. And I only did once again before it was time for me to take the remaining portion. I'm confident my stool won't run clear in time and I'll be forced to reschedule yet another procedure. There should be instructions for people who don't respond readily to the treatment. It disappointed me to not find any.Read More Read Less

The taste is not so bad. It came with lemon flavoring and its palatable. Expect to set aside several hours for drinking and using the bathroom. Unfortunately, drinking this is making me extremely cold and I have chills.

I drank 2 liters of this last night and did not have any bowel movements until this mourning. I just finished the mourning 2 liters and I don't feel cleaned out at all. The taste really was bad.

Drank the liquid as instructed. Tried not to think too much about it. Just drank each 8 oz serving as quickly as possible. The problem I had was after the colonoscopy. I went into A Fib and had to be kept in the hospital overnight. I never had A Fib before. I am sure this was caused from drinking this product. If you read the papers that come with the product, this can be a side-effect. I am 65 years old and this is my third colonoscopy. The one at 50 and 60 went fine. After this experience, I doubt I will have another colonoscopy unless they can change the process for cleaning the bowel. One recommendation to anyone taking this product is to make sure you drink plenty of liquid during the day before the procedure before having to start the clean out. Part of my problem was dehydration and my triglycerides were off. Read More Read Less

I have had 3 previous colon scopes and each time used this product. It works and rather quickly. I don't care for the taste but I am not drinking it for taste after all. I will clean you out which is the original purpose for taking it.

This is my 4th colonoscopy and drinking this stuff gets worse the older I get. There MUST be a better way. Nauseous, headachy and half a bottle to go. Oh, I think the yellow stuff coming out at the end is bile.

Works very effectively. Very hard to get down, wanted to puke every sip I took, also made me shivering cold. Awful and soo much of it.

I had my first colonoscopy scheduled last Thursday. It had to be rescheduled because the product just didn't work. I guess my chronic constipation just wasn't easily relieved by taking this stuff, and I also wasn't able to finish all of it. I'm scheduled again this Thursday, but I'm having a very difficult time keeping the fluid down. I find it extremely nauseating, even with flavoring with Crystal Light. The chalky aftertaste is horrible, and being expected to drink a GALLON of this stuff in several hours is just too much. I may just have to skip the colonoscopy and hope for the best. Having to drink only clear fluids and this awful tasting liquid for two days is almost unbearable, especially since I also have to work. I wouldn't give this stuff to my worst enemy.Read More Read Less

Started prep about noon and only have 3/4 down came down with a full on migraine. Can't finish the rest have to be at procedure at 7:30 am and it's an hour drive hopefully it's good enough . Taste isn't to bad but it's texture and amount is horrible. Medicine should be able to come up with something better.

This is not suppose to be pleasant. This is prep for a medical procedure. IMO it is a wonderful alternative to exploratory surgery. This certainly appeals to me more than being cut open just to look around. My first prep RX was not acceptable. I told my pharmacist I refused to pay $113 for prep RX. My pharmacist knows me so he knew I was serious. He searched online and found this $14 option. Yes, the other option involved less liquid but it seems insane my Dr expected me to pay $99 more to avoid a bit of liquid intake. I should have been offered the options rather than having to call.the Dr's office trying to switch the RX. I will be changing Doctors once I have my test results. For the guy that stated he would 'rather be shot in a nonessential body part rather than consume this product again' - yes, there are alternatives. Drop a "C note" and you are good-to-go. Me, it is part of one day in my life. I can handle it. I never expected to enjoy it, I only want to survive it. The differences make the world interesting.Read More Read Less

I took this product starting at 6pm as instructed, the day before the colonoscopy. I found the experience not so bad, the only problem really is consuming so much liquid. I was able to tolerate the taste because I refrigerated it and added Crystal Light lemon flavoring; and I used a straw. I sipped on ginger ale and apple juice to get it all down. It began to work within an hour. By 12:30am I was done. Overall not so bad, although I felt cold the entire time. You just have to focus and be diligent about consistently drinking so much liquid. Maybe it's not fair to rate it so low on effectiveness or satisfaction just yet but I haven't had any results after consuming 5 of the approximately 8 8-oz doses that constitute the first half of the regimen (the other half to be completed in the morning before my scheduled colonoscopy at 9:00 a.m.). My gut is not happy with the large volume of liquid. I set a timer between doses to stay on track.

I used this product last night as prep for a colonoscopy scheduled for 8:00 am this morning. As instructed, I ate lightly two days before and had only clear liquids the day before the procedure. I was instructed to drink 2 liters beginning at 6 pm and 2 liters beginning at 2 am with nothing by mouth after 4 am. I mixed and refrigerated the product the day before beginning the prep and added the lemon flavor packet. After reading the reviews, I was very apprehensive about the taste of the product but I didn't think it was terrible. I added a little more Crystal Light lemon flavoring to each glass as I took it. It was like a slightly salty, slightly thickened weak lemonade. The problem I had was not so much with the taste but with the huge volume of product I needed to drink. I was not able to drink it as quickly as suggested and actually took three hours to drink the first half. It began to work after about an hour and then it worked very well. I began the second half of the prep about 1:30 am but only finished about 3/4 of the bottle. I had been told that when what comes out looks just like what went in, it is good enough so I quit drinking it at that point which was good because I was to the point of not being able to drink anymore anyway. It must have been ok because the doctor commented that my prep was "excellent" after he did the colonoscopy. Overall the product did what it needed to do and I do think watching diet a couple of days before really helps. That said, it is a pretty miserable thing to have to go through so I hope it is a LONG time before I have to do it again or better yet, that someone comes up with an easier product to use.Read More Read Less

So far been taking it 2 hours, mixed it with Crystal Lite lemonade (as directed by Dr,) and it tastes just like lemonade. Got a lot to go but so far so good. Just mixed a little of the packet in each glass, but I did try it without it and it still wasn't bad but the lemonade is better.

Look, this is the second time I have had to use this product. There HAS to be an easier way to clear your colon. This tastes like gasoline, and I am two hours in and I hate this experience. No one would consiously subject themselves to this if the alternative wasn't so darn serious. I feel for you if you are where I am now. "I want you to drink 16 glasses of plastic in 4 hours." Stay with it. I gotta go... 8-)

I am using it for a colonscopy prep. Put a glass in the freezer and let ice start to form and it goes down very easy and doesn't taste bad(I had Lemon) When it starts to work it works and does the job.

I was surprised that it took at least two hours for the medicine to "kick in." By FAR the worst part of this medication was both the taste and the knowledge I am drinking mostly a chemical used to preserve ships and as an industrial lubricant. It tastes like someone took sea water, linoleum chips, and lemon floor cleaner and blended them all together. I kept closing my eyes and telling myself I had just finished a run in 100 degree heat and it was gatorade and just don't try to taste it much, but the aftertaste of toxic plastic still made me gag. So, so disgusting. It does what it's supposed to do, and I actually ended up eating up through 3:00 the day before because nobody told me not to and I didn't read the instructions until I was ready to get started. With a few extra enemas I was good to go. I gave it three stars for ease of use because as far as adding water, shaking, and drinking every ten minutes, it was pretty easy, but choking it down was one of the hardest things I've had to do in a while. Sorry if you have to drink this. I guess the plus side is that it sure ends up leaving your body awfully quickly. And I gave it one star for satisfaction because I'd seriously rather shoot myself in a non-essential body part than have to drink that again.Read More Read Less

Gavilyte-C was easier to use and had a better taste than a previous colonoscopy prep liquid I've used. I fasted the day before the exam, drinking half of the Gavilyte the afternoon before the procedure and the other half 5 1/2 hrs before the procedure (the next day). I have a history of migraines but had no problem with a migraine throughout the process. I also experienced very little nausea. All went well except that my bowels did not empty completely, so the doctor wasn't able to do the full exam. Read More Read Less
