I have had no negative effects from this treatment and have been taking it for almost 3 years. I think this goes to show that all types of birth control effect women differently. The only side-effect that I experience is that I do not have a period anymore, which to me is a good thing.

I've been using this pill for about 6-7 months now and I was afraid to give it a try because of all the reviews of weight gain from it. I'm happy to say that I haven't gained any weight but have actually lost 2-3 pounds. My periods are rather irregular because when I take the fourth week pills I get my period for less than a day. I have noticed that I have been breaking out a little bit more than I usually do but I think it's great.

I'm 46 and previously taking Lutera. I changed Dr's and wanted a pill that had both estrogen and progrestin. I've been on this for three weeks. My first period lasted 10 days, I have gained 5 pounds, I had horrible cramping, my heart has been racing for two days now, I have been tired, have had bad dreams (when I don't normally remember dreaming) and my moods have been scary. I've never been affected by medication like this and have made an appointment with my Dr. to change this immediately. With reading similar reactions, I can't believe this drug is allowed on the market. Read More Read Less

I have been taking this birth control for about a year now. I got it or acne and birth control. I am still not pregnant so the medicine has done its job! However, sex is MISERABLE because this birth control has severely decreased my natural lubrication and caused vaginal dryness. My acne hasn't cleared up anymore than it has with other birth controls. I have probably had maybe 5 periods within that year of taking this. I will have one then miss one, two, or three, then when I finally have it after missing that many the cramps are HORRIFIC! Also, when I miss these periods it gets my pH level & hormones unbalanced and then I have to go to the doctor(because they smell and discharge is awful) and pay A LOT of money to treat BV. On the other hand, the periods usually last me anywhere from 1 to 3 days. I'm going to switch pills however just because they cons have outweighed the pros in my case.Read More Read Less

This is the first birth control I've taken. While I do need it for protective uses, I need it more as I was just diagnosed pcos. This was the first step in balancing out my hormones. 3 days in, I saw my allergies heightened. A week or so in, I was in so much pain and just not feeling well that I rushed to the doctor. They said it shouldn't be the BC, and my gyno said these feelings of illness were normal. 3 or 4 days ago my arms started getting red, itchy, acne ridden, basically feeling like I had a rash or sunburn. On top of that, I started my period again despite just sort of finishing when I started the pills. I've been having periods every other week for a month or so after not having it at all for months. This was supposed to fix that butso far I'm experiencing more bad than good. My gyno called me this morning after calling them about my arms and said I need to stop taking it immediately. Not sure if I'm having an allergic reaction to it or not, but the acne and irritability are definitely the same as others are experiencing. Read More Read Less

Although this medication has been effective regarding preventing pregnancy, I have not had a period in over 6 months. At month 4, I called my doctor and they told me that this is a typical response to this birth control, but I cannot imagine that this is healthy as I mood into my thirties. As a result of this (most likely), I have gained a significant amount of weight. Previously I was taking Loestrin and there was never a problem in over 10 years. As soon as I switched, the side effects have been overwhelming. I will be asking to change soon. Read More Read Less

I was given this by my pharmacy when I tried to get back on Loestrin, which, as you might've read by now, was apparently a miracle drug. Negative: 1) Mood Swings - I want to either cry in bed all day or axe murder everyone I meet. 2) Hair Loss - My hair was thin before, this made it A LOT worse. 3) No Weight Loss - I'm on a low-carb diet with 4 hrs a week at the gym. I lost 15 lbs before starting this, now I can't lose ANYTHING. 4) Fatigue - I used to have all this energy. I thought at first it was because of my diabetes meds, but it's obviously this BC. Positive: 1) Less Craps - Reason I got on it. 2) Less nausa - Reason I got on it. 3) Less acne - I *DID* get some VERY nasty acne in the beginning, but since then, I haven't had my usual breakout pre-period that I'd get off the drug. Verdict: Not worth it. I've barely gotten through one pack of this, and I'm going to quit it after reading all the reviews because I'm having the exact same issues as everyone else. (And they obviously don't get better the longer you stay on.) I'm going on Estrostep since it sounds perfect for me. Read More Read Less

I was originally on Lo estrin 24 and absolutely loved it, sadly it got discontinued. After that I was prescribed Minastrin (worst birth control ever, I do not recommend it) after being dissatisfied with that I was prescribed Gildess. I have only been on it a few weeks but I have the WORST nausea! Waking up out of a dead sleep in the middle of the night to throw up. Has anyone else has this side effect and if so does it subside after awhile?

I started this a year and a half ago after getting a blood clot from Yaz (it was so painful) I will say I spot a lot and missed 4 periods at one point (but I wasn't pregnant)s o that's a bit random. On a plus, I'm young and get around quite a bit and I've never been pregnant even when I missed pills and did-the-do. Very effective. No health problems.

I have been on this pill for just over a month and really dislike it. I, like other users, am tired all the time. Plus, the bloat and weight gain from this medication has been awful. I have not changed my diet and gained 6 lbs in 2-3 weeks. I have been some type of birth control pill on and off for over 16 years, and this is by far the worse pill I have ever used.

I was put on this birth control because my original birth control I was on was discontinued (Loestrin). I've been on this new one for a few months now and I absolutely hate it. I've been getting this weird skin problem (tiny bumps) that just appeared out of nowhere, and cystic boils on my back and face. Before this I have never had a problem with acne, at least not this bad. Every morning a few hours before it's time for me to take it, I start cramping and bleeding as if I'm starting my period. Every morning this happens until about 2 hours after I take it. I heard loestrin is finally back and I actually just called my doctor and their switching me back. I can't explain how happy I am to start back on my old birth control because this current one is just awful.Read More Read Less

Started this pill about a year and a half ago and have noticed many changes. I never had a problem with my weight or having to watch what I eat, but after using this pill I have gained an excessive amount of weight and MUST watch what I eat. I now go to the gym five days a week to keep myself from gaining weight. My periods used to be VERY heavy but have reduced so much that I don't even get a period now, even when I do take the brown pills. Don't know whether thats a good or bad thing. Last, I have absolutely NO sex drive, which I feel awful for my fiancé for. Overall the pill is doing what I wanted (no period), but doesn't have the best side effects.Read More Read Less

HORRIBLE! I was on this medication due to menstrual migraines. I was mean and miserable! I had very low sex drive, too. I took this pill for 4 months hoping I would get used to it but no such luck. I have been off of it for 10 days and I feel much better and I am a much nicer person. I wish my insurance did not stop paying for Loestrin it was a great pill for me. I rather suffer from migraines than be moody and mean.

I was switched to this pill due to loestrin being discontinued. I've been on it for 5 months and absolutely HATE it. No sex drive, constantly spotting, migraines, acne and extremely moody. My poor husband is getting the short end of the stick. Thankfully loestrin is back and now being called lomedia 24fe. Once this pack of gildess is done then I will be switching. I just want my no periods and sex drive back!!!

I've loved Gildess. I've heard that women with heavy bleeding tend to spot continually while on Gildess, but I've had no problem whatsoever. I didn't gain a pound when I started it, haven't spotted at all, have predictable (and much lighter) periods, and haven't experienced any mood swings or changes in affect (depressive symptoms, etc.). Highly recommended!

I am half way through the second pack and I am stopping right now after reading other reviews. I have had the WORST experience ever on this. I missed my last period and there are no signs of it coming. I eat mainly raw foods and do yoga everyday and go to the gym regularly and have for 2 years. Right when I started this BC, I felt extremely tired and got acne on my neck and jaw line, my hair looks unhealthy, but the worst is being so bloated everyday. My stomach is so bloated all the time I look 4 months pregnant. When I wake up I look normal but if I just have an apple for breakfast, it just gets huge but not gassy. My diet has not changed. I feel like I have not smiled in over a month, which is not my personality. My feet and ankles get swollen after walking around the block. This has honestly been the worst experience with birth control I have ever had.Read More Read Less

Weight gain! I workout everyday and eat healthy, all of a sudden I started putting on weight in my stomach and realized it was 6 weeks into being on this pill. I'm also experiencing irritability, I will be changing pills ASAP!

I think this is my 4th pack that I have taken. My husband and I saved sex for marraige (making the excitement/sex drive for our wedding night after dating for a few years extremely high); however, as soon as I got on the pill, I noticed my sex drive decreased a TON (annoying) and I became much more irritable. While I don't want to "blame" the pill for my actions, I did notice that there was a change after I started taking it. I have not experienced acne and my cramps before/during my period have been just toned down a bit, not a lot though. My breasts did become larger (yay!)but I am thinking about switching to something else because it has effected our sex-life and it has become extremely frustrating because my sex-drive literally became night and day after taking it Read More Read Less

Probably the worst medication I've ever taken. Made my skin break out extremely bad. I normally have perfectly clear skin (a result of being on acutane for a year), and this BC gave me bad breakouts. I gained about 15 pounds only in my stomach within the first month of taking it. I was also extremely sad and moody all the time. Do not take this medication.
