I have had no negative effects from this treatment and have been taking it for almost 3 years. I think this goes to show that all types of birth control effect women differently. The only side-effect that I experience is that I do not have a period anymore, which to me is a good thing.

I switched to this drug as a supliment to loestrin.. It was said to be it's generic. I have tried only 3 birth controls and this one by far has been the hardest. I have missed periods after periods, had severe mood swings( and I'm usually a very high energy happy person) from anger to sadness, borderline depression had set in within these last two months and I've been taking it for about 8 or 9 now. I have no sex drive, hair falling out, bloating , a little eight gain, high aggression and high spells of sadness. I would never recommend this one to anyone. No other birth control has done this much to me. Read More Read Less

Gildess really seems to help with my symptoms of PMDD. Also, it helps regulate my period. All though I still experience some pain, it's only natural! It lessons the severity of the side effects, so I'm happy. 5/5.

I took this for a few years. I didn't have any side effects other than a light period or none at all!! I was switched to sprinter this month and I miss my Gildess. I an broken out all over and tired all the time. I never had that with Gildess. My skin was clear and I never gained any weight. (I actually lost weight and toned up before my wedding). I wish I could switch back. Plus my Gildess was free through my insurance. It worked well for me and I'd love to go back. I think everyone is different and different people respond differently to medication. You just have to find what works with your body best. Read More Read Less

I have always struggled with depression and the last 2 yrs have been horrible with it. I thought it was just me getting older and it getting worse. I sought out therapy and took many medications and finally this month I went to see my doctor and complained how I can't take it anymore and nothing I do is helping. We'll hello it's the BC and the hormones that are making me miserable! I have had muscle soreness, extreme bloating, no sex drive among the added anxiety of weight gain. I just took my last pill a few days ago and am hoping to get on track again. Feel "normal" again. This is not a pill for me. Read More Read Less

I am 23 years old, just graduated from college. My mother and I decided it was time to start taking something ten times cheaper than what I had been taking in the previous 8 years since I'd be supporting myself from now on. I was prescribed this BC pill, and its been 4 months now and I am SO dissatisfied with it. I thought it was just me being an emotional wreck all the time by being EXTREMELY tired and not wanting to eat, getting acne all over my face and skipping two periods. Although I have not ruled out pregnancy (as of today), but after googling about 15 websites (and by reading everyone else's reviews) its looking like its normal to be skipping periods and its also normal to be having all these other side effects that I seemed to be having! Its very upsetting that my GYNO didn't mention that not having periods could have been a possibility with taking this medication. The other side effects I mentioned are also NOT minor...they are VERY prominent, and its not like me at all to get acne, be tired, and lose my appetite. Not to mention, I barely want to have sex with my boyfriend anymore, and when we do it KILLS me because I stop feeling lubricated after a few minutes. I am always in SO much pain during penetration, and that isn't normal for me either. By the looks of it, I'm not the only one experiencing that behavior as well. If you are looking for a cheaper birth control than what you have now, please be careful and ask your GYNO if this would be right for your body or not. This was supposed to be "perfect" for me according to my medical chart, but I have NEVER had unfortunate side effects with ANY BC pill I've taken until now. I would hate to see somebody else go through the same negativity that I have while being on this pill.Read More Read Less

I have been on this for a year once Loestren 24 was discontinued. I now realize this has been the cause of my sever mood swings, which eventually turned into severe depression. I now have a full period, which I haven't had in several years and the wonderful debilitating cramps that go along with it. I am taking myself off of any BC once this pack is done. No more hormones for me!

Started this birth control near the end of September, I am about halfway through the first pack. I was previously on OrthoTri Cyclen Lo for 3 years, but switched to see if it would affect the migraines I have. The last two weeks i have had cramps, muscle aches in my neck and lower back, spotting since about day 5, and moodiness/irritability. I will be switching back to my original birth control at the end of this pack.

I have been taking this medication for 5 years. I didnt want to switch because i heard that causes problems and i tried a few times it it made things worse so i went back. I have gained 65 pounds in the last two years because all yhe hormones are starting to build up and cause problems. I am very active and now i dont even want to go on a run because i have no drive. I spot and get surprise mini periods all the time. Being 16 and having these isues is ridicoulus. I have gotten so upset from trying to lose weight and ewt healthy and work out and i still gained weight. I actually could not find a dress for our school dance without crying my eyes out for days. I dont like going to school now because people will ask "oh hey are you pregnant?" And i am not and dont plan to be for a couple years. This is the worst bc i have ever taken and i seriously regret it. I started it to regulate periods. Now that im gettin cramps, my doctor says they are naturally ragulated so i can stop it. And oh hell yes i will!Read More Read Less

While using Glidess Fe 1.5/30 I have experienced, mood swings, anger, crying fits, release of tissue, and horrible cramps. I have never experienced these symptoms so I asked my pharmacist about it and he said it was time for me to switch.

For the past month, I have noticed an extreme change in my personality. I often find myself getting so unbelievably emotional about things I have never been emotional about in the past. I am generally a really happy person, so I knew something was wrong which led me to read these reviews and I am SOO glad I did! I just took my last pill of the pack today, and you better believe that i will never take this pill again.

Like many others, I was switched to Gildess from LoEstrin 24. While I experienced a couple undesirable side effects on LoEstrin (reduced libido, minor mood swings), I continued with it because it was effective in treating my heavy, frequent, and painful periods. I have been on Gildess for two years, and regret not taking action sooner. I have experienced major depression, mood swings, irritability, fatigue, missed periods, randomly heavy periods, ZERO sex drive, acne (face and body), and migraines. I so wish I had thought to investigate this drug as a potential cause sooner, but I attributed many of these symptoms to the stress of the final year of college. This depression is crippling and has severely impacted my work performance. I am glad to see I am not alone in this reaction to Gildess. Can't wait for my doctor appointment!Read More Read Less

I was prescribed this for perimenopausal symptoms and lack of menstrual cycle. I'm on the young side to be dealing with perimenopause. I've been on this pill for two and a half months. Every pack of week one I experience stomach bloating, headache, nausea and mood swing. I have breast tenderness off and on as well as acne (that I haven't had since teen years). The first two months of the pill I felt super warm all the time. I've had hot flashes but this is just feeling hot/warm all day long. I've never had any spotting or menstrual cycle on this pill. I'm planning on getting off this medicine. Read More Read Less

I recently returned to using BC and was prescribed Gildress by my physician. I am not happy with the side effects which make me feel like I am in a pre-menstrual state for 3 weeks instead of 5-8 days. The worst part of all are the mood swings. I am angry/cranky and impatient more than not. I have contacted my provider to work on finding another product that is better suited for me.

I have never had problems with BC until I began taking this. I am so happy to read everyone else's reviews and see that I'm not going crazy. I have been taking this pill for 2 months and have experienced terrible mood swings. I am angry, irritable, or anxious/nervous 90% of the time. I have no energy and feel extremely fatigued all the time. I have also had muscle stiffness/aches in my back and legs to the point of taking Advil. Already being a person who experiences slight anxiety this medication has made it 10 times worse. I also don't have a period and spot continuously throughout the month. I have an appointment today, and I know that they prefer for patients to try a pill for at least 3 months, but I cannot stand it. I am going off of this pill immediately!Read More Read Less

I was taking this medicine and for the majority of the months I felt fine. However, the past 2 months I have experienced a lot of mood swings and depression while PMSing. I've never felt like that before. And the whole reason I started taking bc was to help control my mood swings and PMS. I figured this couldn't be the problem since it has been many months since I've been on it. But once I stopped taking it I felt better.

I am on my first pack of Gildess Fe and have and nothing but problems. I am going in my third week and I am experiencing excruciating cramps, heavy bleeding, nausea, depression and extremely tired. I have decided to go off of it for good. Be extremely cautious when using this drug.

I previously used loestrin fe but it was discontinued so I was prescribed this. I have never had side effects from a bc in my life until now. I feel weak, nauseated and have constant throbbing headaches. I have no energy and have terrible mood swings. I am currently waiting my appointment to have paragard implanted and get off this bc as soon as possible!

I have been on this for about 6 months after my insurance quit covering my old birth control. I have taken it how I am supposed to and not gotten pregnant. However, my sex drive has lowered and in the 6 months I have been on it I gained almost 40 lbs. and didn't even realize it until I stepped on the scale at the doctor.
