I have used Halflytely twice prior to colonoscopy. The pineapple flavor is OK, cherry less so. It is a chore to force it down, but not that bad. I had minimal cramping, and my experience seems to have been much less awful than for most people. I will use it for the next procedure rather than trying something new. After the colonoscopy, I was able to start eating light food almost immediately,...

I have used this product twice for 2 colonoscopies. I found it easy to use and it did its job. The only real problem I had with it was not really with the product itself. I suffered a bit of incontinence and a very sore bottom after drinking all the solution. Perhaps the next time I will just stay in the bathroom to drink this since the reaction was so quick. I had no other side effects.

After the colonoscopy, I was able to start eating light food almost immediately, and real solid food within a few hours with no difficulties. The colonoscopy itself is a breeze, but make sure it is done in hospital and not at the doctor's surgery. You get stronger drugs!Read More Read Less

In preparation for a colonoscopy (asymptomatic) I was prescribed Halflytely. Prior to injesting the biacodyl tablets I drank in excess of 64 oz of water as instructed. At 12Noon I took the 4 biacodyl tablets anticipating an very uncomfortable afternoon. After an hour and a half I started to feel severe bloating with even more severe cramping... within short order I had fainted and experienced projectile vomiting. After that it was all downhill. It was three hours before I started to move my bowels, all the while still suffering from the cramping. During those three hours the cramping was a constant and also was experiencing chills, sweats and continuing nausea. I was disoriented and though I'm sure I wasn't in shock, I certainly was in a stupor which now I know first hand what a stuper really is. Only having given birth once I equate the cramping to birth contractions, sans the break between contractions. Having had experience with lactose intolerance several years ago after a particular bad bout with diarrhea, I am very familiar with severe cramping and don't consider my self a weenie when it comes to pain. I seriously considered going to the hospital, actually calling for an ambulance so I would be taken immediately into an examination room and not have to sit in the waiting area. Eventually I was talked out of visiting the emergency room. All I wanted was relief from the cramps. I spoke to my doctor who didn't appear to be particularly concerned or for that matter sympathetic. Needless to say I did not continue with the next steps and cancelled the procedure the next day. My fear was tht if I continued with the next steps of injesting the phosphate concoction I would only increase the pain. Ten days later I am still experiencing tenderness in my gut and a loss of appetite. I have not spoken to my doctor since the afternoon of my prep day. Has anyone else had such a similar adverse reaction? MaggieMaeRead More Read Less
