Ihave been on 3 different types of birth control for "21" years! I started when I was 18 to control my periods with Ortho-Novumm 7-7-7. In my 20's I tried the Depo shot and it worked well with and was convenient but expensive. Now that I am getting older, I am on Lutera and have been for over a decade and it is considered a ver low dos pill. The less estrogen as you get older, the better. The...

Love. Love. Love! I have tried at least 5 different types of birth control pills and all of them gave me issues with cystic acne and depression/anxiety. Lutera is the first birth control that has not caused me to feel depression or sad all of the time. My skin is glowing and I know for a fact that this pill is the reason is it SO clear! I know everyone reacts to the pill differently but don't give up looking for the right one! I'm so glad I finally found it! Good luck ladies!

I hate this medication since starting it for the past three weeks ive had heavy bleeding, its made my skin terrible, gained a lot of water weight and it is just making me miserable, I don't know if I can put up with this for 3 months to wait for it to take its effect. Btw im 26, so women who are older like me avoid this stuff. I took ortho tri cyclen lo when I was 20 and man it was a breeze now that im older these hormones act so differently.

Breast tenderness at the beginning but that disappears after a month. I had no side effects with this pill and felt completely normal which was great!! However even after 6 months, this pill couldn't stop my breakthrough bleeding so I have to switch :(

I have been on this pill for 3 months. I have gained a bit of weight but then again that can also be due to me not working out as much as I used to. My breast feel fuller and more sensitive. Sex Drive is still there. No pregnancies! I do get a little more emotional before my period. Which is not good, but that can just be me. Overall I am happy because no pregnancies. I Just dont like the fact that I have to be on it, and I feel a little heavier (like 8 pounds more)

I am 24 now and took Lutera for the last 3 years. It was wonderful right away (especially in helping me stop spotting and preventing pregnancy!)However, 4 months ago I decided to stop taking it as side effects just kept coming. I experienced dark spots on my face, ZERO sex drive(which slowly got worse through the years), VERY moody and felt like I could cry if anyone hurt my feelings, and developed awful acne. My doctor said it is not that uncommon to developed side effects much later- but these side effects were not enough for me to take the no spotting! I am currently looking into a new pill! I would seriously not take this pill if you plan on being on it for a while!!Read More Read Less

I have been on Lutera for jus tender 4 months. It is so bad my boyfriend calls it Luterror. I have lower abdominal cramping, mood swings, diarrhea, breast and nipple tenderness and swelling. My sex drive just died last month. But the cherry on top is that I also started to lose my hair! So Saturday will be my last day. Pros: not pregnant, no weight gain, skin is very clear.

I was on this for about 4 months, I don't think my skin will ever forget it. It's going to take years to repair what this birth control did to my back, and I'm the type of person that was blessed with beautiful clear skin my entire life. Switched to lo loestrin and did not look back. Aside from murdering my poor skin it was fine, no complaints with moodiness or weight gain. I havent had a period in years from being on Loestrin and its generics for so long, so I cant speak for that department.

Lutera works really well for me. Prior to taking it I was on the depo provera injection. This pill cleared my acne and my moods improved. My periods have become super light and only last 3 days at the most. Overall I am very satisfied with it.

Just started taking this pill and so far no complains. I bled for a couple of days. I take it at 8pm every night. I feel like my boobs are fuller. I dont have any significant symptons and my sexual drive is still there. It works different on everyone but so far, no complaints.

I've been on Lutera for 4 months. I was a little apprehensive to take this particular birth control pill after reading the reviews of it. Fortunately, I had no real negative side effects. My acne cleared up a lot, I haven't gained weight, any increase in my breasts is insignificant, since I'm still wearing the same size bra. There is an increase in discharge, which is one of the purposes of the pill. That's mildly annoying, but what you must live with. My periods are a lot lighter--went from super plus tampons every 2-3 hours to super and regular tampons every 4-5 hours. Unfortunately, every birth control pill reacts differently for each person.Read More Read Less

This birth control made me completely crazy. I had major mood swings and would snap at people all the time. I did not feel like myself at all! I gained 10 pounds and had stomach cramping. I also got this weird pain in my rib cage for 7+ months that went away as soon as I switched to a new pill last month. No sex drive at all. Depressed. The only good thing about this pill is I didn't get pregnant while on it.

After a few months of using Lutera, my periods were very light and only lasted about 2 days with the rest of the week only slight spotting. Plus, I didn't gain any weight (unlike Ortho Tri Cyclen which I took a couple years back). I loved that part of it. The downside? It completely wrecked my sense of sanity. I went from being a very rational person to a complete emotional wreck for the majority of every month. Six months into the pill I began to really notice how much more "alive" I felt during the week of my period when I was off the active pills. I could think clearer, and my sense of optimism was back. On the pill, I became dark and brooding, and always pissy. Every single month, I fell into bouts of depression and severe irritability to where I wouldn't even want to say hi to my boyfriend when I got home. I wanted to end our relationship purely based on how I felt with no optimistic thinking or sense of desire whatsoever: "This doesn't feel right." Nothing felt right!! And I was severely lacking any sense of sexual interest, despite the passion I felt when I first met him and my continued strong attraction more than a year later. I lost interest in everything, and I turned from cheery and contemplative to bitter, pessimistic and an absolute bitch, insulting my boyfriend and seemingly hating everything around me. Last week on my active pills, I wanted to chuck the damn things across the universe until they dissolved into oblivion. This week on my inactive pills, I feel entirely sane and have been laughing and smiling like normal. (Not to mention: I like to write and have only felt "inspired" to write when I'm off the pills!) I am NOT touching another pack.Read More Read Less

I know that every body is different and will react differently to different brands of birth control. For me, lutera seems to be the right product. I used to be on Loestrin 24 but found that it was causing recurring BV and Yeast infections so I was switched to lutera since it has a lower estrogen level. So far, things have been pretty good. I have been getting some nausea and worsening of acne but I assume that these side effects will go away in a couple of months once my body adjusts (like it did with loestrin). I have not had mood swings or headaches like I had when I started Loestrin so that has been nice. Also, I've had no yeast or BV since I switched! That in itself is good enough for me :DRead More Read Less

This pill was perfection the 1st year I was on it!! Then over the past few months my PMDD got bad,I started breaking out, spotting between periods, migraines started kicking in and crazy mood swings. Overall nice pill that prevents pegnancy. The 1st year I was on this was great with no side effects and a period that was light and lasted 1day out of the month was awesome....I wish the bad side effects never started cuz I loved this pill...oh well atleast I had a good year with it lol

After taking Lutera for over 2 years, I have to say that I am very happy with it. 3 years ago, I used to take ortho-tricyclen-lo, which gave me extreme mood swings and high irritability. With Lutera, my mood swings have disapeared. I also haven't experienced any side effects that other reviews mentioned-- no cramps, spotting, or irregular periods. My periods have been cut down from 5 days to only 3 days. Overall, Lutera has been quite dependable and consistent for me :)

I have been on this pill for about 4 years now and have never had problems. I was on a different pill at one point because of no insurance, and had noticed an increase in weight gain, now that I went back to my normal doctor and back on this pill, I have noticed a change in my weight (decreasing). however recently I noticed that the pill sometimes gets stuck in my esophagus if I do not drink a full glass of water with it (user error :D ).

I read these reviews before I started Lutera and they made me terrified. Now I've been on it for 3 months and I have had a great experience. I have no way of knowing if my mood changed due to the pill or just my general life circumstances (just graduating college, long distance relationship.) Same goes for the weight gain, I did have a tendency to overeat more often than I did before the pill. The one difference I noticed almost immediately was my breasts got much larger and more tender. Not really a problem. I have had some changed in my libido but it seems to be kicking back in. I'd say give it 3 months to see if symptoms level off and if they don't then try a different one. But its nice to not use condoms and my period is MUCH lighter and shorter. Read More Read Less

I am 21 I have been on this BC method for 3 years. I have not had any weight gain, I get mood swings, and I have lost my sex drive. However I hate having to stop in the middle of whatever I'm doing to take my pill everyday at the same time. I am really thinking about switching to another method but I like knowing when I can expect my period

Lutera is the first BC I've ever tried. I'm halfway through my second pack and I have ZERO complaints! There have been no negative side effects whatsoever. The only thing I've noticed is that my breasts have gotten almost 1 cup size larger and my period was only 5 days instead of 7 with a MUCH MUCH lighter flow. I've had no headaches, mood swings, skin problems, or decreased sex drive. When I went to Planned Parenthood to get the first set of pills, the nurse I talked to said that I would most likely have fewer side effects than most people because I am fairly young compared to most women who take it. I take the pill every morning and I notice no physical upsets if I happen to take it a few hours earlier or later than the day before due to whatever reasons. Overall I'd say this is a GREAT pill if you're just starting out on BC like I am, but everyone is going to have different results. Best of luck to you all!Read More Read Less
