Ihave been on 3 different types of birth control for "21" years! I started when I was 18 to control my periods with Ortho-Novumm 7-7-7. In my 20's I tried the Depo shot and it worked well with and was convenient but expensive. Now that I am getting older, I am on Lutera and have been for over a decade and it is considered a ver low dos pill. The less estrogen as you get older, the better. The...

This product has gained me about 5 pounds and I've been on it for about 3 months now. My breasts have grown a cup size. The one huge problem I have with this product is that I have awful nasesa 1-4 days after getting back on after my period. I throw up about 6-10 times in the morning. I was told by my doc that this is normal because of the hormones. Other then that, great product. Easy to use.

When I first started taking it I has breast tenderness and sometime headaches but after my body got used to it I was fine. I did gain a lot of weight after taking it. It did clear up my achne and I did have mood swings sometimes and it didn't kill my libido but don't have sex as much as I used to. Last month it was on back order and I was only recently able to get it agian and now I'm having headaches, mood swings, nausea and vomiting.I'm think of switching to a different birth control now.

I started taking Lutera over a year ago and it was my first birth control. It worked amazingly both for regulating my periods and also making sure I didn't get pregnant. This pill is honestly 100% reliable, I had a few times where other birth control methods failed (i.e. the condom broke) and Lutera did not fail me. Only side effects for me was the week before I had my period, I did act a little crazy and got extra bitchy. Also my body did get used to the pill too much and I had to switch because I was getting my period irregularly again. If it weren't for my body getting used to it, I would have continued to take Lutera.Read More Read Less

I'm 18 years old and have been taking Lutera for about 3 weeks now and in my opinion, it is an amazing pill! I used to take Chateal, but it gave me terrible mood swings along with acne so I stopped taking Chateal and switched to Lutera. The only side effects that I have encountered with Lutera so far are: 1.) VERY SORE breasts!! (I joke with my boyfriend that now he can't touch my boobs cuz they're too sore and sensitive.) 2.) Small amount of irritability. Although my moodiness is not nearly as bad as it was while I was on Chateal, I have noticed a small increase in my irritability. (But it's so minor that I have already gotten used to managing it.( 3.) Bigger breasts!! Since taking Lutera, the size of my breasts have increased a lot. In my opinion, this side effect makes up for having sore breasts. Read More Read Less

I'm nearly done with my second pack of this pill, and I'm actually really liking it. I've never been a huge fan of birth control, but my boyfriend and I decided it'd be a good idea -- we aren't ready for kids ... Yet! Anyways, I got on this pill because I had some really bad side effects from Ortho Tri-Cyclen (5lb weight gain in less than 2 months (I'm a freak about this), terrible cystic acne on my jawline and chin, bloated, mood swings, the list goes on and on). I wanted something with much lower hormones, so my doctor prescribed me Lutera. I was skeptical after reading reviews, but the truth is, birth control affects everyone differently. I don't believe I've gained weight from this pill (although it hasn't made me lose weight, either), and my skin actually seems clearer than it did on OTC (I've never had an issue with acne until OTC, so that was frustrating). Personally, I would recommend this pill to someone looking for a low hormone birth control. However, like I said, all birth control affects everyone differently. Good luck! Read More Read Less

This is the first birth control I've ever taken. I got it for my awful cramps and heavy bleeding. So far there hasn't been any difference in either one. I took this for almost 3 months and I had my period twice a month. No weight gain, but I've felt sort of moody lately then again being on your period for half of the month could make a difference. I just got switched over to something stronger.

I have been on this birth control for at least four years. My periods are shorter, lighter and cramps are non-existent; its pretty fantastic. My only issue is a lower sex drive over the years.

I switched from the Nuvaring to Lutera about a week ago. So far, I have had a good experience. I have felt nauseous a couple days, as well as some constipation. A good side effect that I got was that my face cleared up! I never had ance, but zits here and there. My face is not oily at all anymore! Other than that, it has been good so far. I haven't had any weight gain, yet. Sure hoping I found the right fit for me!

18/5'7"/138lbs. I have never taken birth control before so planned parenthood started me on this before switching me to an IUD. The pills were effective I didn't get pregnant and the side effects were minimal--my chest got larger (I would say a full cup size) and were slightly sore every day and I was sluggish, low energy especially in the afternoon. Note that I was only on it for three weeks as I switched to an IUD. I also gained about 5 pounds however part of that could be I was too tired/lazy to hit the gym.Read More Read Less

This is by far my favorite birth control! It has definitely helped me lose weight, I was soooo worried I would gain weight and I certainly have not. I get my period on time every single month, I am not pregnant and my skin is less oily. I have noticed that my sex drive is super low, my husband has definitely noticed. I love it, I would recommend it to anyone. I still am pretty mean the week of my period, so that hasn't changed. unfortunately.

I have been on this form of birth control for a full year. It took my body three months to adjust to the birth control to where I noticed clearer skin, weight loss, etc. However I lost my sex drive recently, I still experience inconvenient breakthrough bleeding, and I had severe depression/mood swing issues with this pill. I retrospect I should have switched to a different pill a while ago however I wanted something with minimal hormones that would rid my boyfriend and I the worry of being premature parents. It gets the job done but there are defiantly better ones out there. Read More Read Less

This is the worst BCP I have ever taken. It does what it's supposed to do - prevent pregnancy - but I think that's because my libido is non-existent since starting this pill. Over about 15 years, I've taken Alesse, Aviane, and Alysena with no problem. I'm on my 3rd month of Lutera and I'm done with it. I have extreme mood swings, irritability with everyone (friends, family, colleagues), depression symptoms, random cramps in the middle of my cycle, 5lb weight gain, and recently noticed hair loss. I would rather discontinue this medication in the middle of the package instead of endure another 2 weeks of it.Read More Read Less

I was really worried about taking Lutera, because it was my first Pill, but I've only seen good results with it. I have less bleeding and my mood swings have been drastically reduced. In addition, I've had less problem spots on my face, and my libido has remained high. Definitely a good one!

I switched to Lutera from the NuvaRing and I've been super happy with it! My mood has actually gotten better, my periods are lighter (after the first 2 months), and I hardly get any cramps! Only downsides are I do get premenstrual diarrhea and a teeny bit more acne than usual, but those are totally manageable. The most important thing for me with birth control is that my mood stays happy, and it really has!!!

This works great as a birth control. BUT it caused horrible mood swings and turned me into a crazy, angry, bitch. I'm so glad I have found other reviews that state the same things. I am done with this birth control. It made me feel crazy.

I like it now, but first month took some getting used too. I was nauseas in the mornings and my boobs were very sore. After the first month it got better! My Periods are now only three days long and light! Mild cramping , I've also lost 15 pounds in two months and I have not changed my diet or exercise. Sticking to this !

I've been on this pill for about a year now... at the beginning I was really scared by the effects. My period was on and off for awhile and had lots of spotting. Although after a couple months it all stopped and my period is shorter and lighter for the duration of the time! I might've experienced a little weight gain..not too much to my knowledge since starting it though. Yeah and of course, no pregnancies here!...thankfully.
