Ihave been on 3 different types of birth control for "21" years! I started when I was 18 to control my periods with Ortho-Novumm 7-7-7. In my 20's I tried the Depo shot and it worked well with and was convenient but expensive. Now that I am getting older, I am on Lutera and have been for over a decade and it is considered a ver low dos pill. The less estrogen as you get older, the better. The...

I was on this birth control for 6 months. At first, I thought the side effects were just because of the pill changing my hormones and trying to get my body balanced out. It did a great job at getting me on track with my cycle, BUT it also caused my face to break out with severe cystic acne that I still have yet to completely get rid of and Iâ??ve been switched off the pill for a couple months. I was blessed with great skin all through my teenage years and early twenties, so cystic acne was foreign to me. I wouldnâ??t recommend this drug to anyone. Save your face from acne scarring and try a different birth control pill. Read More Read Less

I am half way through my second pack. During my first pack, my period was SO SO SO much lighter. Before Lutera, I’d have awful PMS for 8-12 days... aka I was miserable most of the month. My skin seems to be purging congestion in my pores. I’ve been a bit moodier but this pack has been better than the last. Overall, I feel pretty darn good.

It does what it’s supposed to do. I didn’t get pregnant, but I had HORRIBLE insomnia whenever I took it at night, and I’ve gained about 10-15 pounds, which on a 5’2” frame feels pretty significant. No sex drive whatsoever.

Horrible! Breakthrough bleeding every single day, and acne started after 2 weeks. I’m also hormonal, moody, have no energy, and bloated like crazy.

This birth control was my first birth control I ever took bc my periods were long and heavy and the week before my period, I would be exhausted and sleep all the time right before and be so bloated and moody, lutera helped clear my skin, keep the bloating off, and my quality of life improved exponentially. The only downside was that I got one migraine in the first 2 months bc i still had to adjust and I jad a little bit of spotting bc I only took the pink pills every 3 months but my body adjusted in the end and I had no other problems.Read More Read Less

i was on lutera for 8 months and I had some weird side effects. first few months my breast were sore and enlarged, I gained 10 pounds. I had some mood swings bt I thought my body was regulating. by the 7th and 8th month I had extreme anxiety and dipression. my sex drive was so low, had vision problems and my arms and legs felt numb. I stopped taking Lutera 2 weeks ago and I still feel depressed and anxious. I woulf never take it again. it has been a total nightmare for me. Cant believe how a little pill can affect your mental health. I wish I would've done some research before trying it. Read More Read Less

I had previously been on this daily birth control pill for 2-3 years. I stopped taking the pill when my partner suggested it was the source of my uncontrollable mood swings and anxiety. I would go out in public and basically have a meltdown from the out of no where anxiety.I was back to my normal, sunshine self less than a month of being off the pill, and stayed that way for a number of years. I recently decided to give birth control (other than condoms) another go, I sadly ended up with Lutera again, despite explaining the side effects I had previously experienced. My doctor asked if I wanted to give it another go as I was older and my hormones had probably balanced out better. Sadly, I agreed. Two weeks in and my mood swings were giving me and my partner whiplash, the anxiety was back, and the thought of having sex with him disgusted me. Its safe to say I will never take Lutera again.Read More Read Less

I have been on Lutera for two years and I cannot recommend this product. I wish I had done my research two years ago. I would have avoided a lot of pain. I have terrible migraines almost daily, the weight gain is crazy, I get nauseous a lot, I experience dizziness, not to mention depression and also terribly oily skin. I have never had oily skin until I started using this product. My periods are easier to deal with but it's not worth the side effects. I just never put it together all these years that my birth control could be the cause of my declining health. People please do your research, including chemical research!Read More Read Less

I am starting up my second pack this upcoming Sunday. my first week was a breeze being on this BC, my anxiety and depression seemed to ease up that I had from my last birth control (Safyral). I was pleased, halfway through my first pack I noticed my breasts were EXTREMELY sensitive, just to the touch. my anxiety recently just came back, my sex drive is at its lowest point, and not to mention- today is day 13 of my period and my flow is STILL heavy! not sure if that's just my bodies way of adjusting, but for the short time I've been on this BCP, I'm rating it a 6/10 as of now. Hopefully my opinion will change when my body finally regulates!Read More Read Less

Tried another bc pill, it made me sick & insane. So far I seem to be doing ok. Some nausea/depression but have had these problems in the past. Have been taking for 3 months. Having a regular period & less cramps.

Been on Lutera since I was 18 (21 now) and I love it! I used to have really bad acne no matter what medication I used to try & get rid of it, but my acne is completely gone now (with the exception of 1-2 pimples if I'm super stressed) My periods used to be 10 days, but now only 5-6 days and very light. Had a little spotting when I was first put on it but nothing out of the normal.

This gave me very bad migraines. I was nauseous, sensitive to light and sound, and had a headache constantly 24 hours a day. I quit taking this pill, and within two days, the migraines stopped. I was only on this birth control for 7 days when the migraines started.

I started Lutera when I was 19. I was in a serious relationship and I wanted to be safe. I did not have any acne, cramps, cycle, ect. issues. Before BC, my periods were normal and my cramps were bad but only the first day. I loved being on BC. I am 24 now and I have been off Lutera for a month and I feel great. I have no acne issues and my period was normal. My husband and I are trying to conceive so that is still in the works. So far everything is great. Will definitely get back on it once I have a baby. I am 18 years old. I am not sexually active but I was put on Lutera birth control because I am in a serious relationship and you never know. I'd rather be safe than sorry. I've been on it for exactly 2 weeks and 2 days. I have NEVER had acne except for one small pimple here and there. NOW, I have breakouts all over my face, too many to count! I found a pimple on my neck AND back!I have the worst mood swings ever! My patience is like a one! I get mad for no reason. I feel so sad all the time! I cry for everything. I feel like a different person and it sucks! I have always been so outgoing and loud and fun! Now I never smile and I am either getting mad at my boyfriend for no reason or I am crying my eyes out to him because he makes a funny joke. I take everything to offense and I really just want to scream because I am so mad sometimes. I also have these sharp stomach cramps, stomach aches and feel nauseous. I had to take two pills Saturday because I skipped Friday and i threw up Sunday morning. have also been bleeding dark brown since saturday. It is now tuesday. They all say your first month is the worst and your body needs to get used to it so I have been sticking through it and only need a week in a half. My boyfriend has been here for me 100 percent but i just hate putting him through this misery I am going through. my question is: Does it get better? Should I pull it together this month? Does this mean I am not compatible with it? Please help.Read More Read Less

Has helped TONS with acne, I had stubborn line along my jawline and lower cheeks for 2 months that went away within 4 weeks of taking Lutera. Periods have been about the same, not much different.

I just had a baby and I couldn't remember wat my birth control name was until I got home so my dr at my 6 week postpartum apt gave me a birth control with the lowest dose of estrogen on the market, but the thing is I love birth control. I had NO NEGATIVE side effects from it AT ALL. I took it for contraception, but it made my acne better, made my pms go away, and helped me maintain my weight, the first few years I was on it I have never had such an easy time keeping weight off. I love Lutera!! I have samples of this new birth control so I'm not even going to fill my prescription just in case I decide I want lutera back. Maybe my body just does really well with estrogen. I still had some acne but there was definitely a noticeable difference that my acne was less. I had bad mood swings and cramping before lutera in HS, but after I graduated I went on it and I no longer had mood swings at all and my cramping lessened. I still cramped once in a while but not every period. It also made my period lighter. Instead of a super plus tampon I could usually use a regular. Every couple of months it would be heavier but usually a regular tampon was all I needed. I've always had regular periods so I can't comment in that. Overall I love this birth control.Read More Read Less
