I have been getting alot of pain all over my muscles

My husband has been diabetic for over 40 years; he started taking this medicine on his doctors orders to keep his cholesterol under 140. Vytorin caused him to develop acid reflux. He now has to take medicine for that. It is a side effect that has not gone away yet. He also became very very depressed and sat in his easy chair for months just watching TV. Then a good thing happened he lost his job so could afford Vytorin anymore!! Within 2 months he is back to his old self; playing with the grandkids, making plans for our 40th wedding anniversary etc. He will never go back on that terrible medicine. VERY EFFECTIVE IT LOWERD MY CHOLESTEROL ABOUT 30 POINTS

I have been taking Vytorin 10/40 for about 3yr. and it lowered my colesterol and maintained it wonderfully with little help on my part, but now the leg and joint pain is at a point where I can't take it anymore. I am going to stop taking it for a couple of weeks till I go back to my Dr. for a blood test and see if the leg pain eases.

I have serious muscle side effects and with crazy swings in my electrotites: high calcium, potassium low, glucose all over the place, sweats, headaches, fatigue, depression, dizziness. I had similar symptoms last year and stopped taking Vytorin 10-40 after months the symptoms went away. Neither my MD or I know what was causing the symptoms. So I went back on Vytorin 10-40 and it was okay for a few months, now I have all the debilitationg symptoms I had last year. And now I know the cause. After 3 years of taking this drug I developed muscle weakness and excruciating leg muscle pain and joint stiffness. I stopped taking the grug and the pain is gone,stiffness is almost gone and strength is returning with exercise.

Vytorin did a great job of bringing all of my cholesterol levels under control but, little by little leg muscle and joint pain are up to an unbareable level.

I am still unable to lower my cholesterol to a normal level. My muscles and joints bother me.

I have been on Vytorin 10-40 for over 3 years, and it works great for me after being on zetia and zocor combined and then I was on zocor alone and it worked for about 6 weeks and then my LDL shot right back up I also had fatty deposit under my eyes that the doctor told me would propobly never go away since I have been on Vytorin the fatty deposit under my eyes got smaller one side is completly gone the other is considerably smaller then what it was even my Doctor is amazed I have nothing but positive things to say about this medicine since my cholesterol problem is genetic it runs in my familyRead More Read Less

Since 9/08 I have had a severe increased in muscle weakness, back and neck pain increased, but I have DJD and arthitis, some of my family questioned this vytorin as a contributing factor...plan to discuss with MD and heart MD.

When I first tried this drug for about 6 months, it worked great (no symptoms and it cut my number in half from mid 240s to 106). I started an exercise program and dropped 30 lbs and tried going off this med for 4 months. My numbers went back up to 190 so I started it again. Now I'm experiencing some strong stomach pains keeping me up all night. I plan to follow up with doctor and possibly switch as I'm concerned about the zetia (intestinal part) of the drug.

Have seen a blip on TV news regarding vytorin 10-20 tabs and did not catch the whole story. Any info available?
