I don't like the side effects (constipation, achey muscles) but I'll put up with them because Vytorin works.

I just started with Vytorin 10 days ago, so I don't know what the results will be. But I am ready to throw it away; I have developed a horrible metalic taste in my mouth. It is so distracting, not only does it affect my appetite, but I spend the better part of the day trying to find ways to get rid of this taste. This, combined with a new allergy med have also created a very tired feeling, that...

I had been taking 2 different medications that worked for a while. In addition to my trygliceride levels being too high, I also have an inherited high cholesteral levels. In the first 4 weeks, my counts decreased 80 points in total, with my LDL improving by 40 points, my HDL was much better too.

I have to watch what I eat closely in order to prevent stomach pain due to bile. Liver spots seem to increase somewhat, but I am 64.

I took Vytorin for 3 weeks, it seriously tore up my GI system, (pain, severe gas) Black, black, black stool. Severe lower back muscle pain. Missed 3 weeks of work. It took a month for the pain to subside after discontinuance. The other statins also gave me severe muscle pain, i refuse to take them.

Taking 10/40 for 5 years. Lowered cholesterol from 386 to 234. However, it continually fluctuates and never lower than 234.

I am on disability and on many medications that cause drowsiness. I have a problem falling asleep behind the wheel and other places. This medication has made it much worse.

I was on Vytorin 10/40 po for approximately 5 years. I have a very strong family hx. of sudden heart attacks at an early age. I stopped taking the med. about one year ago, because my liver enzymes were suddenly WAY too high! I don't drink or smoke, and this was very new for me. I felt I had a choice: heart attack or liver failure. No one should have to face that! Also, I noticed that my muscles (not muscle tone) seemed to be "shrinking". And the price of the drug was outrageous! However, my physician seems to have a totally laissez-faire attitude - like "whatever". And recommended that I restart the same medical regimen. Oh, did I mention that I have developed NASH - nonalcoholic fatty-liver disease! This frightens me greatly...even after being off of the med., a recheck shows my liver enzymes still way out of whack. So, I'm going to start taking this mess again. I should get a 2nd opinion, but who can afford all of this in our current "depression"?! With two jobs, we can barely afford dental care for our son! My father died at 21 from ht. disease (3 wks before I was born); my mother died from it at 58; my grandfather had a massive ht. attack at 54, then a final one at 76. Sigh! I have no choice. No one really seems interested and could care less. (And I'm in the nursing profession, too). The info. out there is so confusing and changes constantly. It's not right and not fair to patients whose lives depend on these meds...Read More Read Less
