I had Uric Acid kidney stones for decades - emergency room trips, excruciating pain, etc. as anyone with kidney stones knows. Since I started taking Potassium Citrate pills daily, I haven't had a single incident . . .about 7 years or so. I modified my diet somewhat, basically cutting down on foods with high levels of puric acid: nuts, beans, red meat, aged cheese and, primarily, Cranberries! I ...

Been on this Pot. citrate for over 20 years and really I have had more stones then ever before. Anything to make drug companies more money.

The pills are too big for me to swallow. I have had them lodge in my esophagus and cause pain and causing vomiting of the pill. Doesn't work for me, so I stopped using it.

I had to operations for kidney stones causing backed up swollen kidneys. Since then I have been very frequently passing kidney stone over the years. Since taking this medication I have only passed one stone. That was in the first month. As ironic as it seems I have also lost weight without dieting. I went from a size 18 to 14 in 3 months. I'm thinking my body definitely needed some potassium! I felt a little weird taking this at first but after a few weeks felt l perfectly normal.

Haven't had any stones. That is good. Feeling tiredness and irregular heartbeat and dizziness. Not happy with these effects. Cut dosage from 3 pills to one daily. Effects remain. Not sure what to do.

terrible stomach upset and diarrhea don't know if I can continue. Daily stomach upset balanced against 1 or 2 occurrences a year of kidney stones.

Aithough I have certainly have had less incidents of stone formation over the last few years since taking potassium citrate, it's a much more complicated question on just how much of it can be attributed solely to the drug alone. I also took other mitigating steps to try and lessen my frequent attacks of renal colic like cutting out chocolate and making lemonade my primary drink of choice instead of cola. Like most drugs, potassium citrate will have a much greater chance to succeed by incorporating other helping measures along with it.Read More Read Less

It took a few weeks of mild stomach upset but well worth it. I have had little to no growth in the size of my stones in 2 years of taking this drug!

I have no problem taking this med, however BCBS has now said it is non formulary and the cost went from $8.00 to $120.00 for a 3 month supply.. Is there anything less expensive that I could take?

Was having 2-3 kidney stone operations per year until I started taking 1 10meq pill per day. Now I haven't had a kidney operation for 1.5 years. It has caused irregular heart beat but a heart pill is reducing that. No kidney stone ops beat the extra heart pill!

I first took this medicine 40 years ago and thought it had disappeared from the chemist. Then I rediscovered it a couple of years ago and it is a life saver in emergencys.

Previously I was passing kidney stones weekly with increasing difficulty & ER visits. I've taken PC for 5 months now and stones completely subsided since the second month. I do experience some stomach upset and loose bowel symptoms which respond reasonably well to adjustments in diet. However, I've also experienced a sudden unexplained weight gain during this same time period which I suspect may be related to the PC. It's been highly effective for me in preventing the recurrence of kidney stones.Read More Read Less
