Haldol is a miracle drug. I take it for schizoaffective disorder so it works for schizophrenia, bipolar, and anxiety. I thought I was the savior of planet earth. I saw snipers and other gun men follow me. I also heard the CIA talk to me through a tiny microphone in my coat. Folks I was completely out of my mind thinking that the government could read my thoughts. Then the radio discussed what was...

I have been taking Haldol off and on for the last 19 years. I was diagnosed with Schizophrenia when I was 29 and hospitalized. I was given Haldol and it worked fairly quickly (within 1week). Now when I start feeling paranoid, I take up to 2mg - 10mg as needed. Usually over the weekend because it causes drowsiness and a feeling of being sedated. I do have some muscle problem with my face and do not know if this is related to the Haldol or Seroquel or Lamictal that I am taking. The raised cheek problem does appear to be neurological. I am currently under a doctors care and checking this out. Read More Read Less

This drug seemed to work well when I first started taking it. Now, my TS is to the point where I am looking for a new medication. The only side effect that is unbearable, is being extremely tired during the day.

I started taking this drug for sleep. However, I started to have vivid nightmares. I'm not positive if others had this problem. It did not help sleep.

I think I've been perscribed this drug along with citalopraim HBR 20mg for depression. I feel like I'm having a nervous breakdown and these drugs have done nothing to help me. I feel worthless and hopeless. My life is not worth living and there's no chance things will ever get better for me.

Had a seizure and was very hostile w/ ER staff. After six doses of Ativan did nothing they gave me Haldol to settle me for a CT scan. Calmed me the hell down! I was psychotic for almost 24hours after my seizure. Now I take phenobarbital. (I don't have an RX for Haloperidol).

My 17 yr old son has been on this medication for about a month. He is on the liquid form taking 10 mg at bedtime. It worked very well. Then he started to get blurred vision.Had to stop immediatly.I am so disappointed because this was the only one that worked.Tried abilify (to expensive)and not effective.Risperdol did not work at all to many side effects. Back to the drawing board.I am so upset at this set back.I will not give up for my sons sake.I am determined to find the right medication.

My father has been given this.  He has terminal lung cancer and end stage alzheimer's.  His behavior has become cobative, he is so restless he can only sleep about 20 minutes at a time.  He becomes even more confused after administration of this drug.  I would not give this to anyone you love who has these conditions.  Not only do the side effects drive the patient over the edge, the person caring for the patient goes through their own distraught for administering it in the first place.

The dosages I have been given ranged from 1mg to 10mg. The 1mg dose was effective however the 10mg was extremely difficult to function with. My experience with Haloperidol resulted in tremendous weight gain and I have been prescribed other medicine
