My doctor prescribed me this drug. This is the first I have ever taking antibiotics or any type medication. During that time i develop this indescribable itch all over my body. soon after that i developed hives, swellings and then lesions all over my body. What was worst, my doctor didn't follow-up with even after I told about my reaction. My skin is ruin, i still have lesions on my skins.

This is the worst pill you can take, I had the worst side effects and so do many. It will damage dna and make things much worse. If you are reading this and have been floxed, load up on magnesium 800mg to 1k a day it will help repair the damage and calm the nervous system. How our government allows this is crazy but money over health with FDA

In my experience, ciprofloxacin works very quickly and effectively, albeit with some not-so-great side effects. I am very prone to UTIs and have taken ciprofloxacin on a couple of different occasions. The first time, the infection symptoms started clearing up right away. But I was only prescribed 3 days of the antibiotics, and the symptoms came back again after I stopped taking it and I had to have another 5 days of antibiotics. Side effects that time included mild nausea, diarrhea, fatigue, tingling in my hands/feet, and mild body aches/muscle pain. All side effects went away within a couple of days after finishing the antibiotics. I also developed a ganglion cyst on my wrist, which I remember happening one other time after I took antibiotics several years ago - not sure if it's related? The most recent time, I had started taking a different antibiotic (nitrofurantoin) to treat a severe UTI. But after three days of the nitrofurantoin not helping and symptoms getting worse, my doctor switched me to five days of ciprofloxacin. My symptoms started resolving right away, and my only side effects were mild nausea, occasional diarrhea, fatigue, mild body aches, and tendon pain in the same wrist that previously developed the ganglion cyst.Read More Read Less

It left me in a wheelchair for several months suffering from over 30 side effects. Just 3 pills were enough to suffer from fluoroquinolones associated disability or what the FDA calls FQAD. This antibiotic is dangerous and doctors keep prescribing it for minor infections although the FDA has warned numerous times to not do it. This class of antibiotics is very toxic and may leave you completely disable.

Sixty-eight yr old female. 100% active , fit. ..no health issues and no medications. I went to my doctor for my annual physical and review of yearly bloodwork.Bloodwork was all good. Blood pressure, EKG both fine. The Urine Test results: I was diagnosed with a UTI ( I had no symptoms). Ciprofoxicin 500 mg was prescribed 2x a day for the UTI. On the 4th day taking this drug I developed severe palpitations and pain in upper left chest. Anxiety ..Stomach pain began. Full gamut of tests were done over the next five days. Not my heart. Stomach pain continues. I have never had issues . I know it was this drug. I will never take Ciprofloxicin again. Read More Read Less

I was diagnosed with Serratia Mercenscens due to complications from surgery. My doctor prescribed this medication 500mg 2x per day. I'm on day 7. I have so far experience, mild panic attacks, pain in my joints and today pain in my right shoulder. I will right back if things progress or if they get better. I'm a 37 yr old healthy female.

After reading so many negative reviews prior to taking this, and having just completed my course -- I wanted to write a review for those in a similar boat to me. This is the second time I've had a course of Ciprofloxacin for Epididymitis. The first 2 week course was a few years back, and at the time I was somewhat ignorant to any side effects and just took it as I would any antibiotic. I was completely fine, and my infection felt better within just 1-2 days. I still finished the full course, as is important with all antibiotics. No side effects. Unfortunately a couple weeks ago I had another flare up, and got the exact same prescription: 2 weeks on Ciprofloxacin, 500mg every 12 hours for that amount of time. Only this time, having noted that the prescription mentioned avoiding dairy 2 hours before or after taking, I did a quick google search to see what/why this would be. What I came across instead was many rather concerning reviews which made me contemplate if I should even be taking this antibiotic again. I rang my doctor and we spoke through the risks and side effects. Cipro is first call for this kind of infection, that means it's prescribed a LOT. And as with ALL antibiotics, side effects are possible. The ones that concerned me most however were nerve issues and weak limbs, to which my doctor specified were very rare. I'm pleased to say I've just now finished the course again with absolutely zero side effects, and the infection pain cleared up within just 2 days. I followed the instructions on the prescription, and avoided dairy within the 2 hour windows before and after taking the tablets. I always opted to take the tablet with some bread (or a banana in the morning) to make sure that I wasn't on an empty stomach, and never had any nausea or stomach upsets. I understand that everyone is different, but if you are like me and have been prescribed Cipro and read these reviews prior to taking, don't let yourself get worked up and panicked. Be aware of the potential side effects as you should be with all drugs, but don't let it stop you taking this course. Remember, the most likely people leaving reviews on Antibiotics are going to be those that have had sadly an unfortunate time, and whilst I sympathise, that doesn't mean your experience will be the same. Those thousands getting prescribed Cipro on a daily basis are probably completing their course with minimal side effects and just getting on with it, and certainly not leaving a review.Read More Read Less

Given to me for stomach bacteria. I've taken two pills and my skin feels like I'm about to break out in hives. I feel so lethargic. I got up overnight to go the restroom and I could not move my left hip. It terrified me to say the least. I'm not sure why doctors would prescribe this poison to anyone! I've thrown the medication in the garbage and hope no one has to experience the side effects of this crap!

I used to take this medication for UTI in my twenties. I always had leg/muscle weakness when taking the medication but never knew that kind of symptom was reason to stop taking this medication. Now I've tried the medication in my early thirties and this time my lower leg pain was painful feeling like something in my shin might burst, not just simply weak feeling. So this time I thought maybe I discontinue taking the medication. In the same area that it was painful, now it's just a couple of weeks later, and after just walking around a lot on vacation the same place that was in pain from the medication is again feeling a lot of unusual pain/inflammation/whatever it is I'm not sure exactly what. I fear it is related and this time the impact from the medication had more damage. I'm worried for the long term and not sure which specialist to see. Read More Read Less

Prescribed a short course (six pills) of Cipro 500mg. to prevent infection from prostate biopsy. One pill the night before, two the day of plus one more at the doctor's office, two the day after and one the following day. I'm on the day after biopsy (taken five pills so far) and it has for sure made me feel lightheaded, a bit dizzy and slightly nauseous. The rest of my body feels kind of weird, almost like being high. I'm glad I'm almost finished. Biopsy was unpleasant enough with having to deal with side effects from medication.Read More Read Less

I was prescribed Cipro for a UTI in October 2020. Before completing the medication I experienced weakness, breathlessness, off balance feeling; I couldn’t walk 10 steps without stopping to rest against a chair or wall. A year and a half later the side effects have not subsided; neurological problems, cognitive issues and increased all over pain. I’m barely functioning and even though I HAVE to work I don’t know from one hour to the next how I will feel. The exhaustion is debilitating and I’m practically disabled. Showering and getting dressed to run a quick errand is exhausting anc puts me in bed for hours afterwards. I just filed a formal complaint with the FDA. There is a BLACK BOX warning on this medication that says it should only be used as a last resort especially if you are over 60. It also states that doctors and pharmacists are required to inform the patient of the adverse side effects possible with this drug. Read More Read Less

I have had chronic sinusitis for years and had two surgeries. When things got really bad my MD prescribed amoxicillin which helped somewhat. I purchased Cipro in Europe without a prescription and it worked IMMEDIATELY. I can’t believe nobody thought of this in the US but I am glad I did my own research. No unusual side effects with 250mg 2x day. I never thought I would feel this good again.

The drug was administered to a colleague and she lost her gait, had spasms in her stomach, severe headache, fevers and chills. she barely could step her feet on the ground and was in pains. Not recommended for treatment. It is definitely a bad drug.
