My doctor prescribed me this drug. This is the first I have ever taking antibiotics or any type medication. During that time i develop this indescribable itch all over my body. soon after that i developed hives, swellings and then lesions all over my body. What was worst, my doctor didn't follow-up with even after I told about my reaction. My skin is ruin, i still have lesions on my skins.

I have had a terrible urinary tract infection and a kidney stone. I took one pill earlier today and I feel way better. No more pain during urination and my back pain has left completely. I have taken this medication before, 2 years ago, and it has helped then too.

I took Cipro for the first time early last year for a UTI and didn't have any problems. This year, I got another UTI and was prescribed Cipro again. I didn't think twice since I had no side effects the last time. The second time went horribly wrong. After taking 3 pills 12 hours apart, every joint in my body started popping and cracking. Even the slightest movement caused something to pop. I also felt like my tendons were going to rip off the bone. I couldn't stand for more than 10 minutes at a time. My joints just couldn't support my weight for much longer than that...and I weigh less than 100 pounds! I was incapacitated for over a month. Taking a shower was even a chore because I couldn't stand up for long. My life came to a screeching halt because of Cipro. The only other medication I was taking at the time was Clonazepam for nerve pain and I don't believe taking that with Cipro causes any complications. I also don't have any major health problems either. It took several months for the joint popping and cracking to go away. It didn't really hurt, but it's quite disturbing that you lift your eyebrow and your neck pops because of it. No joke! I will never take Cipro again. I was told by a medical professional that certain drugs can yield different reactions every time you take it. Others don't. If you've taken, for example, Keflex before and tolerated it well, you will tolerate it well every time you take it in the future. Cipro falls in the other category, which explains why I had no side effects the first time I took it and had horrible side effects the second time. It will get rid of your UTI, but at what cost? There are plenty of other antibiotic options for a UTI. I would give Cipro pass.Read More Read Less

This drug sent me to the ER, with a 2-day hospital stay following. Side effects of dizziness, nausea, vomiting, weakness, disorientation. Hospital administered new IV antibiotic, rehydrated me, and changed oral antibiotic before discharge. BAD DRUG--Medication should not be worse than the illness. I will NEVER take this drug again. A drug with these serious side effects should not be on the market!

Had to go to hospital for LLQ, was given cipro and Flagl . Just did fluids for 48 hours straight with jello. And broth. By the 3 dose had diaharea. Called the hospital and was told to eat a little, so had a baked potato. Today it is not Any better. Lose of appitite. Left eye a bit wonky. Nauseous , light headed. I will call the pharmasist later. Can't see me going through this for another 7 days. Pain has subsided, just a bit tender. Not saying it doesn't work. But it is making me sick. Have zofran for nausea. Lost already 5 pounds in 3 days. Which is good, but did not want to do,it on the divertiticlus diet. There has got to be a better way. And I think my teeth are going numb.and now have head fog. And feel my blood pressure rising.Read More Read Less

I was in a large lake and had to pee. I was standing in water to my neck and I relieved myself. Big mistake! I could tell the shutoff valve did not close properly due to the water back pressure. A few days later it burned when I peed and I got a serious fever. GP diagnosed UTI and prostatitis and gave me a script for Cipro. Within a few days all symptoms were gone but I took the full 30 pills at 2 per day. I had no negative side effects and it has been almost a year since I took the medication. Based on the testimony of others and warnings from the FDA, you should stay aware for possible side effects.Read More Read Less

However....it worked great but... my joints and tendons became so sore and inflamed by the 4th day. I have been finished the pills for two weeks now and my elbow joints and shoulder joints are still sore.

I had UTI symptoms which quickly turned into a kidney infection. It was on the weekend (of course) so I had to go to a clinic. My urine specimen was mostly blood. She prescribed Ciprofloxacin 250 mg twice a day for 3 days and Pyridium. I have taken one dose so far and am already feeling a little better. I just hope 3 days of this is enough!

I have been taking this medication for 3 days now. I still can't keep ANY food down and I have been awake since 2:45 this morning. I tried everything to go back to sleep, nothing worked. Finally fell asleep for 10 mins. I am still urinating a lot as well.

I had a UTI and was prescribed 500 mg twice a day for 7 days. This medication made me feel very very sick. I had extreme fatigue. Slept on and off all day. Bad stomach cramps, chills, nausa, no appetite, bloat and it seized my colon for 6 days--And I think I am probably forgetting a couple things. I drank plenty of water even though food and water tasted like a bad chemical. I've had a couple UTI's over my life time and never had a medication do this to me before. I forced myself to finish the prescription because I know that is what makes antibiotics work, but I will never take this one again. I'm still feeling the effects of this medication after a week of stopping it. It did stop the symptoms of the infection in a day. I think it was much too strong for what I had. I'm now eating yogurt and trying to feel human again. I don't usually do reviews like this very often but I do come here for help from all of you so thought I should share the experience I had.Read More Read Less

Has relieved all symptoms within 24 hours (3rd dose). No adverse side effects. Read other reviews, so maybe I'm early but so far I could not be happier.

From the start this upset my stomach. I can usually handle any meds without a problem. Made me tired and light headed. Raised my blood pressure and gave me shoulder pain. I actually started to suspect I was having a heart attack. Stopped taking this med after 3 days. Will ask doctor for a different rx.

My UTI was so bad by the time I sought medical intervention that I was afraid they would not be able to get rid of it promptly. The 500mg Cipro has done the trick! I was better after the first pill. I have now taken 3 pills, 12 hours apart, and I am very happy with the results. The only side effect is my drop in blood pressure so far but I am dealing with it. :)

This medication wound up causing a severe headache that started about 18 hours after taking it. The headache started as a stiff neck, and slight throbbing in the temples, then progressed to a more painful headache, one that was more painful than my most severe migraine. Pain killers didn't touch the pain. Stopped taking the cipro, and flushed my system by drinking a ton of water. Headache finally went away about 36 hours after it started.

I was given Cipro to treat a urinary tract infection that I didn't even realize I had. But I was told to take Cipro 2 times a day 12 hours apart for 10 days. I was nervous about taking it because some of the side effects were dizziness, nausea, and vomiting so I took Dramamine which is a motion sickness relief which treats dizziness, nausea, and vomiting and it really helped.I didn't have any of those side effects except for being tired. I would take Dramamine 30 minutes or 1 hour before taking the Cipro each time and I was completely fine. My pharmacist had suggested Dramamine as one of the best and said that a lot of people take it with medication. I'm going back to my doctors office in a few weeks for an annual check up and hopefully my UTI is cured.Read More Read Less
