I was really nervous to try this after seeing all the awful side effects people have had, but I've just begun my fifth month and haven't noticed anything at all. No weight gain, mood swings, nothing. I would recommend that people give it a go because if you think about it, the only people who are really going to be motivated to review are most likely those who hated it, so the online rating is alm...

When i started taking this form of birth control, i noticed changes almost immediately. i felt nauseus alot and my breasts felt sore and tender every now and then. My libido dropped a lot and everyday it seemed harder to smile. i became incredibly depressed and practically went crazy. i was indenial and didnt want to believe this pill was making me like this but i started to notice a pattern every...

This birth control worked in that I didn't become pregnant.. HOWEVER - I became EXTREMELY moody and pretty much bipolar. I would cry at ANYTHING and became very emotional and depressive. The WORST part was, it was hard to realize it was the birth control doing it to me. I've stopped taking this drug and I feel so much better! So much less anxiety, and I'm no longer depressed. Now I'm searching for a new birth control...

This medication caused me to bleed heavily and nearly continuously throughout the time I took it -- "spotting" doesn't begin to describe my experience. I had to wear a pad every day. I also had to purchase a whole new set of bras, because my old ones no longer fit. Awful. No reason to keep torturing myself for another month. Goodbye, generic Junel-FE, and good riddance.

After being off birth control for 2 years to give my body a break I decided to go back on it, mainly because I started experiencing cramping and my cycles were consistently every 20 days. My doctor prescribed Junel and told me to take it right away, even though I was just about to start my menstrual cycle. I took it immediately and it had an impact, making it slightly lighter. However, 20 days later I had breakthrough bleeding and still had 4 days left of the pill before I was to start my next cycle. This is now my second month on this pill and my period is much heavier than when I was not on the pill and longer if I add in the breakthrough 4 days too early. I was going to call my doctor to switch but I may wait it out for the third month to make my final decision. I'm not a fan of breakthrough bleeding as I my main reason for going on the pill was to regulate my cycle. If this is not corrected I will switch back to LoestrinRead More Read Less

I started taking this pill a month ago, and just started my second pack. i went on it for both birth control and because my periods were 9 days long, with me throwing up every day! I’m 17, and so far, everything has gone fairly well. I had spotting for two weeks, but that was because i started taking the pill the day i was supposed to get my period, so none of the blood had drained and it was just too much. even so, i have had no weight gain, my breasts got a bit bigger, the nausea and cramping of my period has gone away, and my period is only 4 days long. and it IS effective as birth control. no babies for me! I am very pleased with this, and i would recommend it. it doesn’t work for everyone, but i say give it a shot!Read More Read Less

Starting my third month on junel and I'm pretty happy so far. No babies, no acne, no weight gain, no loss in libido, and no emotional outbursts- I actually feel like I've been more even-tempered since starting this medication. My only complaint is that I've had a week of breakthrough spotting both months (it's worse than my actual period, which consists of one day of spotting). I'm hoping this will go away as my body adapts to the drug, as it is the only negative side effect.

This brand of birth control is horrible. I was on microestrin which was working amazingly and because of switching pharmacies, I was put on Junel. Junel has made my period blood a blackish grey color to brown, my period is still abnormally heavy and painful. This is the absolute worst brand of birth control out there and I have warned people against taking it. Many of my friends also experienced much of the same things as me along with painful headaches and sickness. DO NOT TAKE JUNEL

This is the fourth brand of birth control I have tried and the only one that appears to work at all for me. But, as with all birth control there are side effects: some dizziness; nausea; anxiety and headaches; increased thirst (EXTREME dry mouth); and some spotting/breakthrough bleeding. I have been on this pill for almost 1 year, and I barely have a period anymore. Which is good an bad.

I am 38 and have been on Junel FE for about 2 months for irregular and heavy periods. I really couldn't be happier with the results! My periods have been almost non-existant! I will say though that I have gained ~4 pounds so I am watching my weight more. Hopefully that will be it.

I have been very happy with Junel. This is the 1st pill I have taken w/o horrible side effects. I experienced slight nausea and cramping on day 2, but that's gone away. I have slightly elevated hunger level, so I have needed to be conscious of food intake. No bloating, spotting, and weight gain. My libido has increased and my acne cleared up.

Since I was 16 I was on birth control, from Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo to Yaz, for ovarian cysts, never seemed to have problems, although my long term boyfriend said I got more emotional (but hes a guy, ha) after a few years of Yaz lawsuit commercials and scary articles my Mom vehemently insisted that I get on a different pill, so I asked my Dr about it and she put me on Junel, although she was skeptical as I had no hard evidence that Yaz had been effecting me negatively. I am extremely SORRY that I switched to Junel, it has made me MARKEDLY emotional, and I have the worst acne of my life, CYSTIC ACNE, I never had more than a few pimples, even when I was 14 years old. I have given it an entire year's try, with my loved ones encouraging me to let my body even out, its hormones, even though these side effects showed up as early as a month in. I am considering Nuvaring..Read More Read Less

I was taking LoEstrin FE for two years before my doctor switched me to Junel because my insurance won't cover LoEstrin. I've had breakthrough bleeding consistently and have noticed weight gain within two months of being on it despite no change in my eating/exercise habits. I'm also noticing slight acne. Definitely unhappy with this pill.

I was on generic Mircette for 8+ years before I decided to try something new. Doctor put me on Junel Fe. Two weeks in, I had "spotting" that was heavier than my normal period and then never got my regular period. I've been nauseous every day and have been on a horrendous emotional roller coaster - crying at the smallest thing and being depressed. I have also noticed an increase in water retention and my skin got slightly worse. It's now Saturday morning and Monday can't get here fast enough so I can call my doctor and go back to a biphasic birth control. Read More Read Less

I am very displeased with this birth control. It gave me terrible anxiety and mood swings. I would cry for no reason and constantly felt mildly depressed. I also had a lot of bloating and spotting between periods. I would not recommend taking Junel.

I went on Junel for 2 months after years of being on the Nuva Ring. Not only did I have HEAVY spotting in between periods the whole time, but I also felt incredibly emotional, hormonal, anxious, and depressed. I now just switched to another pill and feel like a new person.

I tried Aleese and Junel and both made my breasts so swollen that it was incredibly uncomfortable. I was SO moody on them and cried it seemed every day. Birth control is not for me.
